The Owl at Twilight
Food was pretty good. Best up that way, and the owner really seems to care. He handles all front of house duties and I would be happy to come back again. Hopefully to have the prime rib be in stock next time!
Food and service were both amazing. Lots of fun. Very warm and inviting atmosphere.
In all aspects, a really perfect meal.
Spectacular, as usual! It was crowded, folks were waiting for tables (glad we had a reservation), but service was still great and the food was wonderful. Kudos to Mark for such a great place! See you next season!
Love this place! Second visit this summer after meeting owner Mark at his restaurant Firefly in Key West last winter. Worth the 1 1/2 hr drive. Food outstanding & innovative with just the right amount without being overstated. Staff warm & friendly. Looking forward to seeing them again next year.
Wonderful in every regard!!! Great food, service, ambiance, even music! Try the cauliflower and stuffed clam appetizers. The Tuscan chicken and prime rib are outstanding!
What a great restaurant, sat in the porch overlooking the garden in the authentic Adirondack dining furniture. Good and service were second to none - Chef Sue was able to handle dietary limitations perfectly and the owner (Mark) is second to none! Highly recommended
Truly a wonderful meal in a lovely setting with very able and affable service.
Our reservation was for 7 PM for a special birthday celebration and we requested the porch - we arrived on time and were told we had to wait - which we ended up waiting an hour and 1/2 for and several folks where seated before us on the porch that arrived after we did - and when we were finally seated it was dark and cold and not comfortable, our food was served rushed, we were never read the specials, and after we recieved our food realized there were specials we would have ordered, and when our food came it was much was cold and under cooked and not attractive - so what should have been a wonderful, beautiful evening was not and we had other plans we wanted to do for the evening and it was to late by the time we left to do anything....it was a disapointment, we feel our reservation should have been keep - and while we weren't looking for something for nothing a complimentary glass of wine or appitezer would have gone along way, this happened on the opening night of this season when the serving staff was not great and we just let it go, but now really question as to if we want to return, what used to be our favorite place when Richie and Joanne where there is now suspect -
I already have recommended it to friends. A great find in the middle of the Adirondacks. Very pleasant and intimate atmosphere and the back porch in the warm summer evening was wonderful. The menu was creative and interesting without trying too hard. The food was incredibly tasty - I had a combination of appetizers/small plates with my glass of wine - the kale cesar salad, wild mushroom saute and the duck with rice soup. For dessert, I had the toasted almond cake with honey vanilla ice cream which may have been so-so anywhere else. I couldn't get over how incredible that ice cream tasted and how it perfectly rounded out my birthday dinner there. And... I love the name of the restaurant!
Food is delicious and the menu includes interesting and tasty choices. Desserts are house made and plentiful. The waitstaff are really friendly and fun to talk to, and Mark is always welcoming. The cosy screen porch is our favorite, and the dining room is also very comfortable.
The food is no longer Latin but it is wonderful. The clams casino were outstanding!
Wonderful dinner at The Owl. Husband had prime rib and I had the day's special, red snapper. Sauteed wild mushrooms were a delicious appetizer. Service is warm and friendly without being obtrusive. Wish I could go back more often.
One would like this country restaurant to be better. The food is decently prepared, but cookie cutter, most main dishes have the same rice, carrots, squash, and string beans. Flavors are all muted. Baked Brie, tastes like baking a package of Brie. All the flavor of the sea bass was contained in the crust. The crab cakes were quite good. The main dining room, if you can't get an outside table, is depressing. The loud piped in jazz doesn't go along with eating dinner, at least not for us.
Go every summer... always great!
Lovely place on the way to Long Lake. Very nice menu with items fresh from their backyard garden. Great kale salad and roasted mushrooms for apps. I had a seafood dish with a spicy coconut broth - it was delish. Peter had a chicken scallopini which he enjoyed. Cozy spot with nice music and a good martini.
Very fun place. Wonderful dinner; the mushroom appetizer was amazing, along with the muscles. Desserts were also great!!
What a wonderful surprise, finding The Owl so close to our summer place. The island shrimp cerveche was amazingly refreshing and delicately spicy. The Tuscan cousin had the best, light lemony, creamy sauce. We were too stuffed for desert, but shared the Key lime mousse and didn't regret it. We thought it was good value for such an amazing dining experience and will definitely stop in again!
Too expensive for quality of food and drinks ... music was not enjoyable.
After rail-biking in North Creek, we wanted a place with a nice menu. We found that with The Owl. If you have children with developed palates, that like more than just chicken wings, then this is a great place for kids as well. Bryce was our waiter and he was super efficient and pleasant. I started with the seared scallops app with sauteed leeks. Terrific. The bread basket came with an unusual but delicious accompaniment. Lemon whipped ricotta. For the entrees, our daughter chose the Prime Rib which came with choice of potato. She chose the scalloped potato which was out of this world. The adults had the Seafoord Stew (OMG good) and the Lamb T Bones with mint chimmichurri. Yummo!
The menu is small but has something for everybody. There was a special burger that night with blue cheese that sounded terrific. The wine list is surprisingly large and there were a plenty of beers to choose from as well. All the desserts are made in house and our daughter chose the Lemon Cheesecake Parfait. She ate the WHOLE thing.
The Owl is definitely a foodie stop. You might be a little surprised by the outside appearance and it being located next to a construction company, but once inside it is cozy and nice. Get there early for a seat in the screened in porch overlooking the herb garden.
The only negative was during our dinner a musician started to play. He wasn't terrific for one and second we couldn't hear it because the restaurant music was still playing overhead. It may have been better if the main music was shut off.
The Owl is a great little restaurant with a savvy owner and a chef that knows what she is doing. A definite thumbs up.

Service outstanding. Food just ok. Scallop appetizer excellent. Cauliflower not in season and tasteless as were the other vegetables. Crab cake good but not outstanding . We were treated like queens but likely won’t return as it is 30 minutes away. Sorry, as I wanted to love this place.
IF you are in the Adirondacks a visit to the Owl at Twilight will provide a farm to table delicious dinner. The wine selection is very nice, homemade desserts and be sure to try the chili chocolate, yummy.
The owner Mark and the wait staff were very attentive.
Excellent food, met owner who was very kind and fun. Excellent porch seating and well staffed with witty and fun waiters. Definitely will be back for more! A must for the Schroon Lake area!
We would absolutely recommend The Owl to family and friends. The menu is diverse and we have never been disappointed with our selections. All staff members are friendly and congenial.
We have been patronizing this restaurant for many years and have found the food and service to be very good up to now. This time, we waited over 45 minutes for our table, even though we made reservations several days ahead of time. There was no attempt to apologize or offer us free drinks due to this inconvenience. Once we were finally seated, we waited another 15 minutes for our bread basket.
The entree that I had my heart set on, they were out of, even though the menu is very small.
When we finally left, there was no attempt to comp us something or apologize. We will not be going back.
Our porch is very popular. This guest made an online reservation but there were other guests who made reservations for the porch as well.(Earlier) I offered immediate seating in the dining room but they opted to wait for the porch. Bread is done in the oven baked to order which takes 10 mins. We are very busy on weekends and don't get Sunday deliveries. We had everything else on the menu for them to choose from.
We were in North Creek for the weekend and found the restaurant on Open Table. The food was great. You could tell everything was freshly made in house. Well worth the value. If we were in the area, we would definitely enjoy another meal at the Owl.
Great service, food, and atmosphere. We were shocked it was not packed. The owner was onsite and great to talk with. He has a restaurant in Key West as well. When he said the special was Wahoo it was a no brainer. My Wahoo in the Adirondacks was Top Notch. We sat on the screened in porch which was very comfortable. Chatted with some nice folks that drove over from Indian Lake for dinner. Will definitely be back next year.
Greeted at door by substitute host, as owner had taken a well deserevd night off. Seated in table we had requested, corner of lovely screened porch overlooking herb garden. The waitress was promptly to the table, introduced herself, inquired regarding drinks, articulated the evening special, and offered to answer any questions we might have. Wine arrived in a short bit and we discussed entrees and placed our order. A beautiful evening with sun light and light breeze. The host stopped by to engage in conversation which was delightful, learded about us and we learned about him, the area, and The Owl. Dinner was served in good time, I had the Seafood Stew, delicious and precisely as described in the menu. My partner had the Chicken Scallopini with saffron rice substituted for the fettacini. For desert we chose the Key Lime Moose and the chocolate (no flour) cake. Both nicely presented and delicious. Great Experience, Fabulous Food, and fine service by waitress and substitute host. WELL DONE , OWL!
An Adirondack gem. Refined quality dining in the pristine woods. Our entire experience bordered on enchanting.
Lovely meal and evening-beautiful porch and comfortable seating available.
Great food and wine , great ambience, and great service.
Delightful porch dining nestled by the garden was peaceful and charming. The dinner was plated with an artful eye. The appetizer and main course were outstanding. My colleague stated that it was one of the best dinners she has had. Top quality ingredients prepared perfectly.
We enjoyed the evening, the owner, the waiter, the food , the desert! it was a perfect evening and I was trying to impress my guests and I really did. Guests had steak and reported how special it was. My Anne had ribs and said the same. I had lamb AND IT WAS MOUTH WATERING. Wasn't crazy about the Kale garnish but I swept it off and enjoyed the lamb. Desert was shared and got a ten from all. Thanks!
My husband and I had the mussels appetizer and the prime rib for dinner. The mussels were in a coconut broth...delicious!
We both ordered the Prime Rib. The beef was tasty and tender and done to our liking. The portions were large.
I had the Nero d’Avola red wine which is always good.
For dessert I ordered the lemon zest cheesecake with fresh berries. Very light and tasty.
If you haven’t yet tried The Owl at Twilight, I would highly recommend it. You won’t be sorry.
Thanks again Mark!
Great food, very fresh and delicious swordfish. Service was excellent. Very friendly and pleasant atmosphere. Most definitely worth the drive.
A hidden gem of the North Country. Worth the trip no matter where you are located!
Went season opening weekend. Sat on the rustic screen porch. The Owl has not lost a beat. Great new menu. shrimp ceviche and kale caesar for starters followed by the slow roasted prime rib and fresh catch of swordfish. Tasted like it just came in that day or day before. Key Lime moose and homemade espresso ice cream for dessert. Wines priced right. Will be back again soon.
Food was very good. Other than that, one of the LOOOOONGGEEST dinner experiences ever. We arrived 10 minutes early and were told that one of their servers was stuck in traffic - "but you're ten minutes early anyway". Couldn't be seated for about 20 minutes. No offer to be seated and enjoy drinks while we waited nor an invitation to sit at the small bar. We had to ask if it was OK and then we were told we would have to wait to order drinks because he was making drinks for someone else at the moment. It just went downhill from there. Was chastised for the seat I chose as the owner wanted me to sit at the seat he pulled out for me. (He did this to other guests later in the evening, as well.) Took ten minutes to get our first drink and was close to an hour and 45 minutes before our food was delivered. Didn't stay for dessert because we would have been there until midnight! AND - there were five empty tables in the room we were in - Server was fine; our guess is the kitchen couldn't keep up. Two tables that had been seated when we came in didn't get their dinners for a good hour after we arrived. Maybe it was just a bad night - but it definitely was a bad night.
I offered them spots at the bar or on the outside porch but they declined. I could not seat them as table was not ready. I told them I could get their drink order just as soon as I finished making other guests drinks. I can only make so many drinks. I'm not sure why she was upset as I always pull the chair out for the ladies. Maybe she is not used to that. It was a very busy Saturday and we did our best. We are a slower paced restaurant not like others and maybe this person didn't know that.
