Service was quite poor. They said they couldn’t see our booking so we had to wait for a table to become free. As we were staying at the hotel we went back into our room and the manager said he’d call us once a table became free- maximum of 15 minutes. We waited half an hour and decided to go back down- still awaiting the phone call. We got seated this time. Ordered our food. One meal came and the other didn’t. The waitress who was really friendly and helpful said the other dish I had ordered hadn’t gone through to the kitchen. So we waited a further 15 minutes for that to come out. When we eventually got our food, it was lovely! Service was poor unfortunately...
We made a last minute booking and were delighted with our table. The ambience was lovely as the restaurant was buzzing with guests and decorated beautifully for Easter. Though clearly busy the staff took good care of us. Food and wine were great too. Looking forward to our next visit. Thank you everyone :-)
Staff were pleasant but just not very well trained. Our waiter told us that the tuna steak could only be cooked medium or well done. The Tuna was listed in the grill section of the menu alongside all of the steaks, so he was convinced that it should come with a mushroom even though we requested a salad instead. When he came back from the kitchen he confirmed that we could have it rare with a salad. He then went on to ask us if we wanted the Peppercorn, Bearnaise or Blue cheese sauce with it..... My wife had the tuna - it was overcooked. I ordered the smokey venison - I was presented with a beautiful platter of rare medallions under a bell jar. The waiter then apologised for the lack of smoke under the bell jar - the chef's smoking gun was broken. I should have been told this when I ordered it - then he could have left the bell jar in the kitchen! The Venison was delicious - just a shame about the lack of smoke - I think it would have made it amazing.
Always excellent, good food, lovely surroundings, view and excellent attentive service
Excellent food and helpful, friendly staff. We stayed at the hotel and were able to keep the table for the whole evening.
Fantastic service and the attention to dateils by the waiting crew specially to anna ( waitress) attentive specially to kids , and very relax atmosphere,, definitely we will come back again,, and highly recommended to friends and family
Good service , good food , check bill as was overcharged for drinks.
The menu could have had more choice, however we all had fillet steak which was delicious if a little pricey, staff were good, the roslin is a very nice place to eat, the desserts were yummy !!
Normally I would give the Rolin a five star rating all round, but unfortunately on Saturday evening I'm not sure what went so wrong!
We were dining with friends we havn't Taken before and on this occasion They never saw this restaurant at its best. We are regular diners at the Roslin , and have enjoyed the experience every time. it will not stop us from coming as we know the normal standard is Excellent .
we had a table reservation for 7-15 pm , but. Didn't receive our starter untill 8-45 pm and then went on to wait ages for our main course , making it far to late to order a pudding.
We're. Hoping our friends will give it another chance , and. Find out just how Great it can be. I hasten to add the staff are always delightful and attentive and always make us feel welcome.
The hotel is being refurbished, still. When confirming my booking over the telephone they couldn’t find my booking, so rebooked adding 3 more people. I also updated my booking to say we would have a wheelchair. On the night we had to get the wheelchair up a big step and they had to be lifted up. What I would say that I’m so disappointed in were not informed that the disabled toilets were not in use, no one said this over the phone or even when we arrived it was only when my mum needed the bathroom after the starters we were then informed. Very disappointed!
Food service was very slow as waited an hour for starters and then another hour for mains plus 45minutes for desert
The staff needed to actually work, when you sit down ask if they want a drink even if waiting for people to arrive and offer the menu
Excellent food beautifully presented in very nice surroundings - and with a sea view. Courteous staff who were comfortably attentive.
This is the second time that I have eaten at the Roslin, this time for Sunday lunch.
The service and food are excellent, the ambience is good, the tables are rather close together, but that is OK if your dining neighbours are sociable and pleasant.
I will visit again, not frequently as the prices are too high for regular eating, but on special occasions or with special friends.
Our favourite restaurant, especially over Christmas when the decorations are second to none. We are never disappointed at the Roslin and have used the restaurant for numerous family celebrations.
Really nice surroundings, great food, very good value for money and great service what is there not to like. Was a good choice for our wedding anniversary.
First time I have been there, even though I live quite near. Always thought it was up market but I was really surprised. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience, the meal was very good, staff attentive but not overly. Would definitely be going again
The food is good quality and perfectly cooked. Service is very good and served in lovely surroundings. We were at the hotel for a couple of days for our diamond wedding anniversary and the dining experience was excellent throughout. The only criticism I have is that I ordered a glass of vintage port at the end of our meal and it was off and had sediment in it ! Quite disappointing for a hotel of this standard. In hindsight I should have complained at the time.
That aside, I would thoroughly recommend The Roslin restaurant.
It was a lovely lunch and service was perfect as I was celebrating my 80th birthday 2 Sundays running one with family and one with friends. Thank you for your tip top service
Expected a better more varied menu. Overall food good but pricey.
Missed a trick by not providing old favourites such as fish and chips and beefburgers unless we specifically asked for them.
Great setting and relaxed atmosphere.
Friendly, professional team, serving great food, from a very good varied menu.
Excellent experience. I had experienced a set lunch menu then on this occasion A La Carte. I will return soon. Possibly to sample the Afternoon Tea which looked amazing.
First class food and service but car parking woefully inadequate. Had to park a ridiculous distance to avoid parking ticket that I saw others get (including those who were staying in at the hotel!). The hotel is surrounded by yellow lined roads, so beware.
Was a lovely lunch, only down side we was full up so only managed 2 courses, but that only took £2.00 off the bill. I thought £18.00 for 2 courses was a lot when you then pay service charge too. Was my birthday!
A very pleasant evening with good food and a great atmosphere all round
just a little bit draughty by the front door. Alan
We were treating someone for lunch so was apprehensive as never been to lunch at the Roslin before. We needn't have worried! We had fantastic food which was presented beautifully. Service was friendly and on the ball. We had a great table overlooking the estuary, so perfect all around. 5*
We have been to the roslin twice we had evening meal and overnight stay then we came back for afternoon lunch couple weeks later it's a beautiful hotel food great and staff a brilliant and very friendly we will be back thank you
Excellent food and service but simply not suitable for vegetarians as menu very limited with no suitable meat substitutes or gravy other than meat-based.
Food was exceptional waiting staff were very attentive and not intrusive
Very good food and charming waiters. Have been there before and would go again as a special treat for the a la carte menu.
We went for Saturday lunch and the whole experience was outstanding, the quality of the food, the ambience and the service. One particular waitress ( apologies but didnt note her name) was amazing and nothing was too much trouble even down to cutting up an elderly persons food. Very well done and i will definitely be back.
Nice place to eat overlooking the sea. Good food in a lovely setting.
We booked a table for two 8pm weekdays for our unofficial third anniversary. We had a table near the front window with a good view of the sea front and chose the set menu option.
All the courses were delicious and well presented and the waitress Ana Maria looked after us very well and gave us some good recommendations too.
We will definitely go there again.
Really lovely, great food and service. Look forward to going again soon.
As per usual the service, food and overall ambience of this hotel and restaurant was exceptional.
Had a lovely evening meal on Sunday with the family, went for the 3 course set menu and was not disappointed. Meat was cooked just right and pudding was to die for even the cheeky Lemon Drop cocktail was amazing.
We only live round the corner and wish we could get a table more, just shows that its worth the visit.
Rather expensive for food and wine I would expect to pay that in London but a very nice evening and we were lucky to have had a window view but I would just like to say that the Dessert listed as Rice Pudding was not Rice Pudding as we know it.... if you class about a Dessert Spoon of Rice as that! It was very nice but I certainly wouldn't recommend it
Service was very good and staff all very polite and knowledgeable
a very nice evening thank you
We had a lovely evening meal hear the staff were tip top very polite and professional we will be back again any time as this venue would be perfect for lunch or dinner so many options indoor resturant outside tables will be perfect in the summer too we ate from the al a carte menus all our dishes were very tasty and beautifully presented lunch time fish and chips will be our next visit hopefully out on the veranda they also serve food at the bar and afternoon tea a further planned visit from us. I can see nothing better than becoming a regular visitor
Ordered the duck which was very chewy so had to send back. Portion size snalll and no veggies with meal
Food was lovely with lots of choice within the buffet breakfast, ingredients were good quality. Good value for all you can eat. The staff made my daughters birthday very special and brought out a cake and sang happy birthday, also gave her balloons. Great view from reserved table by the window. Will definitely be back.
Yes, this was a good experience. We were royally looked after and the service was very attentive. The food was top class and presented beautifully.
We will be back.
Very disappointed, my Husband had booked a table for 7 pm.for an A la carte dinner to celebrate our anniversary. The prawn cocktail starter consisted of a few lettuce leaves on a plate 6/7 small prawns, 1 large prawn, qtr.pce.tomato, and the sauce was hardly noticable, not quite a la carte! My Husband had a Rib eye steak which was'nt very exciting, my Herb crusted Halibut the fish good not a crusted top though and the lemon mash was just warm. So we declined a dessert and sad to say have no inclination to return.
