Rubbish, every time the same problem, had to wait 40 min for someone to tell us there's a technical problem! this place will never change CRAP CRAP CRAP!!
We all had a delicious meal at The Pepys. A really nice venue and lovely food. the staff were helpful with our varied food issues!
The food was terrible - we had to send a dish back due to the chemical taste in the salsa covering it. Service was slow (but we had a friendly waitress) and we were sat in the middle of a corporate event. Overpriced food, and the beautiful view of the Thames is blocked by the number of smokers crowded on the balcony. I would not recommend.
The service whilst friendly was very slow especially considering there were only 2 tables ordering food at the time we were there.
We ordered the Advocado salad which was a main course charged at £14. The size was that of a SMALL starter portion. I queried whether we had been given a main course as was told that we had. The salad had one small piece of asparagus and 2 slices of tomato and a small amount of buffalo mozzarella with a sprinkle of pine nuts. It is a long long time since I have been to a restaurant where I felt I was being ripped off for food, but the Pepys scored a maximum 10 for that. Would certainly never go there again.
We really love The Pepys, thse staff are lovely and it has a great ambience. The food is superb
Delicious food. But it took nearly an hour to arrive. They had a problem with the steak which they had to change. I trust that will be quicker next time. Unasked, they took the drinks off the bill to recompense.
The BBQ chicken pizza was delicious and really fresh!
Service was so slow that the waitresses were confused. One came over to ask if we wanted coffee and the bill before our food had even arrived.
When it did come, my steak was ok, but my colleague's venison was undercooked and tough.
Won't be going back.
Amazing staff, so helpful and brill, yum food and cheap for how good it was. Quiet and amazing view
Venue absolutely delightful, service extremely slow, we waited 40 minutes for our one and only course, when the food eventually came out it was cold, as we were on our lunchtime break we did not have the time to wait for fresh food. This delightful eating venue is spoilt by such disorganised service, it could be great but is not.
We waited over an hour for the lamb tagine and it came out cold. For the price, it was not worth it. Manager was lovely and offered us a free glass of wine which was appreciated. Disappointing as Pepys used to be lovely.
It has been my second time in Pepys Restaurant, and once again I was really impressed by the quality of food. The menu is really versatile and everyone is able to find something to their taste. We didn't have to wait long and all was just delicious. Probably the best sticky toffee pudding I have ever had! I would say a hidden germ in the City where you can eat well and don't pay through your nose.
Service was very slow and two of our party that ordered medium rare stakes were disappointed as stakes were more rare than medium rare. The manager did come over to discuss the steak situation which was good but disagreed with the table regarding how they had been cooked. Given the wait for our mains there was a reluctance to ask for the steaks to be re-cooked so two of our parties had to make do with a below expectations main course.
In summary, modern looking pub, novel urinal game with nice Thames view. Service and food overall was disappointing. I wouldn't rush to go back and, if so, would avoid ordering the steak and would recommend sticking to something simple like a burger which was fine.
After the waitress seated us,she told us there were some dishes unavailable or limited - no burgers, 1 fish dish left, 1 pork dish left and no Mac and cheese dish. We didn't have a lot of choices. It took us about a good 15 minutes to find a waitress to take our order. About 30 minutes later, our food hasn't even arrived so called a waiter to check upon it and said it was coming. Finally, our food was served but it was warm instead of hot. I suspect the staff forgot about our food! My friend ordered a steak. It should have come with a sauce and grilled tomato but nope that was missing on the plate. The chips were awful - so greasy.
Overall, I would not recommend this place.
This was my first visit to Pepys and I was suitably impressed. Brilliant views across the Thames, although it was a shame it was a little cold outside as it would have been nice to have had the door open. The lunch menu was extremely comprehensive and our food very enjoyable. Their chunky chips are delicious! Overall a nice meal and we will definitely return.
Service has always been very slow here although after complaining a couple of times things seem to pick up. Today really took the biscuit. Food was ordered at 12.45 and did not arrive until 13.30 (despite asking 3 times). My 'hot' sandwich was cold, my colleagues sandwich was requested with no mayo and of course arrived with mayo and our side order of fries arrived when the waitress was clearing our plates as we had all finished (again asked twice during our meal when they would arrive). Complained to the manager who gave us a measly 10% off. We have decided that, despite the lovely location and restaurant we will only be coming here for drinks in future!
This is an excellent venue, great views on to the Thames and an impressive menu of food and drink. Unfortunately the service isn't good and felt like a nuisance whenever we had to deal with the staff. Maybe it was just the staff we had when we were there.
Great location right on the Thames and i would return for a drink perhaps but definitely not a meal. The service was incredibly slow (even though it wasn't that busy) and the food was pretty bland..the burgers were dry, steaks were so so. A disappointing experience all in all.
Great views over the Thames - lovely weather when we visited but not too easy to find as it is tucked away down an alley. Service was fine and food standard pub fayre. Would recommend but don't expect gourmet cooking.
Despite the pub being far from full we still ended up sitting at a sticky table that had clearly not been wiped particularly well. We ordered drinks, (3 x bottled beers) at the same time as we ordered our starters, but the drinks didn't turn up until after the starters, and after 3 attempts at reminding the waitress! The menu isn't that extensive, (not a problem in itself), but it does mean that the waitress shouldn't be accepting an order only to find that that item is 'off' when she gets it to the kitchen. Final niggle is that we weren't offered any glasses with our bottled ale, we had to ask for them, and although they were probably clean they were streaked with drying marks all over them - not exactly welcoming!
Took old colleague for lunch. Food, as usual, was good. However, service was slow. Given the restaurant was only ever 1/2 full throughout the time I was there this was a bit surprising. However, we were in no hurry so wasn't unduely annoyed but anyone wanting a quick bite would have been fuming.
There was a private party on not a good time to have a quiet meal for 2
Ordered Pizza sorry no Pizzas chose another meal and guess what the Pizza turned up very overcooked.
Drunken couple behind us had to move tables to finish our meal.
i ordered ceaser salad, but the amount is too little compared to the price and very disappointed, so we think we have just drink there for theveiw overlooking thames but not the food itself. Meal's value is not worth it for the pracie and your effort to visit there. Just have a drink at terrace only weather is great.
It is many years since our group had visited the Pepys. It was great to return and the location and the bar aspect is still really good. However, the food is mediocre and not of the quality to make you want to make it a regular place for dining. There is opportunity to make this much better. The service in the restaurant was also somewhat haphazard but we still had an enjoyable evening.
When I visited for dinner and the view is really good. The outside door was open because it was a sunny night but it was quite cold, first restaurant I had to wear my coat while eating. I am vegetarian and their wasn't lots of choices but about the same as the average restaurant. (A Margarita pizza or a vegetarian burger) The food was average, not amazing.
The reason you go to the restaurant is because of a great view, nice for a date if they don't leave the patio door open.
Good location and service, food was ok but not many healthy options
I took at client here for lunch , the venue is lovely over looking the Thames . The food was okay pub grub , however the service was terrible , one person serving the entire restaurant
I will not be returning
Couldn’t believe how dead it was on Valentine’s Day-made me look terrible
I went there for lunch with some work colleagues and asked for a table by the window. Was very happy with the food, service and the view of the shard.
This was a perfect location for a family celebration, not too fussy, not too difficult, value for money. The food was tasty and presented well. Don't expect michelin stars but it was certainly perfect for what we were looking for. A wonderful location. Excellent service also.
Fabulous location with great views across the Thames. Wanted somewhere quiet to chat and this fitted the bill brilliantly. Service excellent, and food both good and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend
One of the worst dining experiences I've had. Food took about an hour to come out, and then it was lukewarm yet completely overcooked. Quite amazing how they managed to get that combo. Seriously dont bother. OK place for a beer (even if there are much better places within 2 minutes walk), but that's about all I can say that's positive about this place.
Booked here for an early eveining meal after watching a fab performance at the Globe Theatre. Great to able to see the Globe across the river from 'The Pepys', Bar staff and waietr were exceptionally friendly, welcoming and helpful. It all added to the enjoyment of my special birthday day out. Food was good and reasonably priced.
Meal with friends. We had a lovely river view. All our meals were very good.
Good location overlooking Thames. Profesionall service. Will coem back
I had booked lunch with a vegetarian colleague. The online menu looked fine. When we arrived the restaurant was virtually empty. The menu for my colleague had the choice of tired old goat's cheese and walnut tart, which seems to appear on every single menu in London or pretty much the same on a pizza. She chose the latter and was presented with an anaemic looking pizza which didn't look properly cooked to me. Unfortunately, she was unwilling to complain. When she tried to eat it the crust was so tough she couldn't cut through it. It was accompanied by nothing whatsoever, no salad garnish or anything. My fish and chips was ok but not exactly brilliant. The service, however, was good and the waitress and waiter attentive but not intrusive.
We had a comfortable and relaxed department lunch. The food was good and reasonably priced and the atmosphere was pleasant. The view across the Thames is great. We often eat there and would recommend others to go there. The service was ok, I would have liked our order to have been taken a little quicker after receiving our drinks. On the whole it was a nice lunch and we will be returning.
Fantastic location overlooking the Thames.
Very small balcony but a very good bar - so good for drinks.
Food - nearly every starter had to be re-ordered as the fridge was empty.
Food took for ever to come out despite booking at 6:30pm and the place was not busy.
Food orders were wrong.
Waitress could barely speak English making it extremely difficult to order the correct food.
When the food came out wrong the waitress was bordering on angry when told it was incorrect.
Food was completely average.
The price was reasonable and if you want a burger or pizza then fine but don't be any rush and don't expect a fantastic food experience.
Would I go again - only for a drink and to be honest there are lots of better bars along the Thames.
Lovely view across the river thames. The food is very reasonable and the service was excellent.
Being able to enjoy a longer than usual 60 min lunch I really enjoyed lunch at the S Pepys as, whilst the food was the usual fodder for this type of place, but really good for that! - the 5 star rating was for the staff who just left my companion and I to enjoy the food and the view. Well done to them for getting on with their business and not rushing us out the door as can be the case.
