The Olive Branch Bistro
We really enjoyed our meal. It was delicious and the service was very friendly and professional. I can’t think of anything to improve on!
Thanks for a great evening.
We stated in advance that one member of the party had an onion intolerance but there was a very poor response and no innovation in support of this diner. In addition there was a reaction to onion present in the supposedly onion free food so we would not return to this venue. The standard of the food was acceptable overall and service friendly and prompt but the bistro was cold and we sat with coats on in the seats by the window.
A very cosy atmosphere on a cold evening. Attentive but unobtrusive staff serving a good range of hearty food. Loved the scallops and black pudding! Nice and buzzy but not too noisy. Well recommended.
Really lovely place to spend an evening with friends, good food, good wine and good company
Great food and great atmosphere. Very pleasant and efficient staff.
The Olive Branch Bistro was an amazing experience and unbeliveably good food. 11/10
Great food and service. Great evening.
Nothing special. Fine for a quick bite near the centre.
Definitely recommended. Will go back again soon
Great food and great service
Thanks to Trip Advisor, this was a neighborhood gem well worth finding. But if you’re not staying in the neighborhood, do take a cab to find it. We both had the salmon which was beautifully cooked and presented. Service was great and they had a nice wine selection.
Probably our tenth visit to this lovely little restaurant. Whenever we visit Edinburgh it’s always on our agenda. Great food, very friendly and efficient staff. Reasonably priced too with a wine menu priced for everyone. I know I sound like I’ve hot shares in this place 😊 I haven’t. Anyhow there you go. A great little venue.
Lovely place for a meal with a good choice of dishes. Only 2 servers and had to wait a long time for service. Waited for 35 mins to order pudding by which point we didn’t bother. If they could sort out the service the place would be really excellent.
Really lovely neighbourhood restaurant. Every visit to Edinburgh I will make a point to eat here.
We were visiting Schotland from Florida and stayed at an Airbnb in Edinburgh just a few doors away from the Olive Branch. It was excellent. I recommend making a reservation as there are only a few tables.
There were five in our party, two of whom had allergies which I didn't know about when booking but their request were dealt with extremely well.
Wir hatten einen netten Abend, der Service ist sehr aufmerksam. Mit Risotto und Pasta of the day waren wir sehr zufrieden,
Not a bad wee place. A bit noisy and rather draughty, given that the door was wide open and July in Edinburgh doesn’t really warrant such expedients.
Exceptional food , delivered very quickly! Friendly and helpful people, and clever ideas for food combinations. I had the halloumi salad with passion fruit dressing and it was gorgeous.
Fantastic ,food great, service great. My husband and I go there before the theatre and we love it.
Marvellous as always - the best burger in the ‘burgh!!
Good food and service no complaints really good service
They did not honor our reservation. There were three reserved tables. We were first to arrive and offered the table next to the kitchen - worst seat in the house. We had to leave.
Hello Patti, Thank you for your review. We are sorry you were dissatisfied with the table that had been reserved for you. Your online booking came with just 50 minutes notice and the restaurant was fully booked on this particular Saturday evening. However, we are just slightly confused as to what you felt had not been honoured, as you booked a table and we were only too happy to be able to fit you in at short notice. I hope that you have a more enjoyable experience with us next time.
Average greeting. Food ok. Service on the slow side. Food ok. Was expecting more because of the v.good reviews.
Great place. Excellent food and also good service.
One of our favourite places to dine in Edinburgh. Great food, atmosphere, fantastic spot to dine out.
Food as delicious as ever - one of my favourite places to eat!
Great food and atmosphere at the Olive Branch bistro. Lovely small restaurant (around 45 covers) and friendly staff. All good top quality.
Delicious menu, spoiled for choice - I wanted to try everything. Friendly and relaxed staff, lovely atmosphere - Definitely try this place if you're in Edinburgh.
A lovely place to sit and eat. Curb appeal great and a cosy place in which to sit. The staff were pleasant and helpful. It was a great start to our night at the Playhouse which was a five minute walk away.
Good food in pleasant surroundings. Would recommend.
Love it here, have been customers for nearly 7 years, consistently fabulous food and service.
Lovely food only marginally let down by my steak being far rarer than I'd have liked following a request for medium-rare...however still tasty so didn't complain. Also the service could have been a little friendlier...but none of this undermined an all round very nice meal.
Very nice location with generous dishes.
Absolutely to be considered for a friendly dinner
Area of improvement: toilets
We had a lovely evening meal. Good food, ambience and service. Recommended.
Great food and excellent service at reasonable prices
We love this place and the people running this place. Always comes back when in Edinburgh.
Great staff and very relaxed atmosphere. Food was excellent and very good value.
One of our favourites and we return time and time again. We often visit ahead of trips to The Stand , Vue cinema or Edinburgh Playhouse. Fabulous meal again on Saturday. Unfussy, simple and varied menu done consistently well. A real gem.
First time visit.... didn't disappoint...picked from OpenTable nearby as we were going to the Playhouse for a concert. Good choice...my son joined us and we enjoyed 3 different starters and mains. All delicious...good selection of wines and beers. Under £80 with couple of large reds n soft drinks.
Booked a table based on previous positive reviews. Located in a decent area within an easy walk from the city centre. It is not a big place so reservations are advised. The food and service was good. Would probably try and go there again if in Edinburgh.
