Amazing food, fantastic service and a lovely atmosphere. Would highly recommend.
Had wedding reception here previously and always like to pop back when we can. This time we dined in the more formal upstairs restaurant.
The staff retention tells me a lot about the management of the place and the dedication of the staff is evident with the whole experience at The Peasant.
The Peasant is my favourite place in London for roasts on a Sunday. The flavour of their roast is unbeatable and its good value for money. I travel from Brixton to here because it's so good!
Great selection on the menu, huge portions and good quality food
It’s not good, it’s not even OK
Great service but epic fail not having custard on the menu in winter.
Nice place whit good food and beer. The restaurant part was closed (maybe because it was Sunday). Some things on the menu were missing, but the one served was very tasty. Desserts are also very good.
Great beer selection and a nice pub, but not a good restaurant.
Excellent tasty food. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food arrived without delay and at the perfect temperature.
Restaurant empty and food expensive for what it was.
Great food, we had the Sunday Roast which was very nice indeed! Matched with good drinks great service made for a good experience. Recommended 👍 Thanks everyone at The Peasant.
Fantastic food and service as usual!
Incredible food, amazing value! Nothing negative about our experience! It’s a wonderful local pub and can’t wait to dine again.
The food is always amazing, with great ambiance. Keep coming back!
I had my wedding reception here so knew it would be good, but the friends I ate with had not been before. They loved it: tasty food, great staff, really good value for money and we were able to chat at the table after we’d finished our meal. Perfect. We’ll be back!
Celebrated my friend's birthday here and it was so lovely. It's not too busy in here, and a lovely setting. Our server was friendly and the food was great. Really decent size portions as well. Definitely good value.
Really impressed by The Pheasant, the roast was excellent with well cooked meat, crunchy vegetables and a really tasty yorkshire pudding. The staff were attentive and the food came out promptly. The pub is a classic example of the grand Victorian boozer and perfectly placed for a walk around the Barbican after lunch. Will return!
14 people plus 4 kids all under 5. Really good Sunday roast and accommodating staff. Great wine list that we worked through. Recommended.
For a family dinner this was the perfect location and really relaxed but good quality food and a bit more special than just being downstairs in the pub. We were there on a Friday night and our waitress was absolutely lovely, and made such an effort to be friendly and engage with us as customers. My only criticism was the butternut squash tart starter had clearly been made ahead and reheated, so the filling had dried out and the pastry was a bit soft. This was a shame because all of the rest of the food was excellent. We will be back!
I had the veggie roast which was lovely and the wine selection was good. Our server was very attentive and friendly.
Food was excellent and great value at 3 courses for £26. The waitress was fantastic. The food was very tasty and the portion sizes were very large. I would highly recommend it.
We found a hair in our food. The staff told us it's unavoidable. In fact it is avoidable, kitchen staff should be wearing hair nets.
Hi Christa, It is so disappointing to hear that you found a hair in your food, I am not sure where this could have come from, as all our chefs do wear hair nets and we take food hygiene very seriously as reflected in our 5 star food hygiene rating. Customer service is a mainstay at The Peasant and nothing would please us more than if you would return and let us give you the exceptional experience and food you expect
I had clearly booked for the restaurant (upstairs), but, when I entered the restaurant, I was met by a rather officious young woman who said the restaurant was full with private functions, so we would have to eat downstairs in the bar ("where we have set out restaurant tables", whatever that was supposed to mean). So we were in the fairly noisy bar, though it quietened down later, and with the bar menu. The young man serving us did his best and the food was good, but I was not best pleased to have my booking changed and I won't be going there again.
Love this place, got married here 2 years ago and come back as often as possible. Sunday lunch is stunning!! Highly recommend.
Not my first review of The Peasant. Safe to say my visit today was no different from my previous ones. In short, a happy one.
Fantastic Sunday roast. Charlie, our waiter could not have been better. Great food, great value. Canadian friends loved the whole experience.
Sunday 9th June Walked out after waiting 1 hour 15 mins for our undercooked main course to arrive. Staff saying sorry did not make up for this disaster. A party of 30+ along with other diners just OVERWHELMED this place. Will be a long time before I consider going again after ruining our Sunday lunch. We paid for our starters and drinks then left.
It is upsetting to learn of your experience on Sunday. We did have a very busy lunch with a couple of large groups and we made a mistake with your table, for which I am very sorry. This is no excuse for any visit being spoilt due to delays in service. I will be discussing your comments with the team. We would hope to have another opportunity to put things right and that you would consider returning and allow us to give you the exceptional experience you should have received on your last visit
Staff were brilliant and handled our large party seamlessly
Have yet to be let down. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Great place to meet. We were 7.
We had to wait for some of our party to arrive, however, we enjoyed a pre dinner drink. Once all arrived we were swift to order but it took soooo long for the mains to arrive we were beyond caring. Staff were very attentive re drinks but food took so long. Especially as our order went in before a table of similar size to ours. Most dishes good but avoid: veggie cauliflower, ribs and fish n chips. All soooo Dry! No apols for delay. Everything +12.5% so not over the moon.
Absolutely delicious, friendly staff and a great Bloody Mary - will be back next time I’m in London.
My only complaint was that it was a bit noisy - maybe turn the music down a little as everyone needs to speak loudly to be heard about the noise
Very good food
Tasty, nicely presented food, friendly service, characterful building, decent wine list, excellent beer.
Fantastic food, accommodating with drinks requests and speedy service. What more could you want from a stylish gastro-pub? Highly recommended!
Lovely meal for a large group of us, something for all of us on the menu despite challenging dietary requirements, tasty large portions and good service
Excellent Sunday roast, particularly the pork was first rate. The normal menu is very good as well. It’s a local for us, we keep coming back again and again.
Very lacking in atmosphere for a Friday evening. Only 2 other tables with couples and quite a large area. The bonus was the fire as we were seated in front of it on a very cold evening.
You enter through an old pub, which has all the atmosphere of an old pub, decent a dark old staircase and suddenly you are in a warm, inviting gem of a restaurant. Intimate service, an open fire, excellent food just a stone's throw from The Angel, Islington.
