The Saddle Room at the Shelbourne Hotel
Hidden Gem. Great value for a five star hotel. Staff extremely pleasant and come across as very genuine.
Beautiful restaurant, amazing food! Pre theatre menu is great value !! Defo be returning
Birthday celebration. Lovely touch for birthday girl to get candle and culinary delights
We enjoyed a lovely lunch in the Saddle Room on Saturday last. Food was delicious and service was particularly friendly. Thank you all.
Was a somewhat regular visitor here over the years but have noticed over my last several visits that a good restaurant that had great value for money is now a less than average place with really poor. Value for money. As we have discovered this over several trips it's not down to a bad day which any restaurant can be forgiven for having. We won't be
going back in the short to medium term or at last until such time as we hear some good reports again
A little disappointed from my previous visit! My fish course was quite dry & waiter misunderstood due to language & we had 3 side dishes of potatoes which we was such a waste!
Always choose Shelbourne When in Dublin for its friendly atmosphere and staff. First time in the Saddle Rooms for an 80th birthday Wow from the greeting at the door to the fabulous setting and atmosphere. Our lunch was superb we had Hake and Steak cooked to perfection with green veg and dauphinois. Absolutely delicious and various deserts we’re mouthwatering with a good wine and drinks the Hotel provided an impromptu birthday desert for my Aunt to sing Happy Birthday altogether sumptuous. I VE never been more satisfied at the Shelbourne than today. Thank you very much just brilliant as always and great value
I enjoyed every moment in the Sherbourne. The food was amazing and service excellent. We went to the bar afterwards and again 5 out of 5 for attention and service. Can't wait to return
The restaurant is lovely, with very pleasant and professional staff and service. The sauce with the ribeye steak was a little too rich but otherwise the food was great. We go to the restaurant for special occasions fairly regularly, and we’re never disappointed.
The food is gorgeous. The service could have been a little more attentive. The restaurant was not full but I found we had to wait to get the waiters / waitress attention on a number of occasions. As we had a late booking they were
more interested in closing up.
Even with that I would definitely dine here again but before 9pm.
Delayed Main Course with Sorbet apology not good enough for this standard of establishment. Then when fish dishes arrive, fish was overcooked. Starters great, desserts poor.
Fixed 3 course festive menu on 1st Jan for €75. Food was okay, service was very slow even though restaurant was not busy. A few tables had dirty dishes left on them after the diners were long gone, and yet there was someone busy trying to iron a table cloth instead of clearing the dirty dishes. Drinks arrived after the first course and had to ask for bread for my first course of soup!
Comparatively, the Bang restaurant were doing a 6 course taster menu for the same price at €75 and that was a much better dining experience than the Saddle Room.
Fantastic restaurant - pin perfect service and ambiance - food however was only average for the saddle room. Have been a few times before and had a great food experience but this time it was only fair - manager made good on this on bill so trust this was only a blip - will be back soon
We had a lovely Christmas Eve lunch at the saddle room the menu was festive and service was excellent.
The wine list was extensive and well priced.
We had a starter of Crab cocktail followed by Haunch of Venison with a cheese board for afters.
The lunch is double the normal price which i thought a little excessive at €129 per person.
The food was fabulous and I think it was good value my 12 year old was offered a children’s menu and he loved it as the main menu wouldn’t have suited him. Our table was lovely but a bit too secluded for my taste I like to be in the centre of the restaurant but I’ll remember that when I rebook and I will definitely rebook overall wonderful staff and food
Service was exemplary - best that we have experienced in 2019 - the team did everything to ensure we had a great Christmas celebration.
Lovely food, great customer service. €95 set menu a bit pricey as well as paying for sides and water. Perhaps, if coffee is part of the set menu, then a supplement price for an irish coffee would be fair instead of charging full price. I don't frequent establishments like this but it was a lovely experience for Christmas.
This was a wonderful venue but challenged by many patrons, being the height of the holiday season. It was billed on Open Door as being an Irish restaurant, reflected somewhat by limited menu featuring entrees of venison, NY strip, a Vegan harvest-based risotto and a few others which don’t come to mind. The venison was outstanding, the risotto good.
Service was excellent.
Our bill for 2, with 2 cocktails, 2 glasses of wine, appetisers and a shared dessert was €300.
Fantastic afternoon from start to finish, the food and service was superb
Received numerous messages + one phone call advising that I should be on time for my 12:30 booking.
In views of the poor weather on the day and conscious of Central Dublin traffic - we arrived 15 minutes early! However no seating available, just standing in the lobby dripping for 15 minutes. As I have arthritis I was advised to use the disabled bathroom however no toilet roll or towels in the room. The noise level was extremely loud - at the end I found it difficult to hold a conversation with my friends. However it is Christmas time and I'm making an allowance for this - normally I find the saddle room very pleasant. When we paid at the end of the meal - the waitress accepted the wallet - but never returned with either the receipt and left us with no opportunity to assess if the tip was adequate. Finally the gentleman returning our coats - just handed mine to me - did not offer to help - even though I had a crutch, a handbag and a gift bag. Altogether well below your usual standard.
We had a wonderful experience last Monday, enjoyed the festive lunch at the saddle room,
The staff were brilliant from we went in the door. The food was so tasty and well presented.
Overall very good.
I think charging €5.50 for a porition of mashed potatoes, & York cabbage is nothing short of scandalous.
Value for money. You get what you pay for great service. Top class. Second to none.
Nice restaurant. Food good but not amazing...soup in the bar area was nicer. Great staff though.
We conveyed our comments on the food at the time. There were very few diners which made it difficult to engender the sort of ambience that we were expecting. We thought that our dining space lacked atmosphere.
Lovely meal and would highly recommend.
Fabulous restaurant with impeccable service. Special occasion.
A fixed price menu at €95 a head. The overwhelming feeling was " get the table turned over asap". Service was far too quick and absolutely not conducive to a fine dining experience at that price level
Fabulous game tasting menu with matching wines - a real treat for a special occasion.
Wonderful location for a special occasion.
There is a very bland atmosphere in this restaurant, luckily the food was not so bland, but the choices are not great, so we cancelled for the second night of our stay! The sommelier poured wine for us and managed not to utter one word!! Indeed the hotel need to take heed, such a shame, we decided not to breakfast there, instead we found a Friendly cafe!!
Food was excellent, ambiance perfect, service was above expectations. We would highly recommend and will return. Our only drawback was when our meal was over we had to leave the hotel as all the lounges were extremely full but then it was a Saturday evening. Full Mark's to the Shelbourne
Fabulous Food, Attentive and Friendly Staff, Gorgeous Restaurant, Perfect Ambiance for a moment of Calm
Lovely food, fantastic atmosphere, not too noisy. Reasonable priced set lunch at €30 but the extras are over priced including my first ever €6 cup of coffee!
A lovely and memorable evening. Food and wine recommendations were excellent and the chicken was the best I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to return. Thank you!
The Saddle Room restaurant was an unique experience from start to finish. Excellent.
Had a very enjoyable evening on Saturday. Thank you the wonderful staff and to the kitchen for a really delicious meal!
I would highly recommend the saddle room.A small group of of old friends met for lunch; food, service, ambience and prices were excellent. I look forward to returning to the Saddle room
Excellent food in a lovely warm setting. Service lacked slightly in some areas but this did not take away from the fabulous food.
We are very disappointed with the Saddle Room dining experience. Our table was in the middle of a thoroughfare - all tables being accessed by servers by passing our table. Waiters displayed poor training - leaning in front of our guests to serve us, standing in one spot to take our food order and causing us to repeat our order, water served to three people ignoring the fourth. Waiters standing talking in groups and not paying attention to guests.
Our experience at the Saddle room on Friday 15 November 2019 fell far short of our expectations and did not live up to the promise offered by the Sherborne promotional material.
