The food was absolutely fantastic and while not cheap, you'd expect to pay more for food if this quality in London. the staff were knowledgeable, attentive and polite, but still relaxed and friendly. Hands down one of the best dining experiences I've had, highly recommended
Wonderful place, wonderful food, wonderful chef and wonderful drinks! No regrets and no quibbles, this is a little gem in the culinary jungle of London. The chef interpreted classic French cuisine with a modern touch and appeal, everything we had were delicious. Will definitely go back again.
I chose the Ninth not only because I wanted to try Jun Tanaka's unique style of food but also because it was our ninth marriage anniversary! I had been eyeing up the menu for a while and I noticed that they served Canard Duchene - the champagne we served at our wedding! It was a sign and let me just say, the night could not have been more perfect.
The restaurant space is cosy and modern at the same time- good lighting and music at a level that permits conversation. Service was excellent - staff are lovely. But the food - oh my goodness. I am super impressed! I loved the oxtail croquettes and could have eaten a truck load of those crispy balls filled with rich tender meat. This was followed by the best tortellini I've ever had - the sauce under these delicious dumplings was umami-tastic. The scallop carpaccio, at first looked like a plate of jelly but upon closer inspection proved to be a taste and texture sensation. So light, well balanced acidity and crunch from hazelnuts! Wow!
The whole lemon sole in langoustine butter was a triumph and my veal with smoky aubergine was juicy, tender, and just so tasty! I love that everything is made for sharing - it is food of love made with love - and that is evident in the eating! I respect that all the side dishes here also get the hero treatment and there are more interesting veg options than most places. We had beans with bacon and fennel, green beans with a tangy tahini dressing [which I'm desperate to recreate] and hasselback potatoes which someone had taken great care over.
Thank you Mr Tanaka for such delicious food and for making our anniversary such a special occasion. I will be recommending your food for years to come!
The food at The Ninth is really special, very thoughtful dishes, brilliant flavours. My friend is vegetarian, so we ate mainly from the vegetable section, I didn't miss eating meat at all, stand out dishes were the beetroot tart tatin and pan fried gnocchi! Also the pain perdu (sp) for dessert, amazing. All washed down with a lovely Cote du Rhone and lovely service. Really an excellent restaurant
Food was amazing, as most people concur oxtail croquettes were delicious as were the veal chop, lamb salad, beetroot tarte Tatin and sea bass carpaccio . Can't wait to go back to try the rest of the menu. Reasonably priced wine list too. Laid back atmosphere and amazing food, perfect Friday night dinner!
