The Old Beams
Modern yet traditional decor, friendly staff and tasty carvery on Sunday. Quite busy so would recommend booking.
Had a table booked for the 17th March, they phoned on Tuesday 13th to say it was shut, management had left. Had to make other arrangements elsewhere.
Everything was really good as usual. The only thing I can fault it on,hence the mark down to 4 stars on ambience is that it was bitterly cold outside and not much better inside. I would advise getting some interior glazing or thick curtains. It's such a shame because it distracts from the meal. I also understand it is an old building and probably listed but I am sure something could be done.
Dinner was lovely and tasty. Service was lovely and friendly.
Worst colly cheese ever, slow service but everything else was good. A bit of tlc on the colly and a couple more staff, we’d be a five!
Good food. Great variety of things to eat. Lovely inside.
Oh what a difference a few weeks makes !! Recently visited The Old Beams and unfortunately what a change. Paper flimsily menus, food lacked taste, no specials and all the best items on the old menu have been removed. Previous diners had left chips in the floor under the table which had not been cleaned or removed prior to us sitting down.
Service was good however, a little too good. Felt rushed between courses , working to kitchen clock not the diners.
Will leave for a few months now and may try again in the summer hoping things improve!!!
Will not be returning here . The food was dreadful. I had the carvery and the meat was so dry , looked and tasted like it had been sat there for about 3 hours. The vegetables were just a mush and some of them were only luke warm .
Lovely friendly service. Excellent food. Would highly recommend.
Good food and drink. Friendly service. Carvery was on this time which is a new feature during the week which my wife particularly appreciated.
This is the second time we have eaten Sunday lunch here food top nosh very fresh not frozen veg only down side drinks very expensive so only had one if a little cheaper would have stayed longer and drunk more
Very Good Service, helpful staff a great night was had
Food was excellent with prompt service. Very good value, must visi5 again.
Recommend by a friend. She was right. Simply gorgeous. Carvery on a Sunday is to die for for. Will be recommending to my friends and family
Very pleasant mid week meal. We chose the three courses for £15 option, very good value, very good service
Absolutely lovely, couldn't fault a thing ! One of the nicest meals we have ever had :)
Good wasn't great but service was absolutely shocking...no one was to be found serving instead all chatting at the bar. We had to ask for drinks, to order starter, mains and desert. Very bad service really let the place down as our food was lovely
Service was quite poor. Waited a while to be served. When we asked for the bill it had to be corrected on 2 occasions before we paid for what we actually had.
I have had sunday lunch there before and it was good but this time the veg or parsnips were not cooked so me and my family left a lot of food. Pretty disappointed on this visit.
Good food and good value too. Nice presentation and very friendly staff.
First time visiting. Pub has recently been taken over and have visited another branch so thought I would book for myself and boyfriend for our anniversary.
When we walked in we waited where we thought we should do to be seated, 2 members of staff walked past us and looked at us but did not come over. After a few minutes we decided to walk over to the bar, there was a bit of a queue with some regulars waiting to order drinks. Another member of staff was serving a couple and the 2 other staff members, again, just stared at us, at that point we very nearly left! I wouldn't mind but there was only 4 at the bar and 3 people eating! Eventually we were taken to our table and we ordered drinks and food. I honestly cannot fault the food, it was lovely. Only other thing I would say is that a pint of coke was £3.50 which is ridiculously overpriced!
Not overly impressed if i'm honest, won't be rushing to come back.
Good food, good beer, what more could you want?
Good attentive service.
The only thing wrong with the carvery meal, was the mashed potato had been over seasoned with pepper. Everything else was delicious.
For a gastropub the menu was limited, the food not well cooked and the music so loud you couldn't hold a conversation. There are better places to eat in Stourport. We won't go back.
Tasty food, good service with excellent value for money. We enjoyed a lovely late lunch after a pleasurable afternoon in the town with friends, from the set menu with 2 courses for £11 with no scrimping on portion or quality, would definitely recommend! Nice location, nice decor and great atmosphere.
Lovely Sunday lunch with a menu variety to suit all as some of the party did not have carvery. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would recommend a visit.
Staff very attentive and helpful. Food was lovely but could have been hotter. Forgot to put chunky chips with the one meal but very quickly brought us some. Lovely atmosphere
Had a night off from the kids with my wife and wanted to go for a nice romantic meal for 2 and based on previous visits which were good and the fact that the website specified a la carte menu thought this would be ideal. On arrival the atmosphere was dull and ruined by the choice of music which was a mix of rnb and dance. This coupled with one of the waitresses sorting out the cutlery at the bar area which meant a constant 'clanging ' noise, did not set a good mood. The atmosphere was good for lunch time or a bar but was not right for a evening meal for 2. We were going to order a 3 course meal with wine but that would have been totally out of place for the vibe of the restaurant. This may be the reason why it was so quiet for a Friday night as normally this is place is full. As you've probably gathered we did not have our meal in the end and went somewhere else as we get little time together with a young family and wanted a romantic night out for 2 and this was not the place for this. In short it comes across like the place does not have an identity. Needs to decide whether it is a casual fun bar/pub with decent cost effective pub food and good beer or a restaurant with appropriate lighting, music and atmosphere set for couples, groups, family's coming out for a good meal and service.
Was all fine but a burnt taste in the veg which spoilt the experience.
We went for a mid week meal and chose from their set 3 course meal and had a very enjoyable evening.
The choice of starter, main course, including vegetarian was also good, and a good variety of deserts, although we chose this from the A-Le -Carte section.
My wife drank presecoe and I red wine with the meal and we finished with coffee.
The service was also there when needed but not pushy.
We will go again, as we have, to several in this group, and would go for weekend meals and for special occasions and would look at all the menue's including the "chalk board".
Very well done.
Myself and my partner went for a valentines day lunch. There was a choice of a set menu for the occasion or the usual menu.
I had calamari which was cooked perfectly and my partner had garlic flatbread with cheese. Both were good size portions.
For the main course we both had 10oz steaks, my partner likes well done while I prefer medium rare. Both steaks were served with chunky chips and salad and I have to say they were both absolutely wonderful, cooked exactly to our liking.
I wouldn't hesitate to return and we are going to try the carvery on Sunday!
Seating could be more comfortable. Wine was a little more expensive than I nornally pay,Food was very good, plates were hot,and the service was very good and polite waitress. Yes I will return.
Very good good & service yet again
Good good & service
Most enjoyable evening and staff were friendly and service outstanding
I was very disappointed with the food on Saturday 3rd December, this was our treat to my husband's sister and her husband. Three of us ordered the Chicken Chasseur, when it arrived it did not look very appetising. The vegetables sat underneath a small piece of chicken then covered with what I can only describe as tomato sauce and certainly was not a Chasseur Sauce. The vegetables were leeks and cabbage that neither had been cooked but just blanched. The cost of these three meals were £13 each, we were only able to eat the Chicken and potatoes . My husband choose from the two courses for £11 and he was very pleased with his gammon. Thank goodness the desserts were really nice so they saved the day. I do not make a habit of complaining but l felt it this case I needed to tell you.
As good as always, been here so many times now and can not fault it. Recommend for all occasions
A very pleasant venue for a Sunday lunch. Good quality , generous portion of roast beef cooked to perfection. Staff were very attentive and friendly and were sensitive to our allergy needs.
We have used the Old Beams on several occasions including birthday meals and have been fairly happy with the experience.
Unfortunately the experience we had during a Sunday lunch recently was less than satisfactory. The staff were friendly but the overall service was lacking.
Sadly the food was not up to its usual standard; which is a shame because we have previously enjoyed a good Sunday lunch and recommended the Old Beams to others.
Food was good; beef fillet and lamb cooked perfectly. Good portion size. Staff attentative and friendly. Would definitely visit again.
Excellent food, pleasant surroundings, attentive and pleasant staff
