Food and service was excellent the staff were very attentive and nothing was to much trouble. Highly recommend
We went here for the first time with friends who are locals. I had to phone to let them know about my allergy. Chrissy bent over backwards to help me & ensure that I was taken care of on the night. As soon as we walked in, my allergy was mentioned & I was told it was all in hand. The staff are friendly & professional. Our meal was delicious & beautifully presented. We will definitely go again.
This is a nice pub and obviously very popular. The menu was quite upmarket for this type of country pub and it was noticeable that there were not many diners on the Friday evening. I believe the meals were overpriced with starters being particularly expensive. We eat out regularly and whilst the menu was a little different from the norm, the prices did not warrant to be at this level.
We were seated upstairs there was no atmosphere in this part of the pub, if we went again i would request to be seated down stairs.
Lovely Sunday Lunch. Hearty portions and tasty sticky toffee pudding. The lovely lady at the bar was very patient when my American friends went “off piste” with their drinks orders. She did a great job.
There were a couple of hiccups with our order but they were handled very well. Our main issue is one we have with a lot of restaurants and that is the service charge. This should not be automatically applied to the bill and be left to us to decide if we feel the level of service wanted a tip. Saying that we do not want to pay it or not pay the amount suggested is embarrasing for all concerned. We chose a modestly priced bottle of wine (relatively speaking) but had we had chosen an expensive wine we would have been penalised by the adding of a sevice charge to it. The waiting staff find it no harder to open and pour a dearer bottle than a cheaper one. As it happened the sevice was excellent on the night and we would have given a similar amount to the service charge as a tip anyway, but it should neither be automatically added to the bill nor expected as a right. So yes we would recommend the Queens Head but with a caveat that they have a bad policy in terms of the service charge.
Better to go later in the week. Tuesday not so good
Real food cooked by real chefs
Seasonal, local food
Food and service were outstanding. Highly recommend.
The food was very good with good service and friendly staff. The dining area was fine but the entrance from the carpark could do with updating. We were there on a quiet evening amitly but bar staff cleaning up the bar when you are half way through your expensive meal is a little off putting. It's restaurant prices and food quality, possibly let down a little by the pub atmosphere. More pub with very nice food than restaurant basically.
Excellent, as always. Friendly, helpful staff and very welcoming and accommodating for children. Sunday roast is excellent! Would highly recommend.
We have been to the Queens Head a few times and always enjoy the quality of the food and service
As always the food was beautiful! The staff are always so helpful and polite. Would defiantly recommend eating here :)
Very pleasant atmosphere both inside and in the garden although the garden furniture is very tired.
Well balanced and enticing Sunday Lunch menu with lots of choice.
The food was well presented and very good. The roast beef was very tender.
Good wine list with plenty of choice.
£95 for Sunday Lunch for 3 (bread and main course only and drinks).
Food is amazing and cannot fault it. Especially recommend the scotch egg and sticky toffe pudding. All ingredients is in season and everything was delicious.
Service was great and staff friendly
We have eaten many times at the queen head before
But on Sunday not very good and it was very noisy with screaming children
The service was not great but food lovely.
The whole evening was very enjoyable, food, service, staff. we shall be back.
A warm welcome and attentive service. Lunch was delicious, as always, and I look forward to my next visit.
The best Sunday lunch we've had in ages! My mum loved the liver. I would request a downstairs table next time as I felt the ambience was more lively downstairs. The roasts are more pricey than elsewhere but we felt it was worth it. This is a restaurant, not a pub so you expect to pay more. Will def be back soon!
Went for Sunday lunch with parents and was seated next to the open fire the food lovely could not fault anything. Would definitely go back again
There were 8 of us upstairs for a family get together enjoying delicious Sunday lunch .
Everyone enjoyed the food and the atmosphere .
Lovely food just a little slow on the service and asking for drink
The very best pub sandwiches ever BLT amazing the best steak sarnie too lovely staff great service fab food a must
But you must book too
Brilliant Sunday lunch at the Queens Head. Friendly staff, good guest ales, nice selection of wines and the food really was exceptional. We will definitely be back.
Absolutely outstanding! Loved the atmosphere when we walked in, low ceilings, bar was cosy and welcoming. All staff smiling and helpful. Rachel, the landlady was so friendly, very accommodating, happy to answer questions and clearly loves what she does. The food was amazing. Very rare to find a chef who can actually cook steak medium rare perfectly! Delicious! Thank you for a superb evening!
Overall very pleasing lunch. Although busy staff did well and tried hard to be efficient. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Food was very nice except two small details. The baked potatoes were a little dry and thick skinned and the latte coffee wasn’t hot enough. That said it’s a lovely pub with very nice staff and a welcome feel. Almost perfect !
Been a few times before and will definitely go back again and again. Excellent quality pub grub!
The food was amazing, and the staff were friendly but the service was slow.
Food is positively ‘yummy’
Definitely worth a visit for good quality produce, wonderful presentation! Staff are lovely as well.
Will go back again without a doubt.
Our favourite so glad we
Have the Queens Head on our doorstep. Never fails to deliver
Lovely old English pub surroundings serving top quality restaurant food.
Hadn’t been for some time, so pleased we decided to eat here with good friends for a pre Christmas meet up. We had a wonderful evening, great meal, great service, great ambience. Look forward to returning soon. Thank you for a really enjoyable evening.
Was lovely as always 😀👏
Excellent food and superb service. Thank you very much indeed.
Most of my party enjoyed the food although one chose lamb and it was very fatty. Some of The vegetables were hard and this too one of my psrty did not like. The price for a Sunday roast is quite high so would not make it a place for a regular visit but more for a special occasion. Staff were very courteous and helpful.
Beautiful food and great value!
Great Food in comfortable surroundings. Staff were attentive. Had Sunday lunch which whilst excellent, perhaps a touch over priced. That is my only criticism and certainly won't detract us from returning to try the a la carte menu. Had a thoroughly enjoyable experience
Excellent as usual, very
Lucky to have this as our local!
This was our first visit by recommendation and we were not disappointed. The service was exemplary and we were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Food always tastes better when the service is good and both the waiter and waitress were attentive. On saying that the food was good, well presented and served hot on hot plates.
We will definitely return.
