Have been meaning to come here for many months (since its relaunch) and could never get a table - now I understand why! Finally got in for my daughter's 17th and had the most lovely meal. The food was delicious, fresh, light, interesting, flavoursome, carefully designed flavours, beautifully crafted.

Hadn't realised before we went that they only offer tasting menus - there are 3 different menus at varying prices - and as is typical for this approach, the whole table orders the same menu. We opted for the "entry level" menu (3 courses plus amuse bouches at the beginning and a palate cleansing sorbet). The individual courses are not huge, and my daughter and husband both opted for the additional cheese course.

One thought / criticism - neither my husband nor daughter are fans of fish, and all 3 menus contained at least one fish course. The waiter did ask about food intolerances, and I suppose we could have refused the fish at that point, but didn't. Quite a few people don't like fish, and they might like to have an easily choosable fish free offer. However, this is a quibble - overall the food was stunning.

Excellent evening celebrating a birthday. The restaurant is unpretentious and relies simply on great food and service. We spent the evening wondering when we could come back again. We had the 6 course tasting menu and only the cod dish failed to impress. It seems to be a bit of secret tucked away in Summertown but happy if that means we can get to return.

This Restaurant is the very best, even better than some of Londons best eateries. The staff are so knowledgable about the ingredients in the dishes on the menu. Very inspiring, I loved the appetisers and the selection of petit fours which were absolutely sublime. The waiters and waitresses are so courteous and all have a quiet manner. I cannot give enough praise for this restaurant. Have eaten here a few times and the standards get better and better. What more can I say.

It's really important that you take my feedback into consideration.
I appreciate and understand you are a Michelin starred restaurant: one of many I have been too.
May I suggest that you introduce a small food card menu, that the customer can refer to each time each course is served.
Ask the customer Are you happy for us to introduce each course or happy to be left alone with the menu card....leaving the customer to be undisturbed and enjoy the evening.

It's the 3rd or 4th time I've been there, It's the one reason why I'm reluctant to book.....

Each course is announced in great detail, stopping any form of conversing.....Can we take the bread....at least 4 times. I had no issue with it being on the table, unfortunately it bothered the young man serving us greatly!

I must have heard the dishes description 10 times. Not only did we have to stop our conversation.....the announcements weren't even for us but the tables either side of us, to our surprise and disapproval he got louder. It was ridiculous!!!! A night of good food catching up with a friend was a disaster!!!

Please create these cards.....
Ask the customer...What style of service they would like?
And get on with it!

You will have happier customers that are politely telling you the truth!

Great food. Exquisite tasting menu including wines. It was a fine dining experience which was what we wanted. Generally service attentive with a few slips in drinks not arriving when ordered or at one point the right wine not arriving with the particular course. Not a deal breaker but unexpected at this price level.

The food was great and the chef very adaptable to the special needs of our friend. At first the muzak was too loud but when we asked that it be turned down, they turned it down! Here are our comnpkaints: the restaurant was chilly. It should have been warmer. We had sweaters on and my husband had on a heavy wool sports coat, but we were all cold. The other problem was that the service was very very slow between courses. It took 4 hours to have our meal. Leisure is nice--and no one wants to be rushed--but it took far too long. It should have been at least an hour less--and maybe an hour and half less.

Quite simply, The Oxford Kitchen is a triumph and a delight from beginning to end with the only disappointment being the fact of having to leave to head homeward.
The warmth and sincerity of the welcome afforded by Mike and Andrzej jwas exemplary and set the tone for a wonderfully pleasant interaction throughout our stay.
Beautifully presented gin and tonic to start and we chose from the Lunch Menu albeit we were seriously tempted by the Tasting Menu. The Lunch Menu was priced at £32.50 for 2 courses and £38.50 for 3 courses - perfectly reasonable for the excellence that was to come. The introductory treats were delightful – Beetroot ‘macaroons’, Pulled Pork Cubes and crusty bread served with a light herb butter and a yeast extract butter aka Marmite!!! - a wonderful melange of flavours and textures to start our gastronomic adventure.
I started with Cured Cod served with Apple Dashi, Kohlrabi and Crab and my wife chose the Pork Croquette which was served with Spiced Pineapple, Bitter Leaves and a fried Quail’s Egg - a treat which was every bit as good for the eyes as it was for the taste buds.
We chose a very pleasant South Australian Shiraz – 2017 Good Catch which provided a fine complement to our main courses of Ox Cheek, Asparagus, Béarnaise and Hen of the Woods. The ox cheek was cooked to perfection and yielded to the slightest touch of the knife – the meat itself was tender and tasty beyond belief and the accompanying jus complemented the dish perfectly. The asparagus was cooked to crunchy perfection over a wood barbecue / grill and offered a subtly smoked taste and smell – memorable!!!!
The cheese selection was beautifully and knowledgably presented and I was amazed at just how a Palo Cortado Sherry complemented the Saint Bartholomew – inspired!!!!!
The Kitchen Team produced a wonderful and memorable lunch and the FoH Team headed by Mike and Andrzej added personality, charm, insight and knowledge to an occasion that we will definitely return.

50th birthday. Vegetarian tasting menu. Didn’t quite live up to the price tag as far as we were concerned. The maitre’d was excellent but the other waiters were good but not outstanding. Likewise for the food it was very good but not blow your socks off amazing. The wine pairing was fabulous. And we both loved the dessert.

Had dinner here on Good Friday. You have to have one of two tasting menus. We chose the Chef’s one and it was absolutely delicious - all the food was tasty and just the right sized portions. The wine pairing was also excellent - some unusual choices such as a beer - but all went really well with the dish. Super attentive service too! We’ll be back.

This was my first Michelin star restaurant experience, but my friend I came with is an experienced restaurant goer. The food was great. We took chef's tasting menu. One surprise was that the menu had to be shared by the whole table, i.e. all of us had to choose the same course set. Maybe it allows for reflexing/discussing the dishes together, but it made choosing more complex. The presentation could also be better. I felt awkward when the server talked about dishes, feeling like it was a challenge for them. It was good that I got all the info, but the overall impression it left was not the best. At one point server actually told us wrong information about wine. I did not drink wine, so it did not bother me, but my friend is serious about wine tasting, so it was quite a flaw for him. Food was great, no issues here. The pauses between the courses were pretty long too. The whole lunch took 3-4 hours. I did not have any Benchmark, but my friend said he's had faster lunches with the same amount of courses, which felt better. Interior is ok, simple, but we were seated by the door although the restaurant was empty.

Relaxed environment for a fine dining restaurant. Food presented beautifully and tasted as good as it looked. My only disappointment was that the sweet treats offered with tea at the end of the meal, a macaron and a guava jelly, were charged to our bill. They were presented more as a ‘gratuity’ much as in other restaurants so it was a shame the owners feel the need to charge.

The food was exceptional - really fun and experimental. This sort of food can be really pretentious but this was much more thoughtful and was genuinely enjoyable rather than fancy food for fancy food’s sake. The waitress was really helpful and staff generally really personable.

Paired drinks were excellent (especially the el Bulli beer) and gin and tonic menu to start the night was fun, although at £13 a pop it’s not everybody’s every-day sort of evening out.

While nothing wrong with the decor, it was pretty unspecial compared with the food. Personally I would replace the artwork on the walls and replace the Marks and Spencer’s air freshener in the toilet - I’m sure most people wouldn’t care less but it just lowered the class a little when eating Michelin starred food.

Overall though, food, drinks and service were superb and made for a really fun and special night.
