The Queens Head Fyfield
Welcome to The Queen"s Head Fyfield, a traditional family run 16th century freehouse country pub, beautifully located on the banks of the River Roding. The Queen's Head uniquely feels like a pub where locals are comfortable nursing a pint of real ale, but is also renowned for good quality seasonal food in contemporary, comfortable surroundings, with friendly service and a warm ambiance. You can choose to eat at big wooden tables in the pub or, if you prefer, in the smart upstairs dining area. Ingredients are locally sourced and everything is made on site. We stock a good selection of real ales and lagers and have an extensive wine list.

Organised safely in Covid times. Warm and welcoming atmosphere. Friendly attentive staff. Raw ingredients excellent although some of the sauces were a little heavy handed for my taste. Wine was very good and the recommended champagne.
Excellent venue with top quality food and service. A joy to be there.
We had a lovely meal last Sunday food was excellent as to what we expect from previous visits .we were shown to our table upstairs were we have never eaten before I have read a few reviews about not as good service in that area so was a bit concerned, as soon as we sat down one of the two other tables that was occupied complained about one of their meals was stone cold and had been waiting an hour already. Not a great start to our night out .
Our food came up a little bit longer than normal which was fantastic monkfish scampi starter followed by Goan chicken curry very hot but delightful wife ordered skate which was changed to sea bream as the chef was not happy with the look of the skate once again a excellent meal .
The other table had a complaint with their meal issue with a vegetarian or vegan complaint. All in all we throughly enjoyed our meal though a little bit spoilt by other customers. In future we will ask for a table in the bar area. We would like to thank the staff on that night as well as the chef for great attentive service in such usually times look forward to seeing soon. As usual the food, and service were excellent! Was our first choice to go to once we were out of lockdown.
Excellent food and great service
Oh dear. Having given a very good review last week when I went with my son, I returned with the family for a mid week lunch. We waited over an hour for our food, and two of the dishes was so salty we could hardly eat them. Chef a smoker? Awful service since a single waitress and music louder than last time. Very disappointing given first positive experience, so won’t be going back even though it’s local.
Lovely pub. V cosy on wintery day. Good was very tasty. Only downside was that all of us really lacked vegetables even after ordering an extra side.
A lovely, historic local village pub, with genuinely good food, and beautifully renovated recently during the opportunities afforded by lockdown.
Totally fulfilled our expectation except slightly more expensive.
Cracking little pub/resturant. Lovely food and smashing staff.
Just slightly more expensive that we had hoped for a Sunday roast. We would still visit again
Lovely building and atmosphere, delicious fresh food and well priced. Will be visiting again
Once again, a most pleasant experience which is not easy in the current Covid ridden environment.
very nice old style pub with good menu choices. was a little noiser than might have been due to the family get together/chides party in the same area as us. Didn't really effect us
Great food great service needs more vegetarian options
Popped in for a first visit - quick lunch. Rarebit - delicious and enjoyable. Monkfish "scampi" was delicious while a pollock hotdog with pickled jalapeno read deliciously - as pollock is a good fish for this type of food. However, fish was overcooked and batter hard as a result... tasty just a bit over done.
The only Rosé by the glass was a good crisp Provencale wine, but 125ml for £7.50 was a bit rich. Sadly the two pints of Adnam's Ghost Ship were odd. The first pint was possibly the first out of the pump - and not good, but they swiftly swapped it out for a fresh one. Which was great.
But the follow up pint has the same issues as the first - yet it was from the same barrell. Not enough to prevent us from coming back to try the full menu in an evening meal. Lovely interior, cracking staff and the specials would have been perfect, had I noticed them. A gentle nudge in that blackboard's dorection would have been good. But I missed it so my bad.
Excellent service
Food was absolutely amazing, nice selection and when it come out, decent size and portions. Only negative was once dinner had been served, we had no service at the table and with signs saying do not order at the bar, we had no other option to
Perfect. They looked after us. Four adults, two kids, perfect food and service. Thank you so much.
Quality ingredients that deliver so much flavour. Those truffle fries get me every time I visit
Always great quality food and lovely service
Pub grub does not get any better than this. This is fine dining in a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Staff and service great -food divine.
Wonderful evening as always .
Highly recommend :-)
Fantastic from start to finish. Food was exceptional!
Love this for a very special occasion or lunch with a friend.
This is our local which I love and we had a great time with friends who had travelled a fair way to join us from South London.
They were very flexible on moving our table time on what was a busy Sunday service, but general table service was a bit slower than usual, which was a shame. Nevertheless, I will be returning and already have a table booked Wednesday evening with my girl friends!
We have been to the Queens Head on many occasions and the food is consistently excellent, and this time did not disappoint. the only reason i am not scoring higher this time is that the service was not as good as it usually is.
What a gem. Lovely staff, great ambience and yummy food. Wish I discovered it a long time ago.
Good atmosphere and great food. Will be returning.
Excellent venue with great food, service and choice of drinks
Staff are excellent.
The service & the food were both impeccable & lovely atmosphere too
Had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Queens head, very cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. Looking forward to returning. Many thanks
All good and food was lovely. Will definitely return.
Consistently great food, served well. Service is spot on despite being a very busy pub. Have been eating and drinking in this pub for years and have never been let down. Would highly recommend.
We do enjoy The Queens Head.
Due to the close nature of the restaurant - it was extremely warm - which did make it ever so slightly uncomfortable. We also struggled to get out of our table passed other tables, as they are so tightly packed.
Lunch was lovely - Great menu, and very tasty.
Only 2 negatives - the Mussels on the menu, there were a few closed ones in the portion, which should not have been served - the dish was lovely, but that made it a bit picky to eat with having to check them.
The Yorkshire puddings were a little dry / crispy - needed a lot more gravy to make them moist.
We would visit and again and would still recommend - I believe in constructive comments
Staff were lovely (as we were sat upstairs - maybe a little more attentiveness could be given - we didn't get to order another round of drinks for our main course as no one came up to see us)
Lovely place but would have been nice to have some background music.
The Ambience was great, you could not fault the service and the food was amazing- there was 6 of us and we all ordered different starters and mains and not one person was disappointed- excellent food - 5 ⭐️
Amazing food as always 😊👍👏
Excellent menu. Quality food. Great service. Nice ambience if a little on the noisy side.
Have visited several times and have never been disappointed as usual staff were friendly and food was very good.
Delicious as always
