This restaurant closed 4 months ago.! We used the Open Table website to book a table and even received a confirmation the day before we arrived at the venue to find it totally shut was very angry and have since sent Open Table a complaint email will telephone any restaurants directly in future.
The restaurant was shut. I took clients for my 730pm booked meal and the restaurant was closing at 6pm during January.
I will not be using this booking agent again. I will book direct, if that isn't possible I will take my business and my clients elsewhere as I did on Tuesday
Overall it was a good experience, I always love coming to bejing banquet good food and a lot of laughs and friendly staff
The food and service were excellent. Meals were reasonably priced and servings sizes were good. Would definitely go back.
Good choice on menu although specialise in currys. Wine prices good also.
Varied menu. Lovely food served by friendly yet professional staff. This visit was with a couple of friends for lunch. This year we have attended a family wedding and a family birthday party both with over 30 guests, efficiently dealt with by the staff.
There was no flexibility on the menu. Although the food and was good. It took too long to arrive though. Asked for chicken as a jalfrezi instead Korma and was told chef wanted a £1 more so we didn't tip as that of was pathetic over the sake of a one pound! The decor is nice but the place was over run by screaming babies and I mean screaming with no effort by parents to distract them. Not in the least relaxing. The waiter was lovely.
Visited first time last week for a family get together. Excellent value and great choice at the buffet service to please all tastes. May not be cordon bleu but the food was very tasty. The servicevwas very good and staff were very welcoming and attentive? I would highly recommend the place and will be back soon.
Four of us came here for lunch on Sunday. There was a good selection of dishes from different parts of the world, a large Indian selection, a Chinese / Asian selection, lots of different pizzas, sunday roast, children's selection, some traditional British dishes, a mexican selection and lots of different salads and desserts,
The food was not the usual bland dishes that are usually served in a buffet style restaurant. It was freshly cooked and well seasoned, the curries had plenty of taste and not just made out of a jar or a packet
The only complaint i would make is that there were not many seafood or fish dishes. I do not eat meat or poultry, only fish and seafood so there was limited choice for me in that respect. There was one chinese dish with mussels and another with poached salmon but that was all. I filled up on vegetarian choices and there were plenty of those but it would have been nice to have a little more choice
The buffet meal and a refillable soft drink came to approx £14 each. I would definitely return to eat here again
Has quite a variety of dishes although the asian selection was probably the best. The service was very good and they were very attentive. It is a nice atmosphere and comfortable. Not gourmet but good value.
This is my 2nd time going to the quay and i dont think ill be back. Food was dry and looked like it had been sitting for ages, staff were very very slow. Poor experience dont think ill be back after that visit
Lovely food, something to suit all tastes, great service, was a bit disappointed in the dessert options but overall great value for money
First time visit to The Quay and it will not be the last - there are many variety of foods to suit everyone's choice. Very good value for money, child friendly. I have passed my recommendations on to friends and work colleagues.
We have eaten here a few times now and absolutely love it. There is a huge variety of dishes, catering for all tastes and there's even a kids selection. The service is good and the price is very reasonable, we will be back very soon.
Booked for 8pm but they were already running the buffet down. Food was lukewarm and not being filled up. Restaurant empty by 10pm and we had to look for staff to take our payment then they helped themselves to a tip by not returning our change - which we didn't realise until after we had left. Ended up with a dreadfully upset stomach that night and the following day. I definitely will not be back there again.
Quick service, order you drinks then off to the buffet, lots of choice, no complaints from a real fussy elderly lady in our party....
Food looked like it had been hanging around for a while
All the dishes were far far too salty particularly the Indian and Chinese dishes
The service was good but food not great
I loved the meal and would love to eat here again cant wait to bring my family again and agin
A thought a would treat my girlfriend to tea and thought this place would be good! We didn't like it at all! The food was not good at all the kitchen area you go for the buffet was really dirty and messy! The main dining area was clean and tidy but buffet area lit it down a long with the food! It is cheap but a wouldn't recommen this place! If the food gets better and buffet area gets cleaned then a Mabey be back!
We have been to the quay on many occasions as well as getting married there. food really good with lots of choice and staff very friendly.
I love ur food esp Indian stuffs n service very much .i often recommend ur restaurant to most of my friends n we had 6-7birthday dinners at ur place.ur restaurant is the only one which provides a good blend of starters main course n desserts.i never regret for spending money at your place n ur food makes me 100%satisfied.
Really good food for money. Buffet has a lot of choice
There was a good selection of food. However the food isn't very warm. The server also managed to splash me with lamb fat as he dropped the roast back into the roasting tray...Wasn't a good look for the rest of my evening! There were 17 of us and we all said the same. There is also no fresh cream for the desserts and they had run out of clean spoons, so a few of us were eating ice cream with forks. Shame really as the restaurant looks quite nice.
Was not happy with this place at all food wasnt that good half the stuff the advertise they didnt have ie burgers seafood. Not much of a dessert selection and the kids food was poor.not a big selection for a vegatrian either
My family like The Quay because of the range of food available. The service is really good and the food is tasty. It's informal but spotlessly clean and well organised.
Took my son, girlfriend, husband granddaughter out for a meal. Some of the food was dry and had been there for ages. The food tasted fine but nothing special and not hot enough. The staff were friendly and helpful and the restuarant was clean and tidy. Great for kids. Somehow lacked any ambience or atmosphere. Wouldn't rush back of an evening but would pop in for lunch or an odd occassion.
Good price, very good food, free parking, spacious and staff very helpful
Always an outstanding selection of great food. Staff friendly and welcoming and always pleased to serve. Great place to dine whether with the family or for a romantic meal.
Modern decor. Freshly cooked food. Plenty of choice for lunchtime. Staff attentive. Food itself nothing fancy but tasty and lots of styles of cuisine. Great price.
We had heard that it was a good place to eat. We were sadly disappointed the food selection seemed minimal, and was not worth the £13.99 each that we paid!
Very dissapointed with world banquet at the quay. Very confusing latout. The only thing we actually enjoyed was the steak pie. There was roast lamb on offer at carvery section but noone to serve it and no utensils provided. Poor choice of food concidering the vast menu. Looked from the website like there would be a better choice. Some dishes were not labled so didnt have a clue what they were. One or two dishes were labled incorrectly. The chicken dishes were dry. For the chinese section there was no sauces barr chilli oil and soy sauce. Alot of the food had been sitting for a long time meaning it was going a bit stale. Drove from fife for my 30th specially for it and dont think we will be back again im sorry to say.
Took my mum out for dinner. This was her first time at a self service resturaunt and she and I had a good meal. The food was good and she liked the fact that there was so much choice and she could have small portions of a few different things and you could take time between courses. We will be back.
Visited the Quay in Musselburgh for the first time on April 6th as a late Mother's Day/double Birthday treat & it certainly was a treat. The restaurant is spacious with a good atmosphere & modern decoration & style & the food is very good indeed. Billed as a "World Buffet" the smorgasbord of tantalising dishes is a delight to behold & even better to taste, with the meats being very tender. A very good price makes this great value for money too. The only negative comments would be that the choices of European/North American fare is not as varied as the Chinese & Indian selections & some of the options could be kept hotter, those with lids were fine but it must be difficult to get the right heat from the lamps to prevent the food drying out.
I booked a table well in advance for my birthday night and I was glad I did because the restaurant was very busy and noisy. However thankfully the staff recognised that our party could not comfortably fit into the first table we were shown to which was a booth style table with one person sitting in the walkway and offered to move us to a table in a quiter part of the restaurant. This table was, in my opinion, the best in the restaurant because the loud music had become enjoyable background music and we were well away from the rumpus. My family really enjoyed the variety of food on the buffet as there was something for everyone and it was freshly put out and tasted good.
Went for mothers day me mum and my daughter who is 4, Food was nice and great variety to choose from my daughter loved the ice cream as you can top up with yummy treats, vegetables that were offered were a bit hard though and not very hot but apart from that good value ! Only wish I had more time to try other dishes : (
Have been twice in the past few weeks, first time was with some family members but it was so good we took our daughter and her boyfriend there for something to eat too. Very good selection of dishes and all the ones I got round were very tasty.
Great variety of dishes and the food was hot. Unlike a lot of buffet places. Waiters were very efficient at clearing away empty plates. Reasonably priced.
We went for lunch and there was nowhere near as much choice as advertised on the website. The kids food was dried out and had clearly been sitting for a long time. The onion rings were solid! The adults food was ok, not much choice at all but the food wasn't bad. A few dishes needed replenished, the chicken curry had no chicken as people had obviously taken it all but it hasn't been restocked. Desserts are really just mini brownies etc. the icrecream bar is a good touch for kids. I wouldn't go back though. There are plenty of other buffets offering a lot more for a similar price
We went on a Tuesday night, expecting a good meal but we food the food either very dry or tasteless. We were very disappointed. There is a lot of choice but the food was in my opinion very poor. I thought it was possibly because it was a Tuesday night but it was quite busy for mid week so I feel they should really put effort into the cooking.
My kids loved it, I have been a few times and was great but we went before 5pm on Saturday and there wasn't much choice and what was there was rather cold. It could be because we went between lunch rush and evening rush. But either way it put us off going back, which is a shame as the first few times we went were really good.
