My favourite in London !! Wonderful food and always lovely service ... and I can’t echo enough how brilliant the Sunday Lunches are ... so much so I struggle to get in too often .
The snacks and starters are excellent. For the mains I would steer clear of the game - it is extremely difficult to cut into there is hardly any meat once you have managed to cut into it - which is why the meal comes with a side dishes presumably but these are full of cheese and salt and not to my liking. The service and ambience and choice of wines are very good though I must say
Excellent food and friendly, helpful staff. Would recommend the fish soup and mince on dripping toast. Look forward to our next visit
Wonderful staff, interesting menu. However as many poor dishes (both the potato dishes in particular were hugely disappointing) as good dishes (the game tea was delicious).
Chairs uncomfortable, tables for 2 very cramped
Really impressed, could not fault anything. Food was impeccable and service was attentive and friendly. Walked away very full and very satisfied, will definitely be making return.
A fabulous lunch. Right up there with the best places to eat in London right now
I have already recommended to friends - enjoyed the whole experience including visiting the wine bar next door for a pre dinner drink. Will go again
ANOTHER completely exceptional meal. Food was faultless: complicated in preparation but strangely simple, charming, knowledgeable service and an inviting room.
Completely delicious food. Service was impeccable. Very helpful and knowledgeable waitress. Thought the ambience could be improved if it felt a bit more comfortable. Wooden chairs are hard and the bare tables need a coat of varnish or a cloth and it was a bit chilly. But if you’re looking for absolutely knock out traditional food with an innovative twist this is a restaurant for you.
I went to celebrate my sins birthday the staff were fantastic and the food was amazing . The roast beef was exceptional .
Terrific and unique food. Brilliant steaks and game birds. Small but decent wine list. Great for carnivores. Do bring Lipitor for the confit potatoes and pork croquettes... but they are worth it!
Lunch set menu. Quality excellent. A surprising & most enjoyable experience.
I was staying in the neighborhood, on a short visit to London, and read previous reviews, and it lived up to its reputation. It had the atmosphere of its original working club, and contrary to many restuarants I experienced knowledgeable and fiendly service, something I especially appreciate when I dine alone.
I stayed on course with reviewed recommendations from the menu starting with the Game Tea - perfect broth with no bitterness on a cold damp night.
I concluded with the confit potatoes and a perfectly seasoned sirloin steak. The potatoes are as good as everyone says!
Good selection of wines from Old and New World regions - I though quality and prices by the glass were reasonable for this caliber of restuarant.
Looking forward to my return to explore more from the menu particularly seasonal game.
It’s great, really really really really really great.
This is the BEST Sunday lunch in London without a doubt. Beautiful food, unpretentious setting and service but incredible attentive and friendly.
Wonderful. Food is out of this world. I have the venison. Only negative: The chairs are a bit uncomfortable, as the backs are super straight. Glad I didn’t go with some of my heavier American family, as they probably would have been unable to fit into the booths. But it was a very cool experience and I’ll be back as soon as possible!
I thought the portion size of the flank steak a little meagre and the kale side was well, kale. the potatoes were delicious.
The wine was very good and very expensive.
Service was very friendly and attentive.
I'll be back, a great place to enjoy lunch.
I love this place. The food and wine are always excellent and the service charming. Will definitely be coming back!
As some people commented about the restaurant, it is a pricy restaurant. But I was satisfied with its high standard food, unique menu (games and Mangalitza), interior style and friendly staff.
One of my favourite places for Sunday Roast!!
Love that place. Great on a Sunday. Decent wines, affordable menu. Beautiful dining room.
My best dining experience of 2019. Incredible service and outstanding food - I will divorce my husband to be married to those confit potatoes for the rest of my life. Seriously, everything was delicious. I can’t recommend enough.
Incredible as always! Can’t wait to get the new cookbook after coming here twice and being so delighted
Those confit potatoes! *Chef's kiss*
Such a pleasure to have attentive staff who are personable without being intrusive nor standoffish and robotic.
Went with my parents and we felt so well looked after. Let us hold onto the wine list which doesn't always happen but is super useful.
Great food - fantastic menu. Great atmosphere.
Delicious and excellent in every way.
This place is so bloody great. Great food, but also incredible service. I’ve been twice for a special occasion and they’ve given me and the person I’m with a free glass of fizz each - such a nice touch. Definitely one of my favourite places to eat in London.
Best experience I had in a long time. Absolutely wonderful meal! Thank you
The food was absolutely incredible! Can’t wait to get their cookbook after eating there
The name says it all. Absolute quality. The food was outstanding and the service was great. Wine wasn't too pricey for a place like this and was equally good.
We both had game birds and while both were excellent, my wife had the Teal (which I tried a bit of) and it was so tasty I'll be having that next time I go.
Sublime as ever, the game tea remains a firm favourite.
Read an article on the restaurant happened to be in the area so booked a table and enjoyed a thoroughly enjoyable lunch
Roast pork almost raw. Sent back and on return smaller amount given with outextras which had ro be subsequently requested e.g. apple sause, mushrooms. Insulted when asked to vacate table after 2 hour lunch. We were hosting an American professor who we had not seen for a long time and wanted to introduce him to Englush food. Very disappointing and will not recommend.
Can't fault the food all very good. But patronising waiters spoilt the occasion. Being told I'd ordered the wrong wine to go with my meal, left a horrible taste in my mouth.
Very good food
Very very good! I will be going back again very soon.
The food and settings are great. The person serving us wasn't sure about some of the items on the menu but was able to ask. Other than that definitely worth a visit.
Great food. I had been to the shop before but never the restaurant. Well recommended for a slightly different eating experience, especially if you love meat.
Creative but simple Lunch menu focussed on great ingredients. Free corkage Mondays is a winner. ‘Traditional’ benches = uncomfortable seats but at least there are cushions. Will go back.
Best Sunday lunch in London by a mile !!! Gee you guys are rocking it !!!
