The Royal Oak - Yattendon
The Royal Oak offers simple, unfussy, Michelin rated food, ten luxurious bedrooms, award winning real ales, roaring log fires and a quite beautiful walled beer garden with al fresco dining under a leafy vine terrace.
We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch yesterday. Delicious food and efficient friendly service. The place was heaving with lots of families with kids, dogs etc. This created a joyous atmosphere, but quite noisy too. Good to see people enjoying themselves though. The tables were well spaced out which is nice to see. I do like the open kitchen concept and the overall ambiance of the dining room which is situated in the conservatory and therefore has a light and airy feel.
Particularly average. Nicely renovated but sadly the food was very average and whoever the manager was seemed very narcissistic making for a bad atmosphere
Really lovely pub with amazing atmosphere. Food was great
All aspects excellent , Vary Happy customers.
Great place with amazing food and service, highly recommend.
The only criticism was there were a few annoying flies buzzing around as we ate.
The apricot & almond tart was a bit heavy.
Our lunchtime experience was excellent. Food top draw, eaten in the garden under a vine-covered loggia on a very hot day. The cajun chicken, while delicious, is a generous plateful, especially if you have had some of the tasty chorizo croquettes as a starter.
I can vouch for the risotto which sets you up for the afternoon, and the flat iron steak hit the spot for one of my guests.
Fabulous food and wonderful friendly service. Andrea and the team looked after us really well. Definitely our "go to" restaurant for food, service and atmosphere, can't fault it.
Great option for a lovely country pub with an interesting and tasty menu.
Good food and service in a pretty garden. Flies were the only negative but not a lot you can do about that in this heat! As soon as plates were cleared flies were gone pestering someone else with food.
Great ambiance! Can highly recommend!
Quick bite with friends. Good food, good service, happy atmosphere.
Super food and lovely ambience. A real treat
Always a treat dining here. Their outside seating area is lovely with beautiful planting and different areas either under the pergola or parasols to while away an hour or two.
Great choice of food all reasonably priced and always very tasty and an extensive wine list.
First time visit for a Sunday lunch. An absolutely beautiful and immaculate hostelry. Attentive staff, excellent food in a truly delightful setting. We will be back.
Excellent interior & exterior, beautifully decorated and great ambient noise levels.
Looked after a gluten free guest really well.
Service was overall quite good
Foodwise, good gastropub but not really michelin star quality, though the prices do not really reflect that, we all thought it was expensive for what we got.
Good drinks (german lager, glass of french pinot, coke and a ginger beer) but, aside from the wine which was well worth 8.50 for a large glass, all were a little bit pricy, especially the non alcoholic drink options
Parking was a bit of a pain on a busy day with no dedicated car park.
Overall, I would recommend as the restaurant is very nicely presented and superior to other offerings locally.
This place is a very nice find and everything was excellent.
As Arnie once stated, we'll be back!
Good choice of food, well presented . The new menu is different and stands out from other pubs in the area, look forward to returning soon
Lovely open dining area . Whilst the decor is quite contemporary it still has a nice rural feel.
Our new favourite restaurant. Always made to feel welcome and the service and food is excellent. A beautiful outside seating area.
Fabulous. Thank you.
Really good Sunday roast, beef and pork were chosen by our party and all agreed everything was lovely….roast potatoes, veg and meat absolutely A1!
Service was excellent, even though the restaurant was busy, it was efficient and attentive. Overall good value for money and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone. Already getting another table booked for next weekend!
Love this place….any excuse to go! You don’t need a special occasion (though if you do they can make a fuss of you if desired)….just visit!
Lovely orangerie dining area and relaxing ambience. Really good rib on the bone steak and fabulous chips.
First time to The Royal Oak, very impressive, food was good great service and a really nice pub. Highly recommend
Lovely place in Yattendon. I'll definitely want visit more than once till I try all the items in the menu. All looks very delicious!
The menu offers some very good and very interesting vegetarian and Asian & N African influenced dishes as well as the usual modern english style dishes and pizzas.
Lovely evening with friends
My dog was welcome
Cannot fault anything
Will be returning
Excellent meal. Good setting- Garden and conservatory area. Very attentive, friendly service. Perhaps a bit expensive but very nice. Plant based main and meat main were both very good. An enjoyable experience.
Lovely restaurant, tastefully decorated. Delicious food, friendly staff. Definitely recommend
Lovely food and service. We had the flatiron steak which were cooked perfectly for us. Starters and dessert also very tasty. I had cheese board which was very generous.
Great restaurant lovely decor and covid safe.
Service staff were very friendly and efficient.
We had a really excellent lunch. Great variety of choice on the menu. Service was speedy. Great fun to watch the food being prepared in the kitchen. Covid guidelines fully observed
Amazing food, lovely staff - thank you for a great evening
First visit in a long time. Really impressed. Will definitely go again.
We had an excellent lunch in a very relaxed and safe surrounding.
The menu choice was very good and the service irreproachable.
We shall certainly return.
Our visit to the Royal Oak was to celebrate a friend's birthday and we couldn't have been more satisfied with the lunch. Great food and wine and good value for money with great service - what more could you ask for! Thanks
Attentive staff and good quality food, made for a really pleasant evening
Initial view of menu was that it was somewhat restricted as it was a Sunday night ie two mains were Sunday lunches .
Service prompt & friendly, and courses delivered in good sequence.
Would expect a bit more innovation in the dishes offered. Settled for fish & chips & ribs for mains, which were fine .
Reasonable wine list & Chilean Merlot a good choice.
Great Sunday lunch - food was fantastic and excellent friendly service. Nice to be “out out” in such a lovely place that was geared up and ready to welcome us back!
Never lets us down!
Great food, excellent service and good atmosphere in a lovely garden setting !
Menu was a bit odd , steak was delicious but lamb & other options seemed a bit bizarre
From moment of arrival and welcome, till departure, excellent in every way. Thank you
