Everything was great!
most items on the short menu they was out of at 7pm , if have special menu dont think items on it should have , i know pandemic but it was 7pm and there was only 2 tables in the place. people said food was wonderful but everything we wanted was out of stock. upset it was 1year anniversary wanted nice meal.
Very good food and service for a reasonable price.
Great place! Our server was amazing, food was excellent. I would definitely book again!
The steak was very tender and cooked just right. the dusk breast was also very good. The staff were helpful very friendly. The desert was average. I would go again.
Unfortunately we went during COVID, so they h ad a limited menu and we were unable to get what we had wanted. We were able to get something else, which was very good. Service was good, quiet atmosphere. Good drinks. Great Service. Looking forward to going after this mess is over.
If you want a really good steak then don't go to downtown Frederick. Go to the Red Horse Steak House at the entrance to the Golden Mile. I've never had a fillet at any other restaurant in Frederick that is anywhere near the quality for tenderness and taste that I've only had at the Red Horse. While others beef is acceptable. Beef at the Red Horse is spectacular! You can also count on tasty sides like the oven-roasted Brussel sprouts, green beans, et al.
The service is friendly, swift, and excellent. The Red Horse is very clean and sanitized. All staff were wearing masks and sufficiently spaced apart. We felt very safe throughout our dining experience.
The owner, Kenny Bromfield, always presents himself at your table to ensure that everything is to your liking. Kenny is usually on the premises taking care of his customers and ensuring the quality of your meal.
The Red Horse stocks a selection of fine wine and a full-service bar. I particularly enjoyed the Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley Oregon Vintage 2017 with my beautiful fillet mignon.
Treat yourself and enjoy dinner at the Red Horse Steak House.
The steaks were fabulous. Melted in our mouths.
Better service and attention to detail would have put the Red Horse over the top. Sadly the food far outpaced the wait staff.
The Red Horse is our go to restaurant to celebrate! The food is always great and the staff is exceptional.
Decent food, dated facility, too expensive for the quality
Just a wonderful place for all ages. Staff friendly, efficient and the food is excellent. While we don't live close by geographically, we always stop here when we have the opportunity. Don't miss out on a great place!
Excellent food, wonderful service. We felt very special on our first visit to this Frederick landmark
Service was great food was okay different menu than what's on the website
Birthday celebration
Excellent dinner and wait staff. Look forward to the main dining room opening.
Delicious food, great service, little overpriced. Currently in-door dinning is downstairs only so not as nice as the upstairs.
The service is amazing. The restaurant is a bit older, as far as decor goes, but the food is pretty good. They have an extensive drink menu which looks like fun. They wouldn’t honor their Sunday specials they advertise online, so that was a bummer, but businesses are struggling during the COVID pandemic so we were understanding. Very casual dining experience. Is probably a fun place under normal conditions when they have live entertainment.
Food is very good, well prepared. Great service.
Red horse is a gem. Our first time. Old style steak restaurant. The steak was really good. The service was exceptional. The dessert was huge and tasty (chocolate cake of course).
Red Horse executes a classic steak dinner with simplicity and perfection. This is the place you hope you find when you travel to a new town - I think us locals take it for granted. Generously sized steaks that are cooked exactly as you request them, nice sides that are included with the steak (unusual for a steak house), and desserts you’ll not only want to order, but finish (if you can). Our party kept it simple - each adult ordering a filet mignon, loaded baked potato, and asparagus. The child ordering a huge hamburger from the kids menu. We finished with chocolate lava cake and lemon meringue pie - our son was most happy with the lava cake, he refused to share. Overall, an excellent, old school steak house experience. The staff was excellent and they were great to my son — providing a great activity menu, smiles, laughs...and drinks with a lid. If you’re looking for a good steak at a fair value, skip the drive to the city and simply enjoy what’s in your backyard. You’ll be happy with your choice. I’m ready to give the old horse another run.
Dinner was fabulous. It was a birthday celebration and all five of us were thrilled with our meal and the service.
Meal, ambiance and location were all very good. Kileen, our server was wonderful. Looking forward to next time we're in the area so we can stop in again.
It was quite busy as many people were celebrating Valentines Day. Having said that, the Duck breast with tart cherries was most excellent. Also, the desert menue was very good. We had no complaints with the food or service.
We actually were facing a date night disaster on Valentine’s Day. Our original restaurant was way over-booked. Needless to say, we won’t go back there again. But we were faced with the distinct possibility of having to do fast food. Then we found a spot at Red Horse so we jumped at it. My expectation was significantly tamped down given that it was late on such a busy night. To our surprise, our waitress Ruth was very upbeat and kind. She took the initiative to move us to a much better table. The steaks were good, perhaps not outstanding but we had a wonderful evening.
It took the server over 15 minutes to come to our table just to take our drink order. It took an hour and fifteen minutes to get our food and they sent us home with someone else’s leftovers!
Food is always delicious, served exactly as we asked, thank you master cooks! The bartender was busy, but awesome. The waitresses, waiter, hostess and helpers were right there to help keep the bartender hopping!
Disaster from start to finish. I had a party of 8, made my reservations Jan 14 (confirmed) for 2/14 @ 7PM. Got a call from restaurant 10 minutes before we arrived stating they had to push our reservations back, said they had just received them the day before and didn't have room. The receptionist hung up on me. We were seated at 7:25 (only because of my complaining which affected my evening). Half hour to get drink order, an hour and half before entrees served. The 5 steaks were raw and sent back. Returned 15 minutes later. They were OK but not up to RH standard. They did give us 1/2 off but I'm never going back. The decor is dated, the presentation of food was lousy, the front staff skanky looking. And the service was not up to their standard. I understand holiday traffic but I made reservations a month in advance and expected better treatment. They need to close if they don't want to run a restaurant. I get better food/service at the MountainView Diner.
We've been coming to the Red Horse for many years - it's our "special occasion" restaurant. My wife loves your prime rib - so glad you had it for Valentine's Day. The wait staff is always attentive but not too in your face. We really love the Red Horse!
Good steaks and great service.
Awesome place to eat. You can always count on the quality. Best steaks around.
I took my family to Red Horse for my husband's birthday and we were very pleased overall with the experience. Food was straight forward and simple, but well prepared. Atmosphere was appropriate for an intimate steakhouse, only comment there was that the music was not very good and at times two playlists could be heard simultaneously, probably one from the bar and one from the dinner room. Service was terrific. Could imagine returning for another special occasion.
Awesome food and ambiance our server was very attentive as well.
I had not been here in years and was skeptical after reading bad reviews. The service and the food was still as excellent as I remembered. We were on the bar side and it was New Years Eve so it was a little loud. Would like to see the decor updated, but leave the wood finishes.
We had been here before a couple years ago and i don’t remember it being as bad as this time. We went for nye with the kids. First, one of the busboys was chewing on gum so loudly you could hear him across the restaurant. Our waitress seemed good at first but as soon as we got our food she disappeared! I ordered surf and turf and the only edible item was the lobster, the steak was too tough and fatty to even chew. My husband got the prime rib which was much better. As for the ambiance, it is an extremely dark restaurant. They only have small orange lights on the chandeliers above the table. We could hardly see the menus and the kids couldn’t even see to color their kids menu!
The Red Horse was fabulous service was great and the food was delicious. Will definitely go again Ken and his team always do a good job. Looking forward to 2020
Restaurant is something of a time capsule -- very much a 70's vibe with lots of aged wood decorating the walls and ceilings. The menu reflects many dishes that have remained popular since that time too. It was very pleasant to have a meal in a quiet room with tablecloths and candles. A good experience - the quality of the food was fair for the price and we had a great server.
Fantastic service and food was top notch. We just moved to the area so we will definitely be back
Price was very high for food that was not that tasty not cooked as ordered.tough steak
The restaurant itself is very nice however the food is way overpriced. The $30+ steaks were just ok, the fried pickles breading tasted old and the calamari was not cooked long enough.
Definitely not worth the $300 we paid for 2 couples with tip.
