Great food, beautiful rooms, friendly and helpful staff.
Sunday lunch menu very restricted for veggies. Good quality though.
We were underwhelmed and sat in a draft - the food was dull.
A really exceptional and memorable lunch in the sunlit conservatory. Waiting staff. Exceptionally friendly and efficient. Thank you.
Noisy table right under speaker (not turned down when we asked). Poor service - had to get up twice to find staff to chase wine menu & drinks. Food OK, nothing special - watery prawns, overcooked steak, had to ask for plain butter. Not worth the prices & a layer of dust on the large multiple glass light globes did it for me. No excuse for such basic issues with cleanliness.
Beautiful place beautiful food
Would highly recommend
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Would highly recommend
We have not been to the Oaksmere for a long time as it was a bit pricey, however loved the set menu for lunch.
Food was fresh and tasty, the service quick and tesm very friendly.
Would recommend for lunch
Lovely surroundings and attentive staff. The food was very good and although we waited longer than acceptable for the main course to be served the waiter did apologise and offer a round of drinks . We would like to return in the summer and enjoy the outside eating areas.
Absolutely beautiful food, very polite and helpful waiting staff. We enjoyed some child free time as a couple where we were made to feel extremely relaxed and we left with full bellies. Have already recommended to several people. We will be back
Great staff. Especially Archie at the front :)
We went for Valentines lunch - they gave us nibbles quite quickly but then we waited 20 mins for drinks that I had to go up & ask for myself - best to get it yourself at the bar and bring it to your table - there was no water - the menu was uninspired -I tried the sirloin steak which was tender but tasteless and although asked for rare was well done (£25 !!!)- they are sold by the weight - beware - only one waitress who was completely lost with 5 tables of 2 ! The decor is OK apart from the fake ferns - but all the tables seem to be placed against the walls so no view - probably better in the summer and when they get some trained staff - we will try again once in the evening to see
Generally helpful staff. Nice place although slightly pretentious.
Six of us had the Sunday Roast, pretty average. Prawn starter, a few prawns on a bit of lettuce. Hock starter, not bad. Beef main... all a bit tired, beef dry and not particularly good. Crumble dessert was nice.
We had the set menu so not a bad price but if we had paid full price we would have been a bit miffed to be honest.
Overall, average and won’t be going again. Not recommended
Had lunch here on Sunday - there were three of us & although the food was a little slow in arriving (it was very busy) the roasts with all the trimmings and the whole plaice were all very good, as were the profiteroles & the crumble. Lunch was enjoyed by us all and it is good value too.
Great interior, delicious food & friendly, attentive staff. When we arrived, my amended booking for an additional person hadn't been received - I changed it online with Open Table & this was confirmed via email? We were kept waiting quite a long time to order but otherwise really enjoyable & will definitely be back!
Lovely restaurant and the food was good, but the service let it down.
This was by far the worst restaurant experience I can remember having. The wait was so ridiculous ourselves and three other tables walked out. The service was beyond poor. The waitress kept apologising but didn’t do anything to help, she laughed that the owner would be watching the disaster unfold on camera. Her people skills were the worst.
She told us that the staff had gone on their Christmas party and that usually there were 7 chefs in the kitchen and that night there were only 2 yet they accepted walk ins and couldn’t cope. Terrible management if this was true. Such a shame as I like the building and it is fairly local so would like to use it regularly but sadly we won’t even give it another chance and certaianly couldn’t recommend it to anyone.
Had a great Sunday lunch really enjoyed can't wait to visit again
We have dined at The Oaksmere on many occasions. I really like the restaurant, it has a sense of style and the staff are attentive and look after you really well. It has a good atmosphere and is an ideal location for a special evening. Generally the food is of a high standard but on this particular evening was disappointing and I dont feel was of premium standard. Its a shame but it would not put me off coming again
Very, very disappointed with the whole night. Service poor and very very slow. Quality of the poor was poor.
Great Sunday roast, perfectly cooked roast beef, great selection of veggies, big Yorkshire puddings and extra gravy. Highly recommend the bread and butter pudding for dessert too.
We could not understand why a member of our party asked for his roast beef well done and was told the beef can only be served medium rare .
Very good food; attentive, friendly service. Enjoyed relaxing with a cup of coffee in the lounge afterwards.
Excellent service and food. It was our first visit and we’ll definitely go back again soon.
Fabulous food as always but unfortunately this visit was let down by the service.
There were only three full tables occupied but the service was still very poor. Not once were we offered drinks during our meal and it took 35 minutes for the waitress to take our order. Once our food arrived we were not offered any sauces to go with our meal and when you have children and burgers you just know that sauces are a must.
However the food was very good as it has been on all previous visits and we will be going back as this is one of our favourites. Just hope the service next time is improved.
Had a lovely lunch - excellent. It was a bit quiet but then it was a Monday lunch just after Christmas.
Visited with friends from London -sadly not impressed - food ok - presentation poor and far too many staff asking the same things - a restaurant in search of an identity
First trip after it had been refurbished. Very neat and modern. Excellent staff and good food. Worth a revisit.
Nice food, unfortunately on this particular visit, service was slow. Felt sorry for the staff as lots of unexpected tables but disappointing for those who had already booked. Wouldn’t rush back, but will return
Having booked a table we decided to try the bar, which worked very well for us.
Janet enjoyed very much the 4 dish tapas, and I thoroughly enjoyed my fish and chips.
The bill was significantly less than we are used to paying, perhaps because we both had
We went on the monday before Christmas, so the relatively slow service was not a big deal.
We will be back.
Food was good, the meat in particular was delicious and tender. Service was good, even sometimes a little over enthusiastic, but that is much better than the other way around.Jolly Christmas atmosphere. Will definitely go again
Lovely atmosphere and nice bar and restaurant. Great they have a free minibus locally too!
Great restaurant, pub vibe in the bar and even a cocktail bar. Something for everyone.
Having arrived and been looked after very efficiently and friendly, we went into the restaurant which had been booked for five the table was laid for six two places had side plates and there were no napkins!!
We placed our order two fish and chips one burger without relish one burger with relish on the side and on belly pork at 13.00 the meals arrived at 14.05 with the relish on the side in the burger which was replaced fairly quickly. The food was of good quality. We were given pudding menus but the young lady didn’t know what flavours the ice creams were, three had ice cream vanilla and chocolate the vanilla was tasteless the pane cotta and apple crumble were good. We ordered three teas an espresso and an Americano which was cold and bitter.
A beautiful setting good food destroyed by abysmal service.
Disappointed that the Christmas Set Menu was not available and we were told that this needed to be pre-booked. Looking back at the website and booking process, this is NOT mentioned anywhere.
The food we did receive was very good and the service excellent as ever.
A big negative score for the marketing department, the menus needs to be downloadable as a pdf, not an image and you need to inform your customers if they need to pre-book something.
The wine I chose was no longer available in spite of being on the wine list. The waitress said it had not been available for some time!
The mains came 105 minutes after our arrival and my steak was overcooked although I had ordered medium rare. By the time it had been cooked again my two guests had finished their mains. This is a restaurant which specialises in beef! It turned out that the chef was off.
The desserts and coffee were provided free.
A dismal evening.
Superb food, excellent service. Would comment that perhaps there were slightly fewer vegetables than we would have liked (table for 2 next to us had 2 bowls of veg, we only had 2 bowls to share between 6 of us who had roasts), but it wasn't enough of a problem for us to comment at the time, and it didn't detract from a superb meal.
Booked through open table and our table had been given to someone else. We ended up sitting at a high table which would not have been suitable for less able people. In fairness we were given a complimentary drink by the waiter. Service was extremely slow waiting nearly an hour for the starter and about 30 minutes after that for the main.
Amazing, but they hadn't received notification from OpenTable about my booking
A very nice lunch with friends.
Purely an observation but people arriving to book in at reception could find no one to help them for quite a while. Staff seemed to just walk past without offering to help. They even came into restaurant looking for help but just ‘not noticed ‘. May need looking at
