The Queens Arms - Edinburgh
Under 18's are not admitted after 8:00pm.
We had a meal for two in the Queens arms and booked a booth, service was v good and attentive, lively place with a good atmosphere
Excellent service and great quality food. We had the Sunday dinner and pudding to share. Both were extremely yummy- we will be back.
Perfect for post Christmas drinks. Good wine & nice atmosphere.
We had booked to have a Christmas Roast on Christmas Eve. When we arrived, it turned out that they were not serving the roast anymore. We were shoved onto a small stool table that had no space for plates and drinks, next to the toilets (that stank). When we asked to be moved, they put us onto a small table near a group of men drinking heavily. The food was OK, (although my main dish was burnt and gave me the runs later). The drinks were OK and the staff were pleasant. We will not go back there and I wouldn't recommend the place for anything more than a drink. Very disappointing.
Sunday roast was outstanding!!! Staff very attentive, at times even too attentive - the same questions asked by at least two staff members within a minute. Great music but very loud, it was turned down after we mentioned it. Would go back and request quiet table in the corner.
Excellent as always. Great service and food. Never disappointed
Chose this for midweek lunch based on previous reviews and it didn't disappoint!
We pre-booked a table which I would recommend. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Good menu choice and we loved our sharing platter. Only downside for me is the stairs, not a great place to visit with mobility problems.
We missed out on a meal here on our last visit to Edinburgh so made sure to book for Sunday lunch weeks in advance this year. What a feast! The Sunday roast comes on a platter for two with giant Yorkshire puddings and seasonal veg. It was the most succulent beef cooked to perfection. Dessert was two sharing puddings. A lemon posset with berries and a banana cake with ice cream that was similar to a sticky toffee pudding. Delicious! The food that came out from the main menu also looked lovely. We had a booth to ourselves and never felt rushed. Would highly recommend and suggest you book as soon as you know you’re going to Edinburgh to avoid disappointment! It is a very lively pub so don’t go for a quiet lunch/dinner!
Great service and very welcoming. Food was fabulous. We will definitely be going back.
So glad we booked, great atmosphere. Service given the time of year was good and friendly. Food tasty!
Food and service very good. The eating area is looking a bit tired and dated and needs some investment in the seats, tables etc whilst keeping the look and ambience of the original pub. The food remains good though.
Yum yum yum! Cosy fabulous pub. Sharing pie was very tasty and good value. Would highly recomend this. Also had sunday roast before which is delish!
Table was still occupied when we arrived which isn’t a big deal but disappointing when there are no available seats.
Once seated our waiter advised they don’t serve Sunday Roast after 5pm. There is no mention of this on menu or website.
One menu had a page missing which was confusing!
Wife and I ordered burgers which are served cooked medium rare (menu should really highlight they’re pink in the middle).
Seemed like I was wearing my invisibility cloak as no member of staff seemed to bother with us and no-one enquired re our meal until we requested the bill.
Think it was possibly just a symptom of Edinburgh being really busy pre-Christmas. That said, it’s unlikely that we will be back any time soon I’m afraid which is a shame. Been to the Queens Arms before and it was fine.
Fantastic food and great service. Excellent value for money and coffee was lovely to finish the meal
Still one of my favourite pubs in Edinburgh, and the best Sunday roast ever!
W=Excellent , big tables , cosy , great staff - food was excellent - loved it - went for lunch and didn;t want to leave
Great pub, good atmosphere, food, beers and drinks and pleasant staff.
My wife and I enjoyed the relaxing and nice Sunday's Quizz night atmosphere. We booked in advance, were on time, and didn't had the time to finish our Gin Tonics before being called to our table.
Food was delicious, and the waitress was attentioned and lightning fast in fulfilling our requests.
A place I will recommend and try to head to next time I will be flying over the Channel to EDI.
The vegetarian selection is not the best, however the roast looked great and it is good value for money. I had the butternut squash and mushroom casserole with cheese dumplings - no vegan option available. You could tell that it wasn’t freshly prepared but probably taken out of the freezer with bistro gravy all over it. The service was extremely slow, we were there around 3 pm I appreciate that it’s Sunday roast time but I would’ve appreciated an apology and undivided attention when it did come to serving us. The pub is beautiful of course and would probably be back only for drinks.
Food was ok
But tables were to small for amount of plates
There was 3 of us on a 4 place table and we struggled for space
Had there been 4 people it would have been impossible to get plates and veg on table
The roast on the we went was Chicken. It was ok, the vegetables could have been a little fancier and the chicken was average. The dessert was exceptional. The main reason for the lower score it the time it took for it to be served, close to 60 minutes from order to vegetables arriving with the chicken another 5 minutes after. Would go back as the serving staff were friendly just maybe understaffed for a busy Sunday.
We came for sunday lunch paid £35 do not get a choice of meat and not value for money.we actually turned the beef over and lots of blood showing not how we like meat and not asked how we wanted it.the veg what you got was not good either roasties were hard.we actually didnt touch the mesl paid for it with 2drinks and left.
The roast was delicious, though probably could have been hotter. Roast, dessert and coffee for just under £18 was decent. Service wasn’t great; empty glasses and plates took an age to be removed, cutlery was forgotten twice, incomplete drinks rounds...the staff seemed friendly enough, just a bit overwhelmed.
The tables are quite small so the food should be brought on smaller plates. May look fancy in photos but it’s not practical for real life.
The booking was not fulfilled at the Queens Arms. I was phoned 10min before booking time to be told that my booking had just been received via your system and there was no table available! The restaurant was very accommodating and got us a table at another restaurant about a mile away.
This worked out eventually but is not really acceptable!
Had a fab Sunday lunch here very tasty and great value for money
Outstanding as always.
Great atmosphere with friendly helpful staff. Food was delicious and there was a great choices. The noise level was great for chatting.
Great place to meet friends and food is lovely. Could be a bit quicker with drinks.
I particularly loved the Sunday Roast, the Yorkshire pudding is the best that I had in UK
I prefer the meat though a bit tender.
Overall, I highly recommend this place. Ambiance, staff, food are awesome!
Pleasantly surprised when we went inside as didn’t look that inviting from the outside. Service was outstanding from the waitress, nothing was too much trouble and was very quick. Would definitely go again if we are in Edinburgh.
Lovely relaxed pub in the heart of Edinburgh - highly recommended
Great food and great service! Sunday roast is the best!
Strange place ! Although booked not sure they were organised for us!! Service terrible and because of this only had one drink(would have had more if we were served)
Food was ok when finally arrived but wait for 2nd course was long!!
Lovely meal, brilliant service, great wine. Would definitely go back!
Love this place, great food and ambience! Worried about open table booking but no need, everything was fantastic!
We had a great time at The Queens Arms- lively but our waitress found us a table away slightly so we could enjoy our meal and talk too. A great find and we will be back next time we are in Edinburgh. We are regular visitors to Edinburgh and this is one of the most atmospheric places we’ve been to.
Lovely atmosphere, delicious food (have the beef pie), speedy service and great staff - couldn't do enough for you!
I have been to Queens Arms many times. However when I arrived for our reservation on Sat night at 7pm I was informed that our booking had been for the previous night. ( Friday 12th). I didn't have my confirmation of booking with me, however the venue was adamant that I was a day late.
I had family over from Australia and I was very embarrassed to say the least. After asking them what they could do they eventually suggested that we waited and they would try to sort a table out, which they did approx. 30 minutes later. After that everything was good.
However - I don't see the point of making a booking if it doesn't get honoured in full on the correct date & time. Very disappointing
Really enjoyed our lunch, husband and I don’t come to Edinburgh often so it was a wee change and a wee treat
Visited from the States in April 2017. Back in Edinburgh for Hogmanay and knew we had to return. Love the ambiance. Food is delicious including some amazing fish and chips and a delicious shared steak and ale pie. Great list of whisky. Make a reservation!
