Our service was quick, food was wonderful, not my 1st time here. I got Irish Breakfast, others had Ham & Cabbage and Fish and Chip ( nice piece of fish).... We lingered for several hours afterwards for music.
I had the Guinness stew - it was out standing ! … and the service was great
It was a great time, great service and great food with a nice beer selection!
Great Irish comfort food on the regular menu with a selection of gourmet specials (ex. Crab stuffed shrimp and calamari that was to die for). Pub-like atmosphere With a contemporary twist. Went back for dinner on a Sunday and there was a live jam session of keyboard and violins playing awesome Irish music. Will be going back if ever in Philly again!
Great pub...excellent shepherds pie...service was wonderful...would highly recommend for lunch
Sunday night is always a favorite time to visit The Plough and the Stars. The traditional Irish music greets you when you walk in the door, as does the warm smell of the wood-burning fire. The food is always delicious and the wait staff are friendly. The music is a great background for dinner conversation but not overbearing. The historic building is as beautiful as it is comfortable. Highly recommend for locals and visitors alike.
Very long wait for food; adults got theirs before the kids. Server said wait was because they had a large group party upstairs (so message is they can’t handle large groups well.) Server dropped pasta with hot butter sauce onto one of the kid’s lap. While it was a bad experience overall it was made up for by the genuine apology from owner/manager. Food tab was waived. Very classy move. Will give it another chance in the future.
Bar staff was 5 stars. The food was 5 stars. Our waiter, Tim was amazing and personable.
We go here all the time, but they managed to make it a different and special experience. The waitstaff were having a wonderful time, Marion’s playlist was awesome and the Valentines’ menu was so good. All in all, a terrific night.
Salmon was delicious and our server was very accommodating.
Excellent fish and chips! Just what I was looking for. Sat outside and had great service.
Great place for brunch with friends, not rushed which was appreciated. Food delicious! Forgot to take a pic .
This seems like a great place to come to grab a drink. It was not outstanding for a dinner as it was very very loud, to the point it was difficult to have a conversation. The food was pretty average. The brussel sprouts were good as was the shepard's pie, though there was more juice than my liking. The small fish and chips were very 3 small fish sticks with more breading than fish and about 10 fries. Probably won't come back to eat.
We went the night a band was playing and didn't know, and it was very loud. Could not hear my friends. It was too much and it was earlier in the evening (6:45p)
Our waitress was wonderful, very efficient and nice. Love the atmosphere. The food was great!
First experience was amazing! Great food, great staff!
I love Plough and the Stars, it is one of my favorite places in Philadelphia. In fact, I love it so much that I am willing to write a review and I NEVER write reviews. It’s one of those places with the perfect “3”1. Ambiance 2. Music 3. Food
This place also has beautiful high ceilings and really sweet staff! It’s warm, but also trendy but not too trendy it’s literally just right!!!!! The food is fantastic as well. The grilled Brussels sprouts are my go to!!! Love you guys!!!!
Food was delicious and dessert was out of this world.
Great atmosphere, parking right next door. Easy in and out for a nice night out in the city.
Great food for Restaurant Week. Lots of choices. Our server, David was very accomodating.
Only problem was noise and music made it a little difficult to talk to fellow diners.
Came here for restaurant week and it was such a disappointment.the basmati rice I ordered tasted like it was wrapped in plastic, and the salmon was coated in weird egg type dish. Overall, I would spend my money elsewhere. Not worthy of participating in restaurant week. Service was also not the greatest. Had to ask multiple times for a refill on water. I also had to wait a while to get a fork when my food was replaced. Not a good experience.
I would definitely recommend The Plough and the Stars to a couple or a group of folks...who already know each other very well. Why? Well the food here is excellent. The service we had was great. The general vibe of the place was very friendly...but that leads to a noise level that makes it a little difficult to have any more than just casual conversation. Still an awesome choice! :)
My meal was phenomenal. When I asked my waiter for help with a drink idea since I am fasting from Alcohol, he jumped right into it and made me a virgin mojito. Everyone was so nice and welcoming.
It was a great place to go to eat and relax for dinner. The food was great.
It was restaurant week in Philadelphia. Sometimes places aren’t always at their best due to the crowds and limited menus during this week. Not the Plough, food and service were fantastic. They we’re very busy and no one tried to rush us out. Very good experience.
We had 3 birthdays in our party. Service was good food was good. They even acknowledged our Facebook check in. Pretty cool
Went for the music on Sunday, which did not disappoint. I thought food was just okay. I will return and try other menu items.
A friend and I met for brunch. We both had the same salmon omelet, which was outstanding. Our server, Tim, got it that we hadn't seen each other in awhile and would be having a leisurely afternoon. He checked in periodically, made sure our water glasses were full, and never seemed the slightest bit anxious to see us out of there. We stayed more than two hours. Lovely!
Food and service where good atmosphere was great!
Celebrating New Year’s Eve with friends. Third year in a row. Got great table behind Host station and had fantastic food with great service. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.
A fun environment. Had a great time watching the Eagles game there with other fans that were polite, appropriate and fun while having some drinks and pretty good food.
Literally would make the trip to Philly just for this restaurant!
Went for Christmas Day dinner , what a lovely experience! Beautiful decorations - wonderful vibe and food was great! 🎄David was our server and he was amazing. Thanks Plough and the Stars, we’ll be back
Awesome time. Very good food al around the table. Good Guinness, also. Trad band was great. Took us right back to Ireland.
Wonderful Sunday brunch by the fireplace with the magnificent soaring Christmas tree in view. Delicious Chicken curry and Shepherd’s pie were washed down with a few pints of Guinness. Tim was our server, and he is a great new addition to the staff.
