The Old Dairy is literally just that. Built in 1890 it was originally the site of a dairy and certain features within this huge pub such as the exposed brick walls, the steel girders and the magnificent etchings on the Crouch Hill side are evidence of its previous life. It has been restored into a quite magnificent pub with a new room to discover at every turn.

Lovely place and atmosphere but the Sunday roast was average and overpriced. The service was slow and curt. Would go for a drink there but not for a sit down meal.

They were terribly understaffed. I felt very bad for the staff. Food took one hour to arrive and it was cold! I wasn't able to complain about it because nobody was around. I've been before and was much better but really management should have decided to sit fewer people if they couldn't cope. I won't be going again any time soon, what a shame.

Food was amazing as always, but the service was really slow. We didn’t get our mains until 1 hour 45 mins after arriving. Only complaint on the food was our chicken (roast) was quite dry, but other than that all was delicious

We visited for Sunday Lunch and the kitchen was catering for a menu of 20+ items. We waited at least 30 mins between ordering and eating. The roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese could be much better. I think the team would benefit from using a smaller menu on a Sunday. The macaroni cheese croquettes were amazing. The staff are super friendly and polite. The lady managing the kitchen staff from the restaurant side was very organised and seemed on top of everything. We'll definitely come again, but maybe not for Sunday roast.

The food was middling at best, amongst us we had a roast chicken, pork belly, and burger and the veggie Wellington. The chicken was dry and the pork belly was lacking flavour. Everyones roast potatoes were not cooked enough and the carrots were inconsistent, some nice and cooked well and others rock hard. Total bill for £85... I've had much better for a lot less.

Bit of a disappointing visit to The Old Dairy to be honest. I used to come here a lot but the prices have massively gone up and it's not clear why. The food was fine but there are other places that give you just as good a meal for a more reasonable price. Also, this is a very popular spot for people with young children, so if you don't have any, and you want a peaceful Sunday lunch without toddlers screaming and running around, this is probably not the place for you.

My curry sweet potato had little curry sauce and little taste. My daughters split chicken was tough and inedible. My crumble dessert consisted of big chunks of crumble which would break your teeth - not good.

I went in with my 6yr old daughter and waited 7mins to be acknowledged,then a lovely young lady came to me and said that the manager said there was no tables available and all tables are fully booked,but I saw that there was like over 10tables that was free, then the young lady got the manager to come to me and the manager was so so rude in front of my daughter and she said that tables was fully booked , I said to her there is 10 tables free how can it be fully booked she could not give an answer so I decided to go on open table and there was loads of bookings and tables free and I booked a table within 5 mins, then I said to the manager there was no need to lie saying that it was all fully booked as I’ve just booked a table. If the manager was having a stressful day she should have not taking it out on me whilst my daughter was with me .The manager was stil so rude and do not know how to give great customer service. As my food came out it was so disgusting and my Yorkshire pudding was burnt and I did not like the the beef aswell. I have all pictures and videos of my food, it was so disgusting. I am absolutely disgusted how the manager treated me and my daughter. I will never recommend this place to eat as long as she is a manager as her customer service skills are very poor. I am so so upset as I wanted to have an lovely evening and an roast with my daughter but the manager made our experience a nightmare, and when. I told her I will leave a bad report she was like she is not bothered. I am sure if she owns that restaurant she will give a lot better service but she don’t and if she don’t like serving people she should not be working there as she is so rude. But the 2 young lady’s was amazing and handled customer a lot better than the manager when in fact it should be the manager that is setting examples. I love the old dairy but took 30mins after being seated before we were even asked what we would like to drink. Was also seated in a rowdy room with a birthday party. Food was great but presume they must have been understaffed.

The service was so slow, it took 10 minutes before we was seated for our booking, and the staff were ignoring us. It took an hour for the food to come and another half and hour for the desert. We had to call over the waitress to ask for drinks but in the end needed up going to the bar and serving ourselves anyway! Terrible wouldn’t recommend

What a shame! We have been before for Sunday dinner years ago, and decided to take visiting family. The whole place was crazily understaffed meaning we were waiting 1.5 hours for dinner, we kindly had 20% taken off the bill but walking home we heard several other families complaining! Hopefully a one off as it is a lovely place, but if management are reading this please look after your staff and have a few more hands on deck! We would have easily spent another £100 on desert, more wine etc if we had been asked but the lady was rushed off her feet!

The restaurant is roomy light and airy. I thought the quality of the Sunday Roast was good and they were careful about my daughter's severe food allergies. They also turned the music down when we asked as it was a bit too loud and we wanted to talk. I’d go back there as the interior, food an service were all good

An enjoyable outing to an easy to find location. Serving a great range of beers and wines as well as an interesting and varied food menu. All four of us enjoyed our selections which were served swiftly and courteously. The food was hot and tasty. We’ll be going back again soon.

Went on Father's Day and the service was so incredibly slow. We waited over an hour for our main courses and the table was only half cleared and we couldn't get the attention of staff. However the food was really good, the pork roast in particular was, when it finally arrived, very tasty.

The Old Dairy used to provide excellent food at a low price then good food at a much higher price and now is serving decent food at a reasonable price. Not at the heights it used to be but okay. Service was friendly and quick. Menu choices could have been a bit more interesting - more towards pub food rather then gastropub. Beer was excellent. Good ambience.

Great for a big family get together Oldest 85 years youngest 2 weeks !!!! Everyone enjoyed it - the roast beef is just delicious, also let us cut our own birthday cake. Really love going there -also good wine list

A perfectly acceptable Sunday roast, not the best I have ever had but above average and the roast potatoes excelled. Service was acceptable too, not over and above but the staff were friendly and I have no real complaints. It kind of does what it should, decent food at a decent price.

Very disappointing experience for Sunday lunch yesterday. Used to dine here regularly years ago but standards have definitely slipped. Took my elderly parents for a nice Sunday roast but endured a catalogue of errors. We were sat in the empty dining room by the window which was freezing. We ordered 4 roasts, two were stone cold and had to be sent back to the kitchen. The roast chicken had amazing sounding accompaniments however on arrival I received a tiny chipotla no bigger than my little finger, a small pot of stone cold bread sauce and no stuffing as promised. The service was shocking and very slow. The waitress didn’t know what the soup of the day was or what ales were available at the bar, she didn’t even bother to find out and we had to guess what might be on tap. At the end of our meal we decided to leave after main course, after 2 long hours table service I was informed I needed to take my bill round to the bar and pay there. I had to queue up with all the other Sunday drinkers and wait my turn to pay for my terrible meal. So many simple things, so so wrong. Will not be returning any time soon.

Half the menu options were 'off'. The table service was just incredibly and unbelievably rude (actually aggressive!) and careless. The female toilets were out of order with no sign, only exploration discovered a disabled toilet, with no working lock, 'repurposed' with a torn off piece of notepad paper as 'Ladys'. Shocking because what food was available was delicious, and the place was busy and had a good ambience. We did receive a decent apology from the manager after complaining, and 'waived' the discretionary service charge...

Overall nice place with great beer but the beef ribs were the worst beef ribs I've ever eaten in a restaurant, either frozen or just poor quality meat. I wouldn't be in a hurry to go back to eat here

A gastro pub that seems to have lost it’s way. Saturday night, far from a full restaurant area, served by a young man who must have been on his first shift or on work experience, assisted by a woman who was competent and fine to deal with. Took ages to get the food, which was up to the standard expected, and then, when it came to an after dinner drink, no limoncello - a current favourite - or Drambuie - an old favourite. Not a cheap place. Agreed to pay the 12.5% service charge after assurances it all goes to the staff, including the kitchen. One of our group said it has been losing customers to the recently refurbished pub just up the road. Easy to see why
