Return visit and was happy to have made a good choice for two friends who joined me. Garrett took care of us and he was the best. Burrata starter fantastic as was the ribeye and the lamb. The pork loin special was a little disappointing. Too much fat. Delightful upstairs for conversation. I will return next time I'm in London .
Always a good choice. Very close to my house...
Anytime its good
Reliable and delicious, as always, with the customary friendly staff. Warm and welcoming.
Midweek meet up with a friend - food and service is always good at the Orange. Can get very busy so book ahead :0)
Not sure if the chef changed but the Sunday roast wasn’t as good. Prefer the way it was before. The presentation of the food wasn’t great and potatoes were too hard.
The broadbean scotch egg is one of the best things I've eaten in ages, may have dreams about it tonight.
A lovely pub on a quiet road behind Sloane Square. The staff were very attentive and polite, the menu was good, although would be good to get a vegan option. The potatoes in the roast lunch were very dry, other than that a lovely Sunday lunch.
Children’s menu fish and chips has so much salt on chips it should not technically be “children’s menu”.
Virgin Merry was so spicy there was a mistake for sure.
Salad included cabbage that was black (using yesterday’s stock) and half in portion to other similar plates for other guests that ordered later.
When we asked waiter to cabbage up and after 15 minutes asked again he said it will come whenever it is ready. Service from his was pathetic
Lovely food and a lovely time all around!
This is a regular place for myself and my friends - the staff were so helpful in finding us a different table when the number of guests changed and for the second time when they changed again.
We love it here.
Great food. Friendly service. Very nice restaurant. We had a very enjoyable lunch at The Orange earlier today and we were delighted with our starters. My partner had pork croquette with baked apple sauce, which he said was absolutely delicious. I had the poached trout with English peas and a spiced seaweed cracker, which I thoroughly enjoyed. For a main course he had the pan-roasted chicken with fondant potato, leeks, pancetta and baby onion jus ... which he said was as good a main course meal as he had had in any restaurant for quite some time. Tasty, well cooked and very well presented. I, unfortunately, chose to order the Chicken Caesar salad which was frankly nasty and, despite the manager’s explanation to the contrary, seemed to us to be undercooked and slimey. Definitely a dish to avoid unless you’re keen on pink chicken ! As for our two desserts ... well, like our starters, they were both excellent. My partner had the Bramley apple pie with pecans, salted caramel and vanilla ice cream. The best apple pie he'd had in any restaurant he said. I had the vanilla custard panna cotta with berries, raspberry meringue and strawberry gelato. It was superb and, having had three spoonfuls of my dessert to be doubly certain, my partner agreed with my assessment of the lovely looking pudding.
Overall we were delighted with the food. It was well above our expectations and we are both very much looking forward to another visit to The Orange some time soon.
On the service front ... it was friendly and efficient despite the restaurant being nearly full to capacity. Thank you to our waiter, Slawek, and his colleagues for making our visit today so extra enjoyable. We think that the Polish word which Slawek used was “Najlepszego” which apparently translates in English to “All the best”. Very appropriately we agreed.
Very good all round. Service, food, ambience - I will definitely recommend to someone and be back soon.
Unbelievable! Go there for drinks as it is a very cool pub in a central area but never to eat! I have been there yesterday. The steak was not good while the lamb delicious. Basic entrees, not much choice.. overpriced for what is on offer! The service is one of the worst ever! They were extremely slow, they forgot our orders twice and we had to remind them, plus once they confused white wine with red one, plus a dish never arrived and we had to cancel it... plus, they did not apologyse whatsoever, for example by cutting anything from the bill or sending a complementary dessert. I have never gone through such bad service in a gastropub. They charge like a restaurant but offer the service of a rural pub in the middle of nowhere!
Lovely service from all staff.... especially kind making us Irish coffees when they weren’t on the menu!
The food was absolutely delicious. We had a beautifully cooked steak and Hake in an amazing sauce. Great staff who were attentive throughout the meal. A little gem.
They were able to get us in even though I made a mistake with the reservation date. Filet was good, if not particularly memorable. Desert was very good.
As usual food was amazing on Sunday 9th June but unfortunately the service really wasn't good. After clearing our dinner plates nobody came back to the table for 20 mins to ask us if we wanted anything else and none of the waiters mentioned any specials when taking our order. Shame as usually this place is great!
Lovely atmosphere with friendly, accommodating staff but service was very slow with a long wait between courses
The ambience is the best feature of this restaurant. The food is good although the cottage meat pie was loaded with peas which I asked our first waitress about but she never got me answer. She was very nice. I forgot to asked the second waitress who took our order. I should have sent it back but that’s something I seldom do. I order a cosmopolitan which had very little vodka. Overall its a nice restaurant with a nice feel to it I just had a bad dinner.
The steak pie I ordered was great! Especially horseradish mashed potetoes was amazing．It was my first experience to taste. You must try them.
Go for the Sunday Roast!
Prompt attentive service from our knowledgeable waiter. Delicious food in comfortable surroundings.
noise level downstairs terrible upstairs much better. Food very overpriced for what you get.
Not our first time here so we were looking forward to a nice meal but we’re greatly disappointed. Starting with a bottle of white wine that was served at room temperature. Fish dishes (3) were cool and we complained so Waitress took them away and returned with the exact same dishes 15minutes later and there was hardly any improvement in temperature. No manager came to our table to discuss and a full bill including service charge was presented without any apologies or comment.
They were too busy to take a phone call about this the following day.
All in all a great disappointment.
We arrived early and the table was ready during a very busy tail end of the lunch service. Staff were efficient, engaging and even energetic. Such a pleasure to seeing experience this in London these days. One pizza arrived as an incorrect order and they swiftly rectified this and gave my guest a second smaller one to keep him going.
There was a special Chelsea flower show menu which we were not shown till dessert however we were at the end of service. The food was tasty and beautifully plated on lovely pottery plates.
Our group all thoroughly enjoyed dinning here and we will be back
We arrived at 1.20, half an hour later we were still waiting for our order to be taken, yes it was Chelsea Flower Show week but the place was half empty, lots of waiting staff just standing around not doing anything, then another wait of 45 minutes for our very ordinary and incredibly overpriced lunch to arrive. When I mentioned how long we'd been waiting the waiter didn't apologise, just said "alright Darlin' it's a busy time, innit?" It wasn't busy. Incredibly noisy and all round not a great experience.
Absolutely lovely pub, went over Chelsea flower show week.
Very busy,staff where lovely.
We visited this wednesday before the Chelsea flower show, whilst the orange were vary accomadating as we were running late. The breakfast was not worth the money. But a nice place to visit
Lovely pre-Chelsea Flower Show lunch. Had the best salt and pepper squid I’ve ever had. Friendly service too, even though our waiter was run off his feet.
Very nice restaurant and food. Maybe a little understaffed but the servers were great
Nice pub and good food, but very very slow, we waited 1 hour for our food to arrive.
Excellent food and service. Bright, well lit dining room. Very nice atmosphere and decor. Highly recommended.
Had to return an undercooked trout twice. The waiter tried to tell us that people liked it that way. It was raw inside. Once is almost understandable every now and then. To do it twice is inexcusable. But they didn’t charge for it (obvs) and have a small discount on the total bill.
We love The Orange. It’s beautiful, the staff are kind, helpful and friendly. The food is very good. The roast was good, the veg could have been better. The carrots were undercooked and there were no parsnips. The Yorkshires were also a bit over done. The roast potatoes needed more flavour. The Lamb shoulder was wonderful.
The service could have been better. They forgot our drinks to the food. But in all it was a good experience.
I have loved the Orange for many years in the past. Now I live abroad and came to London for a visit & asked my friends to come for lunch catch up...
the food was mediocre... small portions, not what I expected.. was certainly disappointed.
The food was excellent. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Will definitely go back.
Enjoyed, first time, visit.
Friendly helpful staff serving interesting and well prepared food.
Will return when next in London.
Good pub food with vegetarian options.very noisy and service slow
I love the Orange! Perfect Sunday lunch. The setting, the staff, the food - outstanding.
