A lovely pub with a welcoming ambience. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We started with the mac and cheese which was fantastic. I was only going to have a few bites to save room for dinner, but that ended up being impossible. It was delicious! We ordered the Sunday Roast for two and they were able to serve half of it medium rare and half medium well, which was appreciated and unexpected. The some of the sides were were a hit and perfectly cooked. The cheesy cauliflower was a favorite, as it wasn't overcooked and mushy. The carrots, also perfect. I thought the potatoes were a bit over cooked, as they were hard to cut. And our Yorkshire pudding was burnt - visually and taste-wise. This was a disappointment. The roast itself was good, but a little over seasoned. I couldn't really taste the beef. However, my companion liked the seasoning. There was some gristle in the meat, but for the price, that isn't completely unexpected. I would have liked the gravy to be a bit richer, but it was good. The trio of desserts was incredible. We particularly liked the cheesecake, but the lemon tart and passion fruit sorbet were also delicious! I would return, as there menu had some interesting items that I would like to try and the staff were just so wonderful!

Just the most beautiful pub, really quiet and beautifully decorated. Very traditional. The food was exceptional, service helpful and friendly. And when I couldn't have one of the sharing puddings because of an allergy, they made me up a version that didn't contain the allergen so I wouldn't miss out. Best food we ate all weekend! Note: you MUST book - they turned away walking as they are so popular

Wonderful place and lovely staff. The food was great, quick service. The pie was amazing and a special to the ginger and date sticky toffee pudding .

Visiting Edinburgh with my husband and we wanted to try a Sunday roast. While the roast itself was decent, I would say what makes this place awesome great visit was the staff and the fun atmosphere. On Sunday nights they play trivia with those willing to participate and the whole place has a fun buzz. Happy we tried this place!
