We have had a booking for 19:00, I have had the confirmation email and we were on our way. Traffic in Sandbanks was really bad due to roadworks, and I know they keep the table for 15 minutes but I thought I will call to let them know we migjt be late. I called just before 19:00, a guy picked up. He was nice and he said there might be an issue because he cannot find our booking, he placed me on hold trying to resolve the issue and then after several minutes (while we were stuck in traffic on the way there), a lady picked up the phone. I suppose she was a manager, But not sure she did not present herself. And she sharted the conversation with “right , what is the issue what is the name on the booking?” Confirmed my name the 4th time and she started rasing her voice at me, like it was my fault and saying we are busy and I don’t have a table for you. (No apologies, not trying to help just a blunt “f**k you attitude and raised voice). This is a restaurant which presents itself above the regular restaurants and pubs around here but this employee is ruining the image. I understand language barrier can sometimes be an issue, but this lady was rude and her attitude was discusting. I will raise this further.

John Dory dish was pretty good but monkfish was unpleasant, crudely spiced and under seasoned. With two beers and no starter or pudding, total cost was over £75 for two of us. A decent meal with wine for two would cost around £125+

Food was very good but this restaurant is ridiculously overpriced. We paid over £180 for dinner for myself, my wife and our 3 year daughter. That is extortion! Our dinner the next night in town cost us £80, which is what we would expect. The view here is off course excellent but not worth the extra hundred quid!

Food was ok, quite expensive what what you got. The staff were very attentive and helpful but the ambiance was below the standard you would expect from a restaurant with those prices. No table clothe, very basic tables and quite cafe style. Great view.

We arrived on time (1645 - last sitting) to be told that we could only have our booked afternoon tea either outside or in the bar as they were preparing for dinner. Not wanting to enjoy a special treat in the bar, we opted for outside, although chilly, and were ‘plonked’ in the first table we came to. The whole terrace was empty bar one other table. We were rushed to order, that was no challenge as we knew we wanted the afternoon tea. It arrived in good time, our plates were just placed on the table under the coffees and teas and not set out as expected, the service was non existent. The food was of good quality and tasted nice and was presented well. Halfway through eating at about 5:20, a server approached, reached for the platters and asked if we had finished. We had barely made an indent and we responded no. That was the last we saw of anyone before we paid and left. Would not return based on this visit. Such a shame as this was a family treat for my 85 year old mom.

Diners beware! I booked The Haven Hotel afternoon tea for my daughters 13th Birthday through Open Table on the 15th of May 2022. When on the fjbhotels.co.uk website it showed one price of £14.50pp but when we arrived at our venue the price was in-fact £26.50pp I went to reception and showed the Manager the link from their website showing £14.50pp but he wasn't interested, blamed it on being a website Cashe issue. Once asked if, due to this not being our fault, would he honour the price he was very rude and abrupt with a quick "No". The food itself, for 3 people consisted of the equivalent of a couple of sandwiches, 4 small cakes (very small!) which you could barely cut into 3 pieces and 6 small scones. We asked for water twice which never appeared, we weren't asked how our meal was or I would have pointed out the lack of food, and left feeling that we'd received £5 worth of food for almost £90 as a service charge was added - what service? The only saving grace here were the views over the water, however, I has stated during our booking that we were put somewhere private, no-one read this, we ended up in the bar area. If it wasn't for the fact that I didn't want to spoil my daughters day, we would have left within the first 5 minutes. No wonder we were the only people having an afternoon tea there, I would have never had booked if I'd had known it was £26.50 with poor service and rude management.

Beware if you want to dine for over three hours as you will be charged a £100 fine. No help from reception as mama fed by an external company. Average food but made up for by the amazing view. We dined on Thursday lunchtime with only a handful of other diners.

Amazing setting and beautifully decorated. The service was untrained but charming and helpful. The food was a major let down. The day’s special had onion soup that was atrocious which I sent back, and later in the evening another diner also sent it back. The duck parfait was almost tasteless. The filet steak was better but at £37 each should have been, but even that was a little tougher than we are used to. Stunning location let down by poor food at at top prices.

Good was outstanding, best meal we've had there. No duds in our party across starters and mains. liver pate superb. As was John Dory. Service very uneven. Main order forgotten and we had a long long wait between courses. Servers clumsy, leaning across table. View is unrivaled.

Disappointed ☹️ Valentine’s Day, started out amazingly till they forgot about us and our mains. They wouldn’t own up to it waited 60mims for mains. 2 couples had there’s way before us and arrived after! Then got asked did we want coffees when we hadn’t been given dessert menu, then wasn’t given petit fours with coffee then was charged for more food then we had. Given we was hotel residents I wasn’t impressed. Food was fantastic shame service couldn’t be the same.

Lovely venue but obviously not enough staff to deal with just the few people present. Even though we had booked for 2 adults and 1 child Waited an hour for a couple of cold wraps and a child’s portion of pasta and had to ask 3 times for our drinks. Such a shame as a stunning view from the restaurant

We were having lunch with my 90 year old mother in law. We were first presented with the daily menu, which was a bit fancy for her and rather expensive. I had seen on the website that there was a light lunch menu and I was given that when I asked for it. This was much more suitable and my husband and mother in law enjoyed excellent fish and chips while I had an avocado wrap which was also excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive and we weren’t rushed. It was lovely to sit and watch the activity on the water outside.
