Our menu embodies a unique blend of ethnic and progressive dishes with seafood at its heart but also offering meat, poultry and vegetarian dishes, mostly designed for sharing. Unbelievable experience from start to finish. Staff was incredibly attentive without being at all intrusive. We highly recommend The Quilon.
The staff were extremely diligent and friendly and they provided great suggestions in terms of the menu and what would be best to have. It made for a very special 60th birthday for my father.
Absolutely exceptional food and service. Truly memorable dining experience.
Very good food and service
Good restaurant that needs a few tweaks to be exceptional. In summary, amazing starters and wine but very bland main dish. Timing is all wrong and needs fixing. Staff are very friendly but disorganised. Do inform the diners about complementary dishes at the start.
Long review because I genuinely want them to do well. Hopefully this will be seen as constructive.
First the positives, staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. Ambiance & decor was pleasant. Wine list is priced very reasonably for the quality.
The Fisherman’s catch starter was simply fantastic! The seafood was very fresh. Each piece cooked to perfection and tasted incredible.
The complementary mini popadoms were freshly made and the chutneys and accompanying sauces were just divine.
The complementary mini rassam soup palate cleanser was delicious.
Here are the negatives.
The signature Mains dish - Braised lamb shank was very disappointing. The meat was tough and the sauce and flavour was very bland. Simply not a good dish - let alone Michelin star quality. The tomato rice was average as was the Malabar paratha.
I didn’t order the Briyani as I was told that it didn’t have any accompanying dhal which is very strange as this is standard in every single Indian restaurant.
The signature Qojito (with chilli infused vodka) tasted very average. The crushed ice was not the right size - a very petty point I admit but this is meant to be a Michelin star restaurant
The timing of dishes was very poor. It took forever for my cocktail to arrive. The starters arrived before the popadoms. The rassam soup arrived at the same time as the main.
The whole paying process was very strange. No complimentary sweet - even something small would have been a nice gesture.
I informed the restaurant during the booking that it was my birthday. They totally forgot. I ordered my taxi and then they rushed over saying they have a cake for me. But it was too late. A real shame.
We have been to Quilon before and so we were prepared for the outrageous costs. However, the waiter convinced us to allow him to select items that we would split. Splitting 90 pound dish that had five tiny pieces of cod was hardly what we expected! He ordered way too much food for us. We left one dish untouched! All in all, it was a very disappointing experience.
Wonderful vegetarian options and top notch service in a beautiful setting. Highly recommend !
The food and service was absolutely amazing, a great experience. The ambiance could be improved but this did not affect the experience.
Staff very accommodating
The food and cocktails were lovely but the whole experience was a little different than what the party who attended expected. Food took too long to arrive and the reservation looked like it was an after thought. Drinks were missed and we were overcharged for water.
Beautiful food with subtle flavours. Drinks expensive, but a good selection.
Calm and enticing atmosphere.
While the food was absolutely on point with what we’ve come to expect from Michelin-starred restaurants, the ambience and service fell short.
We were delighted by the variety and quality of the seafood tasting menu which was delicious.
However, the delivery of food was awkward, disjointed and painfully slow, while the initial warm welcome was soon forgotten with an impersonal approach that was more suited for business dinners rather than couples or families.
Staff exceptional and helpful, starter's unbelievable, would go again
Amazing food and brilliant staff, polite and friendly
Outstanding food and the best service. All the staff were truly magnificent and made the occasion really special
What amazing food bringing the Indian cuisine alive. The seafood was phenomenal.
Service was exceptional. A friendly tram, happy to advise on menu choices, on hand to support.
No hesitation in recommending.
We will return
Really delicious food, and good service. Will definitely go back!
The tasting menu and premium wine pairing was excellent.
Absolutely perfect! Pleasant atmosphere and the most delicious food!
Wait staff was unwilling to explain how the menu works. simply said "what do you want to eat". Extremely poor service for a Michelin starred place.
Food was amazing, perfect potion size and its flavours at every bite. Staff where knowledgable and so Eager to please. Chef came to check on us to ensure we where happy!
Worth the extra money for a truly amazing culinary experience!!
We returned for dinner for our 1st anniversary having eaten here after we were married last year; we hope now to make it a tradition and come every year. The service was great, attentive and the little touch to wish us a happy anniversary was that bit extra that makes you want to return. The food was delicious, lived up to our experience from last year and more. We would very much recommend this restaurant.
The South West Coastal brunch was delicious and great value for money (£45pp including VAT and charges - they also have a no tipping policy). It is filling - you won’t be able to finish everything. The service is fantastic, staff wearing face masks and the restaurant is spacious/not overcrowded/crammed so you can enjoy your meal in peace. We love The Quilon and the staff there and hope to be back soon.
We felt looked after and our young son was catered to perfectly. The seafood tasting menu was amazing and the service was perfect.
Very good and they gave us a lovely table . My guests were happy
Fabulous meal and I meal really fabulous.
I’ve travelled throughout Asia and the Middle East and eastern in other Michelin starred restaurants and this is as good as it gets.
The waiter was making jokes about me and my friends, trying to make us uncomfortable - maybe because of our race or because of our age (we are not sure) because we were the only table treated like this as he was talking respectfully to people from other tables. I really loved this place before, but this service really disappointed me this time, so I will not return back.
Fabulous food. Fabulous service can’t wait to go again
Beer tasting menu was excellent and the pairings worked very well. Took a while to get the first course and beer but once it got going the food and beer came efficiently. The beer is different glasses for each course was a nice touch. Staff were friendly and good. Would very much recommend this for people looking for excellent Indian food with a modern twist.
Stunning evening at the Quilon. Great service from the staff. We opted for the tasting menu and each course was spaced out nicely that you had a good break between but not long enough that you start to get hungry again Ahahah. Delicious (albeit pricey) cocktails also to accompany.
Really really yummy food, would highly recommend
Great atmosphere, quiet on a weekday night, nice service and amazing food! We absolutely will come again.
Quality meal & service
The food is delicious, cocktails are very good and the service is very high level !
We passed a very good time in this restaurant.
Fantastic dining experience. The food was delicious, well presented and delivered by attentive and friendly staff. Highly recommended.
This was a wonderful experience and one I highly recommend, the only reason I gave a 4 star on the food was for my experience on the non veg tasting menu the main was slightly underwhelming that the previous dishes I had, I felt the tarkar daal was out of place with the lamb shank and lamb biriyani but this is my personal taste, everything else was amazing.
We received VIP service! Our waiter sellected our meals versus ordering alacart. In addition, my daughters are vegan. The chef did an amazing job accommodating their dietary needs. We will definitely go back.
The food and ambience are as always amazing but it’s been noteworthy that the menu has shrunk, quantity reduced of the portions and the prices hiked. Would I go back again- definitely will as we have been always visiting them even taking parcels during covid times from them (Bombay brasserie) as the food is good and we would like to support them where we can. I would only urge the team to have rational pricing/decent portion sizes or both.
Lovely food .. fabulous flavours and attentive service
Lovely weekend brunch with exceptional food and service.
Outstanding service and delicious food! We will definitely visit again
Great service and great food, would definitely visit again
