Drinks in pleasant atmosphere
Great place, felt very covid safe, lovely drinks, wonderful service, great ambience
The service was friendly and attentive however the food was disappointing. I had the flat iron steak with a chimmichurri sauce - both were bland and flat. The steak was unevenly cooked, medium in some places but mostly medium rare (I asked for medium and didn’t send it back because the meat would be dried out if cooked further as it was served sliced). I expected more from the previous reviews.
Great service, wonderful atmosphere and lovely food
Terrible service, terrible menu choice- menu did not reflect what was a available & was taken away after ordering the first drink. There was nothing on the tables- not even napkins. I asked for a replacement straw twice. The lager was awful and flat. Was not impressed
Drinks only - good choice of wines and cocktails by the glass.
Had a lovely lunch. Nice backdrop, nice menu, kids menu was spot on, serving staff were very polite and helpful but service itself was a bit slow. Will be going back.
Just awful, 40 minutes to wait for a drink, didn't even bother ordering food given how poor the staff were.
Had an excellent meal in relaxing surroundings. Glad we'd booked because walk-ins were being turned away.
Lack of service, generally felt disappointed by the experience.
Ambience was limited due to their not being music on.
I appreciate the staff are (obviously) new, so little mistakes can be forgiven. However, we were left for long periods of time with no drinks, no food order, no water in our empty glasses...
Turned away for being 10 mins late despite trying to call multiple times and not phone not being picked up
Music to loud, service was good but to quick , to expensive
Food was fantastic, service was a little slow.
We ate in the restaurant area it was very quite for a Saturday night with not much atmosphere, none the less we enjoyed our time.
The onion tart was exquisite and the Scottish garden cocktail intense
Great atmosphere . Really friendly service from the gentleman at the front door right through out all staff.
The menu was great and food was amazing.
Staff were enthusiastic and helpful including my requests of non alcohol beverages . Cocktails included .
Would definitely recommend and I will revisit
Great food, great service, lovely place. Highly recommended and can't wait to go again.
The service was friendly and attentive. The food was great and the ambiance was nice and relaxed. I have already recommended to my friends and would to anyone else.
We went for a Birthday meal for my friend. The food was delicious and was happy with the vapour considering the quality of the food. My friend had the beef with mushrooms and I had a ribeye steak which was melt in the mouth. We both opted for the apple tart for pudding which was lovely and a good portion size as well. The only trouble we had was trying to get anyone to bring over the bill as I’m we ended up speaking to three different staff members to get it. I do appreciate that it was a Friday night and the bar was very busy.
A beautiful restaurant with a decent menu including a variety of interesting cocktails. Fairly quiet and friendly wait staff.
Nice environment but the flickering lights detracted a little. Service was attentive but the food was good not great. Small menu also
The location is quite easy to find and either renovation inside or outside is impressing. But there are not many choices in Main.
Love the restaurant!
Staff was nice and attentive
Food was so good especially in love with the bone marrow gravy sauce that comes with our steak, totally lush
This was our second visit here and the food is consistently excellent, . Lovely atmosphere and very pleasant staff . We will be back
Service was quite slow for just 3 tables seated at the time.
We were seated to our table by a rather unhappy server who was annoyed that they accepted a 21:30 reservation.
She failed to mention the majority of their main courses was unavailable before taking our drink order, which meant we had to stay despite the rest of the menu having had no appeal to us whatsoever.
The food was ok, the fries that came with the burger was almost raw but the scallops were delicious.
What spoilt the evening the most was after we had our mains, the server could not wait for us to leave and pretty much ushered us out the door by suggesting we don’t order dessert (‘I’m sure you’re too full for dessert, shall I bring the bill?’), which we gladly took as we did not wish to spend anymore time or money at this restaurant. There’s plenty of other restaurants with substance in Edinburgh, do not be fooled by their decor and ambiance!
The service was slow and disjointed. The starters arrived in 5 minutes waiting a further hour for the cold main courses. Sadly we had little time so returning the meals would have meant we went hungry.
The waitress seemed incapable of splitting £150 bill in two
With so many other restaurants to choose from sadly we will not be back
Can not fault!!!
We visited as it was our wedding anniversary and we also got married here.
We were very kindly greeted with a glass of complimentary prosecco and congratulations from staff which was a very lovely touch.
We were told it was the 1st day of the new menu and feedback welcomed so here goes.
My husband had the salmon starter which he said wasn't great as the greenery was too overpowering. I had the chicken and chorizo starter which was ok.
We then went for the chataubriand to share and we're extremely disappointed with this as it presented very similar to a Sunday roast.
For the money we spent it was not up to standard and we were disappointed with our choice to dine here.
Drinks were nice however my 1st choice was not available.
Attentive and friendly staff.
The food was absolutely amazing. We started off with the diver scallops (perfectly prepared) and goat cheese salad. For entrees we selected the Plaise and roasted cauliflower. Again fantasitically delicious and perfectly prepared. By far the best restaurant with the best service we experienced in Edinburgh.
Wonder service, great food and cool atmosphere.
There was no evidence when we arrived that I'd booked a table in spite of your online checking to ensure that I was attending. Slightly embarrassing as I was entertaining important guests
A lovely little find. This restaurant is part of the Principal hotel, but you would not think it. The food is fantastic, service is wonderful and they have some lovely cocktails as well as a vast array of other drinks. I would recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh. Value for money is fab too.
Great ambience and atmosphere, perfect for a night out :)
Booking taken, but restaurant effectively closed. Seated in bar, where music was too loud. Three tables occupied, yet service slow, slightly surly, and rather inexpert. Normally this is a very good place, so they must have been having an off night.
Very good, reliable, brasserie-style restaurant. Nice friendly service.
Great service and food was delicious
Our booking was for 7.45pm but our table was not available until 8.15pm. The people before would not leave (l was told they had been there for 3 hours). The manager should have been more firm.
The food was amazing and service was excellent.
