The Pheasant started serving top quality food in 1964, before the term gastro-pub had been invented. It"s a beautiful, thatched, traditional inn, 12 miles west of Huntingdon, set in a sleepy farming village. The large bar is a traditional and unspoilt mixture of oak beams, large open fires and simple wooden furniture. At the rear there's a more airy Garden Room with a sunny and stylish patio garden beyond.

The Hoskins family ran it until 2007 - and now (in 2012) have it back, with Simon Cadge as Chef Patron. Great food, a genuinely warm welcome, real ales, award-winning wine list, log fires and a herb garden. Everything you would hope for in a country inn.

We have lunch/supper usually on racing days at Huntingdon since we are not local. Last week it was to meet up with friends and the food was better than ever - excellent. Think the dining room wallpaper could do with a change!

A much anticipated get together with old friends we hadn't seen for a while. The food and service were great. Interesting menu which did not disappoint. We had a range of choices and all of them were lovely. A very enjoyable evening.

This is a fabulous restaurant. It is not cheap, but still very good value for the quality. Ideal for a quiet evening.

Having just moved to the village,,,,what a gem!
Warm welcome and service. The Sunday lunch menu was excellent. The Fish pie was tasty with every mouthful, and the roast dinner was delicious. have booked again , so that says it all.
How lucky are we to have a wonderful local.

This is a very good restaurant indeed. Simon is an accomplished chef. The only noteworthy fault is the organisation of service. We have been here several times, and always the same affliction.... we know good food doesn't appear instantly, but the team, friendlyand kind hearted though they are need some serious training in observing and reacting to their customers. Sitting people down with a menu, then waiting 20 minutes before thinking of taking the order gets very frustrating. Ordering 3 drinks and 15 minutes later still waiting for one of them to arrive isn't great. Forgetting to supply the bill when asked , then having to be reminded is pretty foolish. I have spoken to several folk who come here who all make the same observation, and some have said they are reluctant to come back - everything is so good, save that there has been a serious failing in the ability of the waiting staff to observe their customers and understand what they should do!!!! A modest investment in professional training could correct these errors, but I'm not sure that the owners are aware of them and their significance

Great atmosphere and good food, however I feel the service was average, particularly around the bar area possibly lack of staff as it was reasonably busy. However, we enjoyed our meal.
I would like personally to see the menu simplified as the flavours were all there, nevertheless they became masked as for me I think the dishes were a little complex.
For me simply high quality ingredients well cooked and presented are the key to a great menu, just my opinion.

Excellent 70th birthday celebration with delightful personal touches - always useful to have taught the staff's children (well, almost always! ) and have a son who's worked with the chef! Many thanks for the Happy Birthday truffle. Exquisite! Great to see the Pheasant maintaining the highest standards, great food at reasonable prices.
