Lovely meal, great food. But i do feel their butter policy was a little tight, 1 slab of butter per 2 people. It felt as though there was a butter shortage? Or it was costing them a fortune to provide any more than that.
Lovely food cosy restaurant and amazing views. Good service and a nice choice and the deli shop is good to
Went here for lunch with friends. Great food and good service. Lovely and warm with the lot fires going. Will go again for sure.
This was the first time that we have had Sunday lunch at The Rams Head. The weather was awful with very low cloud over the Moors of Denshaw when we came across the inn. Parking was easy and as soon as we walked in we felt the warmth of the place with a log burner crackling away in the imposing fireplace and very friendly staff taking care of us. Once settled the service was impressive with a mix of older experienced staff who took charge of two younger and enthusiastic team members. A great selection of beers and lagers together with a solid and inexpensive wine list.
A quirky start to lunch saw them bring out a tray of mini onion loaves, home made of course. They were delicious! The lunch menu was impressive and we settled for traditional Roast Beef and exceptionally crisp roast potatoes and a selection of vegetables. This was served with delicious gravy and a giant and I mean giant Yorkshire Pudding, so light.
The meal was finished with a freshly made crumble of apples and blackberries.
Homely and attentive whilst being spotlessly clean. After lunch you can indulge in a very cleverley stocked deli that is in the next room. (The gents are also worth a look)!
Excellent value for money, The Ram's Head Denshaw is a great place and one we shall return to, sooner rather later!
Lovely food, excellent staff and service. We went for a 70th Birthday celebration and the staff really spoiled us. Will definitely be back 😊
An overall good dining experience with friends
Lovely outlook, easy access from M62, friendly welcome, excellent service, great food. What more could you want!
Nice to go for a special occasion, beautiful views over Saddleworth and the Moors.
Lovely meal, excellent service, friendly staff. Small but good selection of local produce and confectionery from the farm shop. Will definitely return & would recommend to everyone.
it was a pretty last minute booking for 4 of us - in transit to another gathering - and what a great way to spend a couple of hours. The menu was reasonably varied though only one main option for our veggie member.
The game dishes which we selected were very good quality and well presented. I would not hesitate to recommend it.
Service was polite and friendly , though staff trying to light the table candle during dessert was a miss....
It is certainly worth the journey for the food alone , and as it was on the way.... it will be a regular stop off in future.
Lovely Sunday Lunch at the Ram's Head on Saddleworth Moor. Great views, really nice food and a nice quiet atmosphere.
Been going for the last 16 years each time gets better than the last. Beautiful Sunday roast a 5* meal at 20 quid for three courses well worth the 20 mile drive from Urmston ,attention to detail brilliant the waiter/barman always welcoming. Try it you won't be disappointed with the food
Excellent service, food & venue. Worth the drive and worth another visit.
Based on their own promo material 'gastro pub, was looking forward to eating there for the 1st time. Sadly the food with the exception of the smaller meals didn't live up to anticipation. Roast dinner. York pudding burned on base. Desert stocky toffee pudding not cooked correctly on either case. Crumble just me. Biggest disappointment hot chocolate drink allegedly made with ,"melted choc" and milk was clearly, due to granulated powder in bottom made from hot chocolate mix. I would pass this place and visit the oldest black ladd instead. The prices are also heavy for the indifferent quality.
We use The Ram's Head often. Always cracking service and grub.
Lovely food in an atmospheric location, good service and warm welcome
Food ok service slow although not busy, given bread then not told it was an extra cost
Very welcoming warm friendly service food was amazing definitely worth a trip out to
Lovely location with wonderful views. Very easy to find off the M62. The staff are excellent. This was our second visit after being very impressed first time. Some food not as good this time, but that was probably because the main course was waiting to be served while we took longer over our first courses. And we stupidly did not raise the matter with staff when they checked because we had been embarrassed by a complainer at our first visit. I am sure that they would have put it right. Our fault entirely.
The service is excellent always made to feel welcome . Food is fresh . Delicious for Sunday lunch x
Main meal was excellent, we had eggs benedict for starter should have asked for egg to be well cooked very watery. Would certainly go again. too full for dessert.
Spot on as always. Great staff, great service. Thanks
Ate there for our wedding anniverary celebration but chose a salad meal for a healthy option following return from a long indulgent holiday. Both choices were delicious with a good selection of salad vegetables and the protein accompaniments (mine goat's cheese, my wife's smoked mackerel) very generous. However, if ordering, best to ask for the dressing to be served on the side, as while excellent, it was rather over-generously applied.
Quality food in a fantastic environment located on the edge of Saddleworth moor. As it is of the beaten track those that use it want to be there for the right reasons not just a boozy pub crawl. This makes the atmosphere and ambience second to none.
Lovely meal with "Old Friends". Definitely worth the journey back across to the "Right side " of the Pennines. Will return.
This was our first visit to the Rams Head, we went for Fathers Day, everything was fine and the drinks were great, the only thing was that they put courgettes on a Sunday roast, who does that? I could tolerate the green beans but courgettes are a No no. There are definitely better places for a Sunday roast.
Very friendly and approachable staff, seated us on time. Good choice on the menu together with daily specials. First class food served on time. Definitely recommended..
Good value Sunday lunch menu. Great service from friendly staff. Lovely view from dining room.
My partner and I had such an enjoyable meal at the Rams Head. The views and the food were incredible. We can’t wait to come back!
Excellent Sunday roast, everything was hot and the pork was nice and lean. If I was to be negative some crackling would have been nice!! Deserts were lovely and big portions, all on all a great dinner!!
Great views and great food, well presented.
Definitely worth the drive and will go there next time I'm in Manchester
This was my first visit, my daughter was visiting from Oxford and wanted to go to a nice country pub. We had a window seat and the view was stunning, very friendly staff and a good service, food was excellant
We will certainly back as we had an excellent meal on Saturday night with visiting friends. A wonderful location and well worth the drive. Bar staff and waitresses were friendly and the food was imaginative, interesting and very tasty. No one around the table was disappointed! We will be making the trip over from Huddersfield again - thank you
Enjoyed a very good Sunday roast - I had the delicious rare roast beef and my husband had an equally delicious honey roast ham. We have been before for dinner in the evening, and the food was excellent then as well. Good ingredients and excellent value for money.
Not our first time here...Excellent meal....we had 3 courses and a bottle of wine...very reasonable bill. We have eaten at Eric’s quite a lot...but the meal we had beat Eric’s hands down. Will definitely be returning.
Loved the pub but would not have Sunday lunch next time the beef Wellington looked good
Always fabulous food and service. Will be back again soon when we are in the area :)
Our food was fantastic and so delichious. We are vegetarians and although there is only one vegetarian dish, it was outstanding,as was the risotto starter.
Kind and friendly staff, however communication was rather slow with no apologies from staff who were very very young , doing their best with limited experience it seemed.
Otherwise a wonderful meal
As good as it gets great dining experience Thanks.
Waiter service was excellent but we waited a long time for our food and when it came the chips were slightly overcooked and food that should have been hot was only warm.
my pie was delicious but similar pies from marks and spencer only take half an hour to heat in the oven whereas we waited for at least an hour for our food.
