The Olde Dog Inn at Herongate Tye is a picturesque Essex weather boarded inn. Known to date from the early 16th century, the pub has been serving good beer and food for hundreds of years. A wealth of traditional features greets you upon arrival with low-beamed ceilings, exposed fireplaces and a friendly atmosphere.

Once again The Olde Dog Inn has been voted by OpenTable diners as one of the best. Thank you so much to all our customers that dined with us and left a review.

*Bookings for tables of more than 6 people require a £10pp deposit which will be deducted from your bill on the day. Please note that deposits are non-refundable. If more that 48 hours’ notice is given for cancellation, we will be happy to move your deposit to a future booking or provide a gift voucher for the amount.

    Service was great, food was great and it was lovely to sit in the sunshine - only grumble would be the way the cars pull into the car park quite noisy on the gravel if they drive in fast so if you are sitting out the front it can be quite annoying - maybe need a sign if there is not already one that I missed re cars/speed when pulling into car park

    We booked a meal at The Olde Dog because it was fairly local and we’d never been there before. What a pleasant surprise! Parking was easy and safe. The service was super friendly and quick. The food was delicious and the bill smaller than expected. We’ll definitely come again!

    Huge menu choice especially on the Specials board which was outstanding. Never had a bad meal here. Food is always hot and delicious. Food is amazingly presented on plates. Absolutely recommend and always enjoy our experience here. Prices are brilliant. Service was excellent, care was taken over allergies and over my disability and where was best for me to sit. Thank you for this.

    Food was delicious - Sunday roast. The beef was so thick cut. Our young lad server was fantastic, helpful and polite. A very lovely Sunday afternoon.

    A really warm welcome from the owner, followed by top service from staff who were more than efficient, and more importantly, engaging. And the food was pretty good too
