Very dissatisfied with food , over priced for portions. Menu very limited as it was a Sunday, will not be returning.
Great food as always but the service was a bit poor
Enjoyed my Sunday lunch very much. Would definitely go back.
I love this place normally, but if I had have known that there was a condensed/limited Bank Holiday Weekend Menu I probably would have gone elsewhere but as I was already sat down and ordered a drink decided to stay.
As always staff are excellent and food was lovely if a bit below their usual standard, wouldn't stop me returning though. May be just keep your website updated with menu changes, that would of avoided the little disappointment I felt when something that is on your normal lunch menu wasn't available
Had a late Birthday Meal with are best Friends never been here before and would recommend it from any occasion , good food , good beer, great service , we went on a Sunday, only do Sunday Roast , we will call again to see what’s on the Weekly Menu if it’s a good as the Sunday Roast then I will be happy 😃
Overall a good experience , food is always good. Portion sizes are a bit big but probably fine for most people.
Really nice atmosphere and good service.
Excellent Sunday Lunch/Dinner, good choice of roasts and lovely fresh seasonal vegetables.
Huge homemade yorkshire puddings and tasty gravy and big portions so go there hungry.
Extra's available such as cauliflour cheese and pigs in blankets.
Quirky and a great atmosphere, try it you will not be disappointed.
Have always enjoyed my visits to the parlour but this time unfortunately the roast beef was very over done and the yourkshire puddings were dry and slightly burnt. Most of the waiting staff are normally very friendly but we had one waitress that was a little rude and didn’t handle our complaints very well, overall a bit of a shame but I would come back.
We were concerned that Sunday lunch would not be as good as it used to be when we heard The Parlour had changed hands, we need not have worried as it was lovely, the only disappointment was the lack of cauliflower cheese as it had sold out earlier.
Loved this place. Great atmosphere and great service!
A slightly below average Sunday roast with undercooked parsnips and soggy pale roast potatoes, Yorkshire was massive but a bit dry for my liking – I like them soggier but that’s just preference. This was a real disappointment because I had heard excellent things about the Sunday roasts at Parlour. Things improved rapidly with the sticky toffee pudding and custard though which was delicious.
We were very disappointed by a dodgy Sunday lunch. Great craft beer and wine but in Chorlton that's not that hard to find. Friendly staff appeared to be over worked and so requests often need to be repeated or were forgot. The Sunday roast was very poor with rubbish roast potatoes (how do you get them wrong) boring pale beef and red cabbage that tasted like an ashtray. Happiness was provided by a yorkshire pudding the size of a babies head but not enough for me to return or recommend. This place will always be busy which is a shame when their food is now so poor.
I ordered the trio roast. The lamb was very fatty, the pork dry, but the beef was ok. The roast potatoes were cooked to the point I could have cracked my tooth on it, it was that hard. For veg I got a large portion of red cabbage and 2 pieces of parsnip. I'm not a fan of either, so can not comment if these were nice. I would have liked some green veg.
I was still hungry from not eating the lamb, veg or the potatoes, so I ordered the Apple and blackberry crumble. This was more of an apple and blackberry soup. So much liquid! There was a sprinkling of crumble on top, not enough for me to call this a crumble dessert. It came with custard that was really good, but I had to eat this on its own as there was too much liquid in the 'crumble'.
Service wasn't great. The lady serving us was really nice, but she was swamped. She got my drink order wrong (i took it back myself, I wasn't getting her attention again) When I asked for gravy for my main course, it came out a few minutes after I had already eat what I could on the plate. We were never asked if we enjoyed any part of the meal, where I would have advised, no. I do not feel this is really her fault as every table was packed, so I appreciate she was busy.
I did hear another group outside complaining that they had booked a table for a set time, but were still waiting an hour to be sat in said table. As somewhere once describes to have the best roast in Manchester, Parlour has really fallen short.
Everything was OK about the place service was a little slow and table was to small for 6 people
A lovely afternoon spent celebrating my boyfriends birthday. Good craft beers, a lovely Pinot noir (although not sure of the name) and a delicious roast. Board games were available to play and a nice, local, friendly atmosphere. I have a ton of annoying dietary requirements (including no onions, garlic or Gluten) and I had the first roast out in years thanks to the conscientious staff. Will be back!
The Parlour used to be a really nice place to go for Sunday lunch but the past two times I've visited it was very disappointing and I won't be going back. The waitresses didn't know the specials... our wine glasses were dirty and had to be replaced... when my tomato, rocket and parmesan salad came over, the waitress spilt most of the parmesan on the floor and didn't apologise, or offer to get me a fresh one. Usually I would say something but for some reason I kept quiet, I really wish I hadn't as the salad was very bland, with un-ripe tomatoes, and maybe a load of parmesan would have made it taste of something at least. The main course was good, and so was the desert, but just when we were thinking about having some coffees one of the waitresses came over and told us we would have to leave in 5 minutes as they had another booking - we were not told about only having a 2 hour slot when booking the table, or when we arrived so were pretty annoyed about being told we basically had to leave before we wanted to. Then without prompting, a minute later the waitress slapped the bill on our table without any comment and walked off. I don't expect the red carpet to be rolled out but the people working here were just rude and I would advise anyone to go to the lead station a few doors down if you want a great sunday roast and good, friendly service.
The Parlour still does the best Sunday lunches, but we were disappointed that the nut roast had been replaced with a Wellington (Wellingtons are everywhere). However, while not as good as the nut roast, this Wellington easily ranked as the best we've had.
Heard a rumour that the Parlour serve the best Sunday lunch in Manchester, and we weren’t disappointed!
I believe the management has changed. I did wonder when we dined a few months ago and it wasn't as good as it had been in the past. The bread I ordered had mould on it, and the meat was so thickly cut we couldn't chew it. My Mother in law literally couldn't eat her pork roast. When I reported the bread, they didn't even apologise, and when I pointed out how thick and inedible the meat was - due to the cut, they shrugged. However we liked this place so much, we wanted that to be a one off and give it another try. This time we felt that what they offer for the price was much less, and not quite to the standard as before. Also there was a grub in my friend's salad. The waitress laughed when we told her, and she also pointed out it would be sterile because it would have been boiled. She didn't really apologise or take it seriously. She cleared the plate and then a manager came and said my friend's dessert would be free. Her husband was not impressed by that and went and had a quiet word. They removed the cost of the lunch - apparently quite happily. For me the bigger issue than something in the salad - which happens, I get that, is that in both cases when something was quite wrong with the food, there was a complete lack of interest on the part of the staff or management. Anyways long story short we won't be back, and we are quite sad because we used to go for Sunday lunch at least once every other month for the past 2 or 3 years.
A very disappointing visit. I booked on line and under special requirements asked for peas as there are few vegetables I eat. No peas available on arrival so no veg with my meal. Why ask for dietary requirements then ignore them. When I visited before for Sunday lunch they provided peas no problem. Ruined my meal. This has been my fave venue for Sunday lunch for a long time. Not any more.
Friendly staff and excellent food, not too expensive, what more do you need?
Very nice pub grub. Very welcoming staff. Great beer/ale options available.
50% off deal... great value and good quality food but horrendous service. We ordered mains only. Took over an hour. Kept getting told it would be 5 mins, then told it was our fault as they thought we would have ordered starters.... I really do love this pub and want to rate it better but the service was atrocious
Food was excellent and a steal with their 50% off for January deal. Had the short rib and a steal, both really tasty, well cooked and hearty portion sizes. The food has really improved since they were taken over in June last year, it was fine before but we've really enjoyed it the last couple of times we've been.
The waitress recommended a Spanish Bobol wine which we really enjoyed as a change from the more obvious choices.
The only let down was pudding which we suspect was bought in and not homemade but for 50% off we'll let them off!
it was awesome - LOVE the 50 per cent off such great value for such wonderful food
Top quality food in nice surroundings. Good choice of beers
Excellent food, great service and atmosphere, only reason for 4* due to the starter I had chosen was sold out at 7.45 on a Friday night!
Really enjoyed the food & great value with the 50% January discount, but the place was cold and had a really strong smell of dogs! Not being a dog owner myself, I find it really unpleasant that a large no. of bars & restaurants now allow dogs & encourage it by providing dog bowls - sorry not for me!
Forgotten how good the food is here!! We had a great evening with friends catchig up over some great food and drink. Thanks for looking after us on my birthday.
The Sunday roasts are very nice, the staff are really friendly and the service is really fast, I would recommend this to a friend.
Always lovely - one of the best Sunday roasts in Manchester!
my favourite for Sunday dinner. Lovely food and good service. Shame that two of the desserts had run out!
Delicious Sunday roast. Couldn't fault the service. Lovely atmosphere
Great place if you love dogs.
Tasty Sunday late lunch - lamb cooked perfectly with ginormous Yorkshire puddings and plenty of gravy. Will definitely be returning.
Not as good as usual. Slow service. Tiny steak - what happened to the big Frosty rib-eye? No mushroom or tomato either. Flavour good but not enough for the money (£20). Burger better. Still pretty good, but not up to usual high standards.
Nice food in a good atmosphere, it's a little more expensive than I'd like to pay in terms of bar prices.
However, it's a really nice place and always good to eat and drink there
I came with the family for a Sunday roast after friend recommended it to us and I'll happily recommend it to everyone. One of the best Sunday roasts I've ever had! Great location, great athmosphere and great food!
We were really looking forward to enjoying a Sunday Dinner that is referred to as the best in Manchester. We dined at 6pm on Sunday 10th September. The ribs for starter were tasty and delicately seasoned. My husbands lamb was tasty. The stuffing was very tasty and 3 of us enjoyed the lovely Yorkshire puds. We were bitterly disappointed with the beef. My daughters and I ordered beef and despite it being lovely and pink it was very tough. I dosed it with the gravy (which could have had more depth) and added a good spoonful of the horseradish which was perfect with just the right amount of kick. It was a meal to celebrate my husbands birthday and it was a let down with the beef which should have been the star. Also there were only two puddings on offer...one with pine nuts and the other with courgette. Needless to say the children opted to go home and enjoy dads chocolate birthday cake and we joined them (but married it with Floralus Moscatel wine). I wonder if the fabulous Sunday Dinner is experience only between 12-2?
The service wouldn't have been commented on if the food had been good but despite the very lovely and warm welcome we received when we arrived and we're quickly seated we were just as quickly forgotten and had to chase up menus and in the end felt like we were inconveniencing the waiting staff.
Such a disappointing experience for a restaurant with a wonderful reputation - perhaps we just unlucky!
we are regulars on beech rd and go at least 2 times a month and since the parlour has been taken over the food is definitely not as good as before. the sunday dinners used to be the dogs but we won't be dining on sundays anymore I'm afraid!! gutted really as we really liked it before !!!!!!
