For a Tuesday lunch in August we found The Princess of Shoreditch busy and with a good vibe. The menu is classic gastro pub food and apart from one duff note (my mackerel starter lacked flavour) the food was good quality and enjoyable. Service is laidback and friendly and there are some interesting options on the wine list. Prices can climb quite quickly and we tried a New Zealand Sauvignon which was very enjoyable. For 2 courses, a couple of glasses of sparkling and the wine our bill came to £120 for2 incl service so for us not an every day meal. That said next time we will try the upstairs dining room as we would go again and enjoyed lunch.

Fantastic food, great service, nice atmosphere - and all very reasonably priced. The Princess of Shoreditch is a must if you like your food

We are a bunch of 5 gentlemen who are getting on a bit and who meet occasionally for a quality lunch, lots to drink and a good laugh. The Princess of Shoreditch was all of that. Good draught beer, big selection of wines, and excellent food. We were having fun and the waiter and waitress were very good with us. The place was busy with a really lively atmosphere and it made the lunch one to remember and to go back again for. The Angus Steak and chips were the business. Keep it up Princess !

We were given a table from 7pm until 9pm.
The waiters did not warned us before just telling us it was too late to order deserts.
So we just couldn't finish our dinner !
Very disappointing...

We love the late lunch we had there. The food was spectacular; truly high standard cuisine. The only disappointment for us was that the dining room itself was closed since it was a public holiday so it was in the pub section.
Wouls definitely return however and intend to, and will continue to recommend to visitors etc.

Good food but a few slip ups from the kitchen. They missed Yorkshire puddings off two of our lunches and one lunch was cold. These mistakes were rectified quickly and the serving staff were very apologetic. Would give them another go.

Situated on what was, on a Sunday early afternoon, a beautifully quiet Paul Street, you walk into the bright and airy Princess of Shoreditch to a warm and friendly greeting. A relatively small dining area downstairs, but nice for a relaxed get together on a Sunday. Staff pleasant and helpful. Menu is relatively limited on a Sunday, all about the roasts as it should be, so we all went for Mixed Grill, a feast of chicken, beef and pork belly. Coupled with 2 bottles of Malbec, a great Sunday lunch!

I had a great time at the Princess of Shoreditch. I went for a typical Sunday roast and I was not disappointed. The service was quick and the portions were generous. It is not michelin star food (of course) but it is cheap and cheerful, and exacvtly what I was after. I will definitely be returning.

The princess of shoreditch served my friends and me with a delicious Sunday lunch yesterday... I was looking for somewhere near the centre of town that wouldn't be too rammed on a Sunday, would be ok for me bringing our baby and of course that would serve delicious food - this place delivered on all counts and our waiter was exceptionally good too. It is pricey for a Sunday roast (c.£15) but the food is really really good so it's nothing to complain about at all! And the sticky toffee pudding...

Princess of Shoreditch is impossible for a cab to find - make sure you get them to turn directly onto Paul St from Great Eastern or risk getting stuck in the one way maze. Food was good apart from the chips which arrived good and half cooked. And they didn't take the cost off the menu. Service good, wine passable.

The Princess of Shoreditch (London) is a beautiful traditional English gastro pub. Great ambience downstairs in the bar area (although very loud and crowded), and a gorgeous dining room upstairs serving an interesting and tasty menu. The service was excellent too. Definitely would recommend for this area.

After climbing the spiral staircase you are enveloped in a warm and atmospheric pub dining experience of days gone by. Linen tablecloths - candle lit yet bright and airy. Venison Wellington was great thought the pastry was a bit on the soggy side - and my mate had the lamb which was perfectly cooked. Flavors of both dishes were amazing and portion size was more than ample. Great place for a dinner party or a romantic meal for two....Will be back.....

I went to The Princess of Shoreditch for sunday lunch. My partner and I both chose two roast options which were delicious - hearty classic English roasts with all the trimmings. We also had a starter which was delicious too. The service was good, and I particularly liked how the waitresses walked around topping up our water whenever it got low, rather than having to ask for a refill. I would defintely go back.

Princess of Shoreditch for party of 7. Tomato soup, venison salad & black pud starters delightful, but fishcakes described as smoked haddock were mixed with salmon. No menu info on this was NOT appreciated by one of our party, who hates salmon. Mains - generous, thick slabs of meat. Irish steak perfectly cooked by chef let the side down being rather flavourless. Veg delish esp the red cabbage, & lemon puds were lick the plate lush. Shame cheeseboard was such miser-poor value! Service friendly

The Princess of Shoreditch was recommended in a Time Out article called 'Top Ten Sunday Lunches in London'. Having subscribed to the mag in the past I have often found that their judgement to be sound, and predictably our whole experience was excellent! The staff coped admirably with our party of twelve diners, and the food was delicious. We especially like the mixed roast option and the cheese board that is charged per slice. The wine list is extensive and includes English champagne (lovely).

The food at the princess of shoreditch is excellent. The meat cooked to perfection, and accompanying flavours on the plate complimenting it perfectly. My main critiscism of the place, is that the plates are not warmed.....therefore, the food was luke warm when it arrived at the table. Apart from this the service was excellent, very attentive and friendly, but another small point, fell down slightly on the fact that the wine was not quite cold enough.

We were really impressed by the Princess of Shoreditch. The food was imaginative, extremely tasty and a good size. The service was splendid, and the selection of beers enjoyable! Would have liked more choice for dessert, but it didn't really matter as we were all pretty full anyway! A real find - we'll go back again!

The Princess of Shoreditch was a delightful bar and restaurant in a fun part of London. It was buzzing on a Friday night and the upstairs dining room cozy and romantic. Food service and wine were spot on- simple and excellent quality.

What a little gem! We had zero expectations of the Princess of Shoreditch and were very pleasantly surprised on Thursday night. The gastropub has drinks spilling out onto the street while the winding stairs lead to the cosy gastropub dining area. We ordered the sirlion steak and the lamb served with pancetta / figs as our mains and each meal was outstanding. We couldn't resist the dessert menu so we slowly devoured the creme brulee and the cholcolate fondant -absolutely decadent.

Third time we went there and although my dish was good, our friends were quite disappointed with the slow service and portion of the dishes. Might be because we were a larger group than usually (8 of us) and our reservation was quite late, 9.15 pm.
Will go back though.

We asked for a window table and this was waiting when we got there.Nice atmosphere and surroundings, Our waitress was very polite and attentive to our needs.
Starters were good, I had foie gras to start which was good and the lobster and crab rissotto which was quite bland. My husband had the venison as the main and he said it was delicious. Both had the hot chocolate fondant for dessert which was good.
Overall a pleasant experience, not a cheap evening but it was a joint anniversary meal.

Delightful & quiet restaurant above a busy pub, lovely decor and attentive service. We didn't feel rushed and the food was wonderful and the portions generous. Good varied wine list and they let us bring up a bottle of wine we had bought in the pub downstairs - they even offered to take it upstairs for us! Will definitely go back as we want to try their Sunday lunch.

We went for Sunday lunch to the Princess of Shoreditch to the dining room area, which for all intents and purposes was just an extension of the pub up a spiral staircase. Upstairs is a square room with high ceilings which accentuates every utterance. Service was attentive and the starters were delicious. The hare and potato cake particularly shone. The roasts were ample, including a whole chicken for two including tons of sides. Carving at the table was messy, and the chicken was a tad dry.

Enjoyable lunch at the Princess of Shoreditch. We sat outside in the sun so ordered from the bar menu. The sausage & mash and pie of the day (venison and chicken & duck in tarragon sauce respectively) were healthy portions and tasty. The poached egg atop the fishcake was undercooked & as my friend was competing in the London Triathlon the following day, she sent it back. They were apologetic and replaced it without fuss, waiving the service charge (quite right). Will happily return.
