Turned up and the table had not been booked. Although I had my confirmation email there were no tables available. There were grandparents with us and we had to venture out to find somewhere else to eat which was not really practical. Grandparents which are on timed medication which have to be taken with food which made this delayed. However we did manage to find a restaurant to eat in but obviously was not ideal when we planned to eat here at this time.
The storehouse is a lovely pub /restaurant on the site of amble links Northumberland. We decided to go for a meal prior to ending our holiday on 4th April. Unfortunately l wasn't allowed to eat anything solid due to an operation I'd had two weeks earlier. My sister and her son had a lovely meal, l explained to staff that l would need to have something either blended (they didn't have a blender) so l chose mashed potato, soft vegetables which l could mash with a fork and gravy. The mashed potatoes were rubbery and the vegetables were far from soft so that put paid to my meal as l couldn't eat it. The girl serving was really lovely about situation but the men cooking in the kitchen should be ashamed of themselves. On a brighter note, my sister and her son enjoyed their meals. I can't understand why a kitchen wouldn't have a blender, I'm sure Gordon ramsay has one in his kitchen. Had they had one l would have been able to choose any meal.
This place is disgusting food was cold and some parts was cold .
Traveled far to be told they only sold carvery, (we only chose here for the menu). Carvery was basic and cold, had to open 2 doors to get to room where our table was.
Lovely clean place to eat and food was tasty but unfortunately the menu displayed online is not the menu they were serving because the usual chef was on holiday.....I’d booked the table based on the food I wanted to order and unfortunately there was a choice of only 3 starters no sign of the scallops I’d set my heart on.....i just wish I’d known in advance that the menu changed frequently
Although iv recomened it there are a few issuse that need addressing,i booked throught open table but when i got there the booking was not on their system, the menu was compleatly differant to the one on the website, i stood waiting for a good 5 minutes before anyone came and spoke to me , not enough staff on a saturday night for the amount of people in the place.
Had no record of our booking. Ended up getting our own menus & was half an hour before someone took our order. Food was nice. Was quite busy & not enough staff.
Been a few times and have never been disappointed. The team work well together to make our eating experience a good one
Excellent Sunday lunch fantastic value for money plenty other choices from the menu if not wanting a Sunday lunch, service and staff always friendly and welcoming. Lovely pub to
We are regulars but we had friends over from Canada and they were very impressed, especially with the size of portions !
Shame I cant give a better review, they dont serve the normal menu (which looked brilliant) through the day!? Even on a bank holiday Monday! Must be loosing a fortune.
Only snadwiches, very odd and dissapointing
The only reason I didn't score the service well was the lack of staff on a busy day. The staff that were there were brilliant but stretched. It didnt help that they had an awkward customer who thought he could just walk in and sit where he wanted.
Initially we felt we had made a mistake booking this establishment as it was further out of Amble than imagined and we had a bit of difficulty finding it. Also first impressions weren't great as it turns out to be part of the leisure facility at a holiday park on the edge of town and was quite noisy when we arrived. However the staff were welcoming, pleasant, patient and friendly - considering we turned up a half hour late - and the food was not half bad: verging on pub grub but quality was fine and portions were generous. The wine was fairly good too while, when it came to dessert, my wife was able to have a favourite not even listed on the menu. Overall, though this wasn't in any way gourmet dining the friendly staff and decent quality, good value for money fare, turned what might have been a disappointing evening into a good night out. I commend the staff for their efforts in making it so.
Arrived to a nearly empty resturant.
Seated and looked at menu, excpected there to be specials on but was informed just carvery.
Tried to order starters of breads with balsamic and oil, and potatoe skins for table to be informed we are not doing starters the manageress stopped them. After complaining they agreed to do them. Bread with no oil or balsamic and very small portion of potatoe skins to what we have had previously when there.
Carvery was ok but nothing special for money charged. Sweets also poor quality.
Would not currently return for food.
Slow food service
change food without asking whether it was ok
One of the waitresses looked like she lost the will to live and enthusiasm to do job
Meal was fairly typical Sunday lunch. Carvery meal, pre cooked veg. Waited for gravy and roasties! Staff could have came over as more friendly/ cheerful. It was a hot and hectic Sunday!?!?
Been to the Storehouse many times, friendly staff and good food. Lovely warm fire in winter which gives extre appeal. Child friendly and pet friendly, my grandchildren love going. The restaurant is well presented so you can have a choice of wether you want to have a more formal meal or eat in the lounge area. Sunday lunches are excellent and great value, banoffee cheesecake is exceptional.
Had a fab meal at the Old Storehouse Amble. It's was to celebrate my husband birthday staff were very efficient, food and atmosphere were fab , we had potatoes skins to start a very generous portion, then we both opted for beer battered fish , chips and peas beautiful, then I ordered creme brûlée which was a wee bit disappointing it was burnt, and there was no shortbread biscuit to accompany it ☹️My other half ordered sticky toffee pudding with custard and ice cream again disappointed sponge was very dry there was no butterscotch toffee sauce and custard was very lumpy and cold ☹️Was a shame as first course & main course were fantastic. But overall restaurant staff cleanliness and value for money was excellent would like to visit again hopefully it was just a one off
Was recommended to come to the old storehouse and don't regret it. Well worth the drive. The lad serving the carvery was very pleasant and friendly and the girl waiting on the tables looked after us well. The Sunday lunch was lovely and the lad carving the meat made sure we had plenty. The gammon was cooked in orange juice (he told us) and it was tender and beautiful. The roast beef was cooked to perfection. The veg was very tasty aswell. Thanks to all the staff for a lovely Sunday lunch
An enjoyable Sunday Carvery. Will certainly be going again.
Fantastic Sunday Cavery. Great ambience and lovely helpful staff
OpenTable booking not logged when we arrived, but we were accommodated. Only food option available was the carvery (Sunday lunch) - we had in part selected the restaurant because of the range of choice on the normal menu, but it had not been apparent that there would be no choice on our visit. Not a great experience.
The food on Sundays & the lively chef made it a worthwhile holiday experience. Children were perhaps a little lively & we found the lunchtime music a bit too much
We had booked online but staff had no idea when we arrived. Wanted to bring our dogs in with us, so were sat at a table in direct sunlight and told to order from the bar. No blinds or ability to be away from sun beaming through glass. Food arrived with my husbands meal missing, despite being ordered and my daughters pasta served with meat, despite ordering the vegetarian option as she is a vegetarian. Trying to get a staff member to then engage with us so that these errors could be rectified , proved nearly impossible. All in all our anniversary meal was horrendous.
We booked our meal via this app. When we turned up at 7.30 as booked the restaurant had no knowledge of the booking. They had all but cleaned the kitchen in preparation for closing at 8.30 even though they advertise food served till 8. We were offered a very limited menu so left without dining. Very poor all round. 😒
Booked for a birthday celebration. The carvery was okay although by the time we were served it seemed the meat had been on the carvery too long and was lukewarm & dry which was a bit disappointing as it was probably lovely about 4 hours before. Despite this it was generous in portion size & the veg etc was good. Unfortunately for us the service altho initially seemed okay then became non-existent & there were obviously no staff serving the tables. It seemed that the bar staff & staff from other areas then had to step into the breach. While I understand there were last minute staffing problems I think that the impact on the customer is overlooked. The environment/decor is really good however they need to sort the staffing out to ensure a good overall customer experience. We will go again and hope that these issues were temporary.
Have been quite a few times to the Storehouse and it has always been good. This time was for a special occasion and it was nothing to write home about. We waited a long time for our food and although the waitress was 'new' her service was very poor. Was disappointed as we had praised this restaurant to our friends and it didn't live up to ours or their expectations.
Restaurant placed us at wrong table, I got the impression they weren't expecting us.
Barely seen any waiting staff.
Carvery was nice but other food particularly the potato skins weren't cooked.
Waitress attitude wasn't great.
Cavery is set at the furthest point from the kitchens will staff going back and forth with trays oh hot food. Experience overall not great but does represent good value for money.
Disappointed we weren't expected, when I had booked on line. Had to ask for the menu more than 15mins after being shown to a table, and again for the deserts menu but over all enjoyed the evening, which had live music.
Great portions , good menu choice , service was a bit slow this time but not on previous occasions
Very impressed! Large group with kids, we were well looked after, lovely service, interesting menu and great value, well cooked food. It's a lovely spot with a great kids play area too, will be back when were next in the area
Had meal for anniversary, main meal was really nice both myself and my husband had Eton mess for pudding it was not what I expected it was mostly cream with not much meringue in it. Would not have that again. The place is really nice and would recommend friend and family to go.
We managed to get a late booking for 8 people and im so pleased we did. Sunday lunch was delicious, with all the trimmings. Definitely worth the drive - we hope to return soon.
One of our regular restaurants which always impress us with their food and services. Thanks.
A very pleasant evening with good food and very good service - thank you
Good food ,pleasant staff, fair price An enjoyable evening
The Old Storehouse was fabulous. The quality and choice of food, customer service, atmosphere, location and value for money were excellent. Whether you want a relaxed lunch or more formal celebration meal, would definately recommend this lovely place. Dogs are welcome in lounge/bar area but not restaurant.
Although bookef through open table we were told they did not have our booking. Service was slow. 40 mins till meal came. Mediocre quality.
The young girl serving, was pleasant and helpful, although we booked ahead due to the holiday season we had to wait sometime for our meals, this we understood was not the fault of the restaurant but the heavy demand of incoming traddic at that time. Would go again off peak season.
