We visited on a Sunday afternoon when the Orange was very busy but the staff were all very good and our waiter was excellent. The beer was good and the Sunday Roasts were delicious. I would recommend the Orange.
Terrible service which is a shame as food is always lovely
Not sadly up to its usual standard. Bread was stale and obviously reheated, chicken pie was lukewarm. Service was enthusiastic, but not very effective. After waiting 15 mins had to ask for bread, had to call over to take the food order ... despite being half empty.
The Orange has always been one of my favourite Sunday roast spots in London. Several years on, its losing some its lustre. Portions were smaller than they used to be, and not as tasty (although my beef was delightfully rare). Our waitress was lovely, but seemed to struggle with everything, aided by a misfiring kitchen; we waited too long for everything; drinks, menus, ordering, food, correction to food, check, paying the check!
Food was generally good but wasn’t ordered correctly by the waitress, one of the mains didn’t arrive at all. We Arrived at 7.30 and starters were served at 9pm. G&T was served without tonic and only one I’ve cube which had melted by the time the tonic finally arrived. Mussels were served without finger bowl or spoon. We did however have 10 ketchup portions served for the 4 lukewarm bowls of chips. We won’t be rushing back.
Great for drinks and dinner after..
Every time I’m in London, I dine here and am never disappointed. Great food and service in a relaxed atmosphere.
I was really excited to visit the orange after getting the bus past it everyday and thinking it looked lovely. I took my parents for sunday roast. We went for 6pm and the place was very busy, no one greeted us and we had no idea where to go. We wandered up to the dining room upstairs and were put into a corner with no other guests. It took 15 minutes before someone came over to serve us and so we asked to move to the main restaurant. The service following that was again poor, no one took our drinks order for ages, service seemed to change between shifts and we didnt have the same waiter looking after us. The guy kept coming to pour our water but wasnt sure if we had ordered or what.
We would expect more from a well established place like the orange and with high prices.
Good sunday roast, but there was a lot of noise, from customer and there was a very loud whistle noise
Juice machine broken, one main course forgotten, ages for a coffee, no word of sorry til we complained, truly appalling- breakfast is really not that hard to do!
Good quality food but a bit over priced, especially the wine list. The service was friendly and efficient.
Excellent food and service once again, in a lovely atmosphere . A fantastic place we have been to many times
Interesting menu and delicious food. Gets busy and so can be noisy.
Very chaotic, nobody knew where pre booked table was on arrival. All diners squashed into one smallish area. One bar staff so drinks were slow. Nice waitress trying her best but food came out late. Pies were ok but small, Very expensive for small portions in a noisy room. Such a shame as I had clients with me and don't remember the Orange as being so poor and non value for money.
The wine was a catastrophe. It tasted very weak, had an odd odeure and has been served extremly warm. Also, it was not the wine on the list. We ordered a Nero d'Avola and got just something but for sure no Nero d'Avola. After we complained we got the same wrong wine again and the wine was - what a surprise - way too warm. This time we didnt' complain again but we were disapointed and left back half of the bottle. We expect a Nero d'Avola when offered in the menu as such and not something different.
Had yet another lovely meal at The Orange. Service and quality of food were superb. We were staying the night too and the breakfast was also great. Top notch!
Very attentive staff who made us and our two puppies very welcome
Great choice in Sloane Sq area - dined at the Orange twice during a holiday in London (returned with friends after a great initial meal). Local ingredients, interesting dishes, all-in-all a terrific experience.
Good food and ambience. Service very lacking. Staff not well-trained enough. Simple order of steak, chips and wine. Delay in informing that chosen wine option not availaible, delay in bringing replacement wine order. Steak brought first, chips later. Waiter veered from being over-attentive to not communicating delays.
We visited the Orange Public House as a group of 6 for Sunday lunch to celebrate a 40th birthday and engagement. I booked in advance to ensure a good table for our group.
When we arrived we where sat on a table for four people and in a main thoroughfare of the restaurant. This meant we had to keep standing up to let people pass and had the staff behind us working on the till. It therefore felt like we where sitting in a corridor. We did ask to move to a better table but we where told they where fully booked. We had a 12.30 booking in order to beat the Sunday lunch rush and to allow time to chat and enjoy. Although the food was very good because of the small table there was no where to put the sharing plates when they arrived, which meant we were very squashed on the table, making it stressful to eat so as not to knock over drinks or food.
The food was very good but our order took over an hour to arrive. We kept asking the staff if it was on its way but no one really knew what was going on, and we where told numerous time it was being plated up but it still didn't arrive. Very frustrating when tables around us who arrived after us where eating their food. No one apologised for the delay which added to the frustration of not knowing what was happening. Such a shame.
We were very impressed with the waiter who served us. He was charming & attentive, refolding our napkins if we left the table. The food was delicious, good choice of puddings. Will definitely go back when we are next in London.
Disappointing - overpriced for what is was. My wife's main was tough - mentioned to waitress but no response. Desserts were good.
Absolutely fabulous vegetarian Wellington and rice pudding! Best dining experience for a very long time!
Highly recommend for a relaxed Sunday lunch where the service is excellent and the food is delicious.
Very comfortable restaurant. Feels like cabin :)
Sunday roast, ambiance and especially our waiter made the 3.5hrs a great memory. Rare in London the bill seems undervalued. Excellent
Lovely dining room, good quality food, cosy ambience.
They have a nice Sunday Roast. The staff was really nice although we had to wait for more than half an hour for our food to arrive. I have been there some other times and this was the first time something like this happened, so I'm guessing they were just extra busy that day.
Lovely food a d vibe.
They were overwhelmed by the amount of people, but they were very helpful all the time.
Very nice food as well, though the truffle fries were not as nice as usual.
Truffle fries at The Orange are a MUST
Very good experience..not outstanding but enjoyable all the same.
The food was good. The waiter was very helpful and attentive despite the restaurant being full. The Orange is little noisy for my taste but we were 7 and quite chatty as well. The table was ready for us when we arrived and the orders were taken quite promptly. A good meal and a nice menu.
Sunday roast: condiments must be offered... salt and pepper on the table missing..
had a beer, did not like the taste, waitress taking it back said: “you will pay for it” hellooo, educate your staff in order to work and understand your customers...
We did have quite an early booking (7.30 pm) but it was a bit disappointing to find ourselves the only customers in our section of the dining room for quite some time, especially as it was a Saturday. Also I thought the room had a hint of quite an unpleasant "stale" smell.
We all enjoyed our meal, though for me the leeks & other veg (chicory?) were too tough to eat and did not go very well with the trout (which was good). Monkfish starter & puddings all very good.
We love the Orange for a special occasion or Sunday lunch and hope to return
The orange is a great pub, good service and excellent food. The desserts are exceptional! It was extremely busy with a few large parties so the noise level impacted our evening sadly.
Fantastic food, good wine selection, friendly and thoughtful service - highly recommend!
Very enjoyable Great service. Pity we were not downstairs as requested. I really like the restaurant. The chicken pie was delicious it a bit small!
Seemed very hectic and stressful but the food was great
Very busy, therefore a long wait for food. Food very average. Would not return
Slow service and high prices were offset but very good food
