Support The Rupert Brooke during COVID-19
Very good. Conservatory lovely but a little bright and lacked cosy/festive feel for Xmas Eve dining. Food lovely. Service good but could have highlighted cocktails/soup of the day etc and been just a little more attentive but polite and friendly. Will definitely return.
Excellent food and a lovely setting for Christmas - we had a fantastic family meal. Congratulations to the team at The Rupert Brooke for making such an effort to keep trading safely under very challenging circumstances.
We booked a table outside as we were not allowed to eat in due to COVID rules. Unfortunately it was a very cold and wet night and although the two flaming heaters add to the ambiance they were too far away to provide any warmth. We all had the burgers which arrived promptly and were delicious. Service was outstanding and waitress kindly took my phone and put it on charge. The outdoor canopied area is very pretty and a few overhead halogen heaters would have made a pleasant evening perfect
I love the Rupert Brooke and often dine here. However during the current global pandemic, it would be reassuring to know you can dine in safety. Sadly, this is not a priority of the seating plan at the Rupert Brooke. We were sat like sardines. Not enough social distancing providing. Dine own risk! I felt unsafe.
The food is always lovely but not a lot of it . We also were disappointed be told shortly after we arrived at 6.15 that we only had the table until 8pm.
I haven’t been for a while because past experiences a bit mixed ( never bad ) and was pleasantly surprised - it was better than in the past and happy to go again
Great meal and service despite the current circumstances.
I have arranged for my daughter to meet her friends for a Christmas lunch in the Winter Garden, very cosy setting, beautiful ambiance, with lights, flames and heaters, food was good and service excellent. We liked it so much that we returned next day for lunch, this time indoor with family. And we are planning to come back 😊
lovely Sunday lunch despite Covid restrictions. Friendly staff and nice food.
It was lovely to be back at one of our favourite restaurants after the second lockdown.
The staff are really just terrific in terms of being very welcoming and friendly despite the restrictions and let us hope that the restaurant gets the support it truly deserves
The food was up to the usual high quality and very inventive.
We will be back asap with great joy
Great food and service. We had Sunday roasts (one beef and one turkey) and they were delicious
The food was amazing, great vegan choices and the service was great - super friendly!
The food was delicious. We sat outside, which was really special. The Rupert Brooke has gone to great lengths to enable outdoor eating in these winter months - heaters, sheepskins, fairy lights, temporary covers etc. The staff were really friendly. A big thank you!
It was a very cold day and my feet were freezing which sort of spoilt the visit unfortunately - not sure what you can do about this though! Can the room with the doors fully opening to outside be used (not sure on "rules" as outside space? lower level heaters? Blankets?
We all really enjoyed. It was a new experience this time of year !
Ive actually booked another visit !
Thank you
Fantastic, delicious food. Very gourmet. Particularly liked the modern style prawn cocktail.
Once again, a superb dinner and experience at our usual place the Rupert Brooke. I wasn't expecting a Christmas dinner but opted for these options, and it was one of the best roast turkey, vegs and trimmings that I've had. Slight disappointment on the pudding - brandy snap wasn't all that snappy and couldn't be cut, which we mentioned to our waiter and the Chef admitted there was something wrong indeed with it. Half the cost of the dessert was taken off the final bill, as I did enjoy the rest of the pudding elements. We really appreciated this gesture - as always, the Chestnut Group always listen to feedback and rectify any issues, which is why we keep returning. We're visiting one of their other venues on 19th December - the Northgate in Bury St Edmunds, and cannot wait for our Chef's Table experience!
Delicious, well-presented food from an interesting menu. Staff provided good, attentive, service with a smile. We ate at lunchtime in their conservatory which was nice and bright.
Ok starter, lovely main (beef roast). Friendly and polite staff.
Super staff, very good food. Lovely. I would definitely recommend.
Amazing Sunday roast. Best Yorkshire puds I’ve ever tasted.
Service fab and food beautiful. Will definitely return.
First visit to this restaurant. We were looking for somewhere to eat that had lots of space between tables, had good COVID policies in place and also had good food and service, we were not disappointed. Arrived a few minutes late for our slot but the lady greeting us wasn't phased by this. Service was swift , friendly and efficient. The three of us chose the same dish so can't really comment on the food. The rice/ fish dish we had was fresh and tasty, maybe slightly under seasoned but that's an individual preference.
Although 45 mins drive from where we live it's the kind of place I'd happily go to again as it's a restaurant that's confident in what it does and delivers a good quality experience.
Good food, service was a little slow at times but we didn't mind as we wanted time to chat.
Delicious food with a variety of choices on the menu. Good, attentive and welcoming service.
Lovely place for Sunday lunch. Dog friendly, great service and food, also felt very Covid safe and clean.
Overpriced for the quality of the food. Service below par
Enjoyable meal, well presented and good service.
The only negative was no paper in the loo!- presumably due to not having been serviced that day. Therefore only stars.
Came to celebrate a 30th birthday and had a superb experience. Great on all levels! Thank you!
Great food and relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
The experience at the RB is top drawer. The service was fantastic and the food was exceptional. Can’t wait to go back, next week I hope.
All round fine experience, helpful staff and good food in very nice surroundings.
Went to the Rupert Brooke a couple of weeks ago. This was the first time for a very long time. So pleased we did. We then booked a Sunday lunch there last week. Absolutely fab. Everything was perfect.
Lovely venue, staff were friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend!
Thank you for such a lovely day and treating my friend to a free dessert for her 30th. Very kind of you
Had a very enjoyable lunch, service very good, food very nice. Didn’t feel rushed, would recommend.
I went with two girlfriends. I had sirloin steak which was cooked to preferred taste and Very tasty, friends had pork tenderloin and lamb which they both enjoyed. Service was very good. They didn’t add a service charge automatically so we added this tip after.
Haven't been here for quite a while. It has been refurbed now so decided to try it again. So glad we did as it was fabulous. Great food, service and ambience. Going back next weekend.
A disappointing meal. I ordered a special of Black ink risotto with seabass fillet, clams and mussels at £17.
When it arrived the risotto was overcooked (mushy and tasteless) and the sea bass fillet was tiny. Not a full fillet but no more than a quarter. the dish was finished with 3 mussels and 2 clams. When the waiter asked how it was, I gave honest feedback. The reply was "I'll pass it on" I left most of the risotto, and left hungry. On clearing the table, nothing further was said, and I wasn't offered an alternative. Shan't go there again. In these difficult times a restaurant such as this really needs to try harder.
A really lovely meal. The Rupert Brooke went out of their way to make our small celebration of my daughter's 21st birthday really special. They even made brownies specially for her birthday cake! Cant thank them enough. Will definitely be back soon. The risotto was amazing.
Fabulous as always!
