Welcome to The Queen"s Head Fyfield, a traditional family run 16th century freehouse country pub, beautifully located on the banks of the River Roding. The Queen's Head uniquely feels like a pub where locals are comfortable nursing a pint of real ale, but is also renowned for good quality seasonal food in contemporary, comfortable surroundings, with friendly service and a warm ambiance. You can choose to eat at big wooden tables in the pub or, if you prefer, in the smart upstairs dining area. Ingredients are locally sourced and everything is made on site. We stock a good selection of real ales and lagers and have an extensive wine list.

Lovely Sunday Lunch. Hearty portions and tasty sticky toffee pudding. The lovely lady at the bar was very patient when my American friends went “off piste” with their drinks orders. She did a great job.

There were a couple of hiccups with our order but they were handled very well. Our main issue is one we have with a lot of restaurants and that is the service charge. This should not be automatically applied to the bill and be left to us to decide if we feel the level of service wanted a tip. Saying that we do not want to pay it or not pay the amount suggested is embarrasing for all concerned. We chose a modestly priced bottle of wine (relatively speaking) but had we had chosen an expensive wine we would have been penalised by the adding of a sevice charge to it. The waiting staff find it no harder to open and pour a dearer bottle than a cheaper one. As it happened the sevice was excellent on the night and we would have given a similar amount to the service charge as a tip anyway, but it should neither be automatically added to the bill nor expected as a right. So yes we would recommend the Queens Head but with a caveat that they have a bad policy in terms of the service charge.

The food was very good with good service and friendly staff. The dining area was fine but the entrance from the carpark could do with updating. We were there on a quiet evening amitly but bar staff cleaning up the bar when you are half way through your expensive meal is a little off putting. It's restaurant prices and food quality, possibly let down a little by the pub atmosphere. More pub with very nice food than restaurant basically.

Very pleasant atmosphere both inside and in the garden although the garden furniture is very tired.
Well balanced and enticing Sunday Lunch menu with lots of choice.
The food was well presented and very good. The roast beef was very tender.
Good wine list with plenty of choice.
£95 for Sunday Lunch for 3 (bread and main course only and drinks).

The best Sunday lunch we've had in ages! My mum loved the liver. I would request a downstairs table next time as I felt the ambience was more lively downstairs. The roasts are more pricey than elsewhere but we felt it was worth it. This is a restaurant, not a pub so you expect to pay more. Will def be back soon!

Absolutely outstanding! Loved the atmosphere when we walked in, low ceilings, bar was cosy and welcoming. All staff smiling and helpful. Rachel, the landlady was so friendly, very accommodating, happy to answer questions and clearly loves what she does. The food was amazing. Very rare to find a chef who can actually cook steak medium rare perfectly! Delicious! Thank you for a superb evening!

Overall very pleasing lunch. Although busy staff did well and tried hard to be efficient. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Food was very nice except two small details. The baked potatoes were a little dry and thick skinned and the latte coffee wasn’t hot enough. That said it’s a lovely pub with very nice staff and a welcome feel. Almost perfect !

Most of my party enjoyed the food although one chose lamb and it was very fatty. Some of The vegetables were hard and this too one of my psrty did not like. The price for a Sunday roast is quite high so would not make it a place for a regular visit but more for a special occasion. Staff were very courteous and helpful.

Great Food in comfortable surroundings. Staff were attentive. Had Sunday lunch which whilst excellent, perhaps a touch over priced. That is my only criticism and certainly won't detract us from returning to try the a la carte menu. Had a thoroughly enjoyable experience

This was our first visit by recommendation and we were not disappointed. The service was exemplary and we were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Food always tastes better when the service is good and both the waiter and waitress were attentive. On saying that the food was good, well presented and served hot on hot plates.

We will definitely return.

I booked a table for 4 on Thursday evening, the table was good position, the waitress was excellent, friendly and helpful without being overbearing.
Our meals were of high quality, the menu was well balanced and as you would we had to wait for the food to be freshly cooked, why people complain about waiting I will never understand.
The only thing I could fault was the standard/condition of the washroom.
In conclusion a first rate way to spend a Thursday evening,

As usual the food was very good at the Queens Head and we were very happy with the quality, but unfortunately on this occasion the service let them down. On arrival we were shown to our table upstairs, we were then left there for 20 minutes before we called a waitress over from another table to order drinks. The waitress struggled to smile and made us feel like we were interrupting her day. She’s then had to send someone else to take our food order. We ordered bread for the table, which they completely forgot about and we had to chase them up, and when it arrived it was incredibly dry, as though it had been left out for a while (only food complaint)
Our plates were left with us empty for quite a while, and then after requesting the desert menu and waiting a further 20 minutes for it to arrive we decided to just get the bill instead. Overall we felt we were forgotten about and service was slow when they did notice us.
Unfortunate as we’ve always previously been happy with our experience here. Hoping this was just a bad day!
