We booked for a special occasion as we were also staying at the hotel. The menu was limited but I ordered from the daily menu and my husband ordered from the chefs specials. We were totally underwhelmed and disappointed. The standard of food did not match the pricing and we felt the menu just didn’t work.
Attractive contemporary restaurant with a beautiful seaview. Comfortable seating and professional, attentive service. A carefully thought out menu offering table d'hote and a la carte dishes . Good wine list. Food is impeccably presented and thought out, visually very attractive and is a fusion of flavours and textures making for an excellent eating experience. Highly recommended.
Fantastic food, amazing staff especially the lady manager. Lamb was amazing. Cannot recommend enough.
Excellent food, super staff and service, really good ambience.
Overall food was excellent but with the exception of the trainee waiter who was also excellent and very attentive, below average service let down this restaurant. Other staff were not attentive and it was often hard to get someone’s attention to remind them of things that had been forgotten (eg butter was delivered to our table but not bread, and there was a long gap of over half an hour between our main and dessert).
Good food and location but service not so good. Hotel looking a bit tired?
I have booked a table for my family for Sunday Roast on 18th Aug. Surprisingly noticed that in peak season there were only two tables in the main restaurant which is quite disappointing.
The service and food were amazing. However, I believe that £19 for Sunday roast is very pricey hence few customers.
The food was very nice but the portions were very small.
Wonderful views to enjoy your meal very friendly staff
I have seen reviews on here and must say i do not agree the night me and my other half had was amazing. The food was great tasting and looked above and beyond what i was expecting. The service was polite and on point and the location is to die for. A big thank u to all whi made our night so special. If you are looking for a romantic dinner i can not reccomend this place more . Again thank u so much for a wonderful evening
We went for lunch on a Thursday so the restaurant was not at all busy, although there was a wedding reception in the hotel. It was my husbands 70th birthday. We arrived in good time and had a drink in the bar, which has great views over the bay, and is light and airy, but in need of an update.
The restaurant was lovely, much better decor and furniture. The food was good, we ordered light bites as a starter, both were very nice but absolutely no garnish. Haddock and chips, looked more appetising but the batter was thick and not cooked through.
Having mentioned to the lady behind the bar it was my husbands birthday, and because she showed an interest and asked how old he was, I was hoping for some recognition. Not free food, but maybe some piped writing on his plate to say happy birthday, I’ve seen this done before, it’s a nice personal touch, but I’m sorry to say there was nothing. No one said anything and lunch was over, costing £70 for the food and two glasses of wine. I was disappointed, I had high hopes for this meal but it was actually nothing special.
Delicious food, however a little pricey! Portion sizes were fairly small.
Another nice meal with good service. However food was not as good as usual. Not sure whether they are on a cost cutting spree or new chef?
The location is very good. At the moment in full school holiday mode.
Meal was marred by a very unpleasant incident with a very officious and rude lady as we left the dining room. She first of all insisted that we hadn’t paid the bill. Then said we had paid the wrong bill! We were marched back to the table, where the waitress managed to convince her that we had paid!! A disappointing ending to a nice evening with friends who had come to stay with us for the weekend!
Nice restaurant overlooking the sea. Bit expensive but nicely served in an unhurried way. Limited choice but suited us.
The food was good, but there was only 1 main vegetarian option, which was really disappointing.
Lovely restaurant. Service was very good. Food excellent. Ask for tap water. The bottled water was £4.20!
We ate at this restaurant for our 10th Wedding Anniversary. We had a fabulous evening and loved the views out of the window. Truly was a magical evening with a fabulous waitress Lynette who made sure our visit was welcoming. The food was delicious and would highly recommend before this venue shuts down in a few years time.
Would absolutely recommend that you book here. Found prices reasonable. Food superb. We both had the deep fried prawns to start. I had the sole as a main and my partner the seafood curry. Both yummy. The sole was the best I have had.
The views across Poole harbour were gorgeous. Definitely try get a seat where you can take advantage of the views. Early Booking essential.
Food was nice though we found the menu very limited.
It’s quite overpriced for what you got but I think here you are paying for the location. Unfortunately we didn’t get a table with a sea view so that wasn’t really of any benefit to us.
Food is amazing, all beautifully presented and wonderful infusions. Ambience is none existent, only thing worth looking at is the ferry going back and forth. Service was terrible, you have to pour your own wine, cannot find anyone to ask for more water, not offered a coffee or after dinner drink. Not a place to feel relaxed or for a special occasion more like a pub bistro.
I’m afraid although the Haven is a smart hotel it was very cold in the dining room. My fish and chips was very poor quality. The batter was rock hard and very scant dry fish within. Also I asked for garden peas and not mushy but only mushy peas were served! We were compensated with one dessert at no cost.
The best part of the meal was the view. Very poor value for the money. Nothing delicious about the food.
A great disappointment as it was a special occasion .
From the minute we arrived we were given a very warm and attentive welcome by the hostess who took us to out table. The menu is narrow and didn’t align with the website, but that didn’t matter. We would prefer that, when the food is well prepared, to perfection. Nothing frozen or made from yesterdays leftovers! (Ie fish pie etc!!!) Good wine list. The salmon appetiser was excellent and the lamb main cooked to perfection. A good selection of cheese, and great sticky
pudding. One thing one needs to mention, the view!!! WOW! The restaurant is at sea level and overlooks the main channel into the harbour! Hadn’t realised how
Rusty the Barfleur looks close up as it slipped past!
A lovely evening with excellent food and wine. Enjoyable time.
Fantastic location with great food and serviced. Pricing was tolerable but ambitious, I guess the location makes up about 10%. Waiting staff superb, polite and attentive without being disruptive, never felt rushed nor did we have to wait.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The views were spectacular, the service very efficient and friendly and the food very different and delicious. Definitely one of the best dining experiences we have ever had.
As always my favourite venue for a special occasion. I cannot fault the excellent service and delicious food. Keep up the good standard!
Service very poor, staff seemed indifferent and we frequently had to ask for things. Almost all staff in the restaurant dropped something, glasses, plates, cutlery it was never ending. Clearly not trained on uncorking champagne or how to pour it.
Food excellent, but the service badly let’s this place down
Last time I visited the food was of a higher standard. I was disappointed the service was very slow. We had to pour our own wine. We had to wait 30 minutes for dessert. Such a shame as we travelled two hours to celebrate a birthday.
Very good service, lovely food , perhaps a bit pricey. Highly recommended.
Food nicely cooked but very pricey and very small portions. Husband asked where the nearest fish and chop shop was when we'd finished.
Hotel is look like it needs a make over I was very disappointed at our room, some of the staff not the friendliest !!!
Very pleasant staff and good food. Ambiance could be improved with reduced lighting.
Lovely afternoon tea. Highly reccomend.
Lovely food, very well presented, a little pricey, but worth paying the extra for a special meal out. Staff very efficient.
Lovely setting for lunch overlooking the sea. Staff were not very efficient waiting a long time for drinks. Meal was ok my husbands meat was very fatty.
Had a love stay at Christchurch harbour hotel and staff made our time enjoyable.
It was a superb meal - we fell foul of not checking the menu though as it was Valentine's Day and had not realised there was only one option, which was a 5 course meal. Our fault for not checking but this could have been made known to us at some point when booking. The food arrived timely, was very pleasant, portion sizes generous and delightfully presented. Service was speedy and staff welcoming and accommodating.
Service very slow, not busy but one hour for a starter, not good. Main course was chicken with Cavolo Nero which turned out to be Savoy cabbage when asked the waitress to query this with the chef the response was that Cavolo Nero was out of season!!!! All I can say is he clearly doesn’t know either his produce or his clientele. Co-op in Swanage has so much it’s even reduced!
Staff were all helpful and friendly.
The food was excellent. Cannot fault it!
