poor quality main course,a£2.50 reheated pie with almost no filling.Tiny portion of chips, and little choice of veg. Starter a slice of Tesco value pate. Wife asked for a 10 oz sirloin and was served a stringy 8 oz ribeye, most of which she left.
Calls itself an Inn with only one ale on tap
Poor value.Wont be going there again

Sunday Lunch at the Rams Head for my sister's Birthday on Sunday 19th May. Have been here many times for both special occasions and for an evening meal out and the restaurant and staff never disappoint. Excellent food and attentive service with excellent food every time. Highly recommended.

The menu is very limited - only one vegetarian starter and main course, nothing vegan. Very much traditional pub food and not very exciting. We were seated in a soul-less room which seemed to be the main thoroughfare to the kitchen so felt like a corridor. The music was very odd and did nothing to add to the atmosphere. Service fine generally but very slow. We gave up on desserts as we had been waiting too long for our table to be cleared. If you're looking for basic and filling then this place is fine but certainly not interesting or special.

After hearing great things about the Rams Head our experience was a little disappointing. The food was average, house white wine lovely though. Yorkshire pud rather dark, lamb unartistically piled on, veg very nice but not the best, gravy unappetising looking . Service was friendly, helpful and accommodating. No ambiance to speak of as the place was deserted at 6pm on admittedly a beautiful Easter Sunday. Literally only us. The mystery is why it was deserted as when you book, you don't know the weather will be beautiful, and as you have to enter your credit card at booking on Open Table and are told that cancelling within 48 hours of your slot will incur £10 a head charge, does that mean no-one books? And if so, why the cancellation charge If you do?

Attended for Sunday lunch at this lovely traditional inn style restaurant with shop - wonderful food and good value for money. I will definitely be returning to try the al la carte menu one evening.

Myself and 5 others dined at the beautiful restaurant for a friend birthday and we very much looking forward to the experience. I ordered surf and turf and the steak very well done to be challenged by the server that it will come out really small, which I understood. he seemed to criticize the way I wanted to eat my steak, my friend wanted hers blue and he immediately commented on that's the way it should be eaten, I felt as if I had to change my preference. the steak (sirloin) came out it was very fatty and not a quality steak as expected for the price, i was flabbergasted to see id paid a £.75 for TWO PRAWNS !! and the chips were burned. the child's goujons were to hard for her to eat as they were over cooked, her mum had to take out the contents of the goujon to give to her as she is 18 months old and couldn't eat the batter it was too hard. My friends steak was luke warm. The server saw I hadn't eaten my dinner and asked if it was ok, I told him nope I didn't enjoy it as the steak was very poor quality with loads of fat and he didn't even apologies or order any alternative, we didn't want to argue, as we felt this maybe the case if we had complained, we just left and vowed never to go back, the whole experience was awful, such a shame for the beautiful pub and location. The cost of the meals was £131 so not cheap

Lovely food and exceptional service always makes this an excellent night out. On top of this there are the wonderful views of the countryside and the pantry where you can buy fresh local produce. I will gladly recommend that it to everyone.

We had to wait a long time for food and when it came it was cold (Sunday roast). Some of the staff were very rude - You almost felt like you were being told off if you asked for something. Desserts off the Sunday set menu were poor. Starters were ok and onion bread was nice.

Been there on lots of different occasions over the last 15 years it's normally ok.But this time we got served by a dark haired youg waitress she was rude had no customer service skills gave us one 🍰 menu then grunted the word yep what do you want to my wife. The three course meal was ok but not to its usual standard it was a Sunday afternoon so it was not that busy they rely on passing trade so after the vile unprofessional behaviour of the young waitress we won't be going back anytime soon we have been loyal customers and that counts for absolutely zero

Poor selection of beer and beer glasses.
Game pie - pastry over cooked may have been cooked twice and little meat, poor flavour.
Staff could not give a detailed description of food content ie vegetarian option and which cheese was used for the stuffed cheese cake.

Lovely venue - slight problem with the fog - able to converse easily at the table - was disappointed with my dish - fish pie - All other meals were acceptable except one who found the beef a bit tough. The staff were brilliant - excellent service -
Wasn’t too happy re lack of 175ml glass of wine availability -

Having been to the Rams Head multiple times I was really excited to take some friends to try it out too. As we arrived I told the host we had booked for 6 people but 2 were babies so would need high chairs, I understand that, that was not what he was expecting but it shouldn’t have been a huge issue for a place that has a children’s menu- we were made to feel very awkward and spent the rest of the evening feeling like a huge inconvenience even though we were 1 of only 2 tables so it wasn’t like the place was busy. There was a lady who came through who was lovely and warm and said “oooh do you need a spoon for the babies? You should have just asked!” But we hadn’t as the male running it had made us feel that bad. That was the only time we saw her though.

The food was lovely, that is why I haven’t given an extremely low rating; everything was cooked well and very tasty. However there was only one vegetarian option for my friend who cannot eat anything with chive in so asked for the sauce to be left off, but it had still been poured all over when it arrived. Again we felt that awkward that we didn’t say anything.

With the price of the food being what it is, I would have expected much better when you think about the fact we had been made to feel awful and one of us given something they couldn’t eat!

Safe to say I was really embarrassed I had recommended and won’t be going with our baby again anytime soon.

Christmas Eve lunch treat with friends, excellent service and food as usual. Marked as four star and not five due to a small issue with a starter that I have dealt with directly, other than that, the Rams Head never fails to provide a pleasant setting to eat distinctly above average food. Well worth a visit.

Warm Inn out open the wet ans misty moors. Food and wine selection is great, the Chateaubriand was fabulous and very reasonably priced; that doesn't mean I'd like you to put it up :) .

A special intimate place where you can talk and eat great food.
