The Olive Branch Bistro
A lovely place to sit and eat. Curb appeal great and a cosy place in which to sit. The staff were pleasant and helpful. It was a great start to our night at the Playhouse which was a five minute walk away.
Good food in pleasant surroundings. Would recommend.
Love it here, have been customers for nearly 7 years, consistently fabulous food and service.
Lovely food only marginally let down by my steak being far rarer than I'd have liked following a request for medium-rare...however still tasty so didn't complain. Also the service could have been a little friendlier...but none of this undermined an all round very nice meal.
Very nice location with generous dishes.
Absolutely to be considered for a friendly dinner

We had a lovely evening meal. Good food, ambience and service. Recommended.
Great food and excellent service at reasonable prices
We love this place and the people running this place. Always comes back when in Edinburgh.
Great staff and very relaxed atmosphere. Food was excellent and very good value.
One of our favourites and we return time and time again. We often visit ahead of trips to The Stand , Vue cinema or Edinburgh Playhouse. Fabulous meal again on Saturday. Unfussy, simple and varied menu done consistently well. A real gem.
First time visit.... didn't disappoint...picked from OpenTable nearby as we were going to the Playhouse for a concert. Good choice...my son joined us and we enjoyed 3 different starters and mains. All delicious...good selection of wines and beers. Under £80 with couple of large reds n soft drinks.
Booked a table based on previous positive reviews. Located in a decent area within an easy walk from the city centre. It is not a big place so reservations are advised. The food and service was good. Would probably try and go there again if in Edinburgh.
This is an excellent restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely return.
Been to the olive branch a few times afte a friend recommended this restaurant to me,
I have never been disappointed, the food and service are first class.
If you are in Edinburgh at all it is worth paying the olive branch a visit.
Will always come back here. Anywhere that does breads and dipping oil is good in my book. Love the pork belly. Friendly chilled place. Good olives.
After the tourist scene in Edinburgh this restaurant was a great relief plus the food was well presented and prepared.
Charming neighborhood place with excellent food. Be warned - it’s popular, so reservations are recommended.
My guests are always delighted with the food and the wine.
My food was unexciting and not tasty. The dessert was ok and so was the wine.
The staff are Always very friendly and welcoming.
Food is made to order and beautifully presented, and the icing on the cake is a window seat looking out on to the wonderfully vibrant Broughton Street!
Great restaurant with good food & lovely waiting staff, would recommend.
A most enjoyable evening in a very nice setting. Noise levels very moderate and welcoming. Staff excellent and most of all food was very good. Thank you.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Olive Branch. The service was speedy and helpful and the food was lovely.
Always very happy with food and service the only complaint I have is there were 5 of us and we were stuck in a corner at a table for 4, very cramped.
As usual a great evening in one of our favourite restaurants, food and service exceptional.
We had a very nice lunch pre theatre. However the gluten free options were very limited. Olives for a starter! Perhaps a bit more imagination gf bruschetta? Hower rissoto main was very nice indeed. The ambience and service were great so had a lovely time.
Perfect choice for a relaxed dinner catch up with a bunch of friends - service was awesome balance between attentive but not pestering us despite late arrivers and too much chat! Food was delicious as always. Until next time
Lovely fresh food and great atmosphere. Good neighbourhood restaurant
Loved the Thai vegetable soup for starter and pasta main. Pre-7pm menu was excellent value at £12 for 2 courses.
Nice relaxed atmosphere. Friendly efficient service. Somewhat limited menu, but food was good. Nice wine selection. Will definitely go back and recommend.
Been coming to The Olive Branch for many years and the food, service and atmosphere never fails to delight. Great place hope it is around for many years to come.
Dinner for two on a cold evening and we got a very warm welcome. Good range of food on the menu which was very well cooked and presented. Service was friendly and prompt, and the atmosphere was nicely informal.
First time in this restaurant and will be back.
The food was good and the service excellent.
My partner did not finish her meal (there was to much on the plate) but the young lady who served us was concerned there was something wrong and enquired immediately.
We explained the position to her but it was really nice of her to ask instead of the norm where plates are just collected.
We would recommend this restaurant to friends.
Excellent service, staff very efficient and friendly. Food always excellent, would definitely recommend you try.
Nice tasty food though quite pricey for what it was. Pleasant room and service.
We had a lovely meal with great service. Restaurant was full but food arrived in good time and was excellently cooked and presented.
One of the best of the Broughton Street new breed bistros. Relaxed, good food, small but well-selected wine list. One of the few using Open Table making it easier for Yanks to book in advance. Close to the new Marriott Courtyard and a Holiday Inn Express in the trendy East End.
The food was tasty and the staff was very friendly!
First time here and will definitely be back. The food was good, and the service quick, efficient and friendly.
