The Sand Bar & Seafood Company Ratings and Reviews
I was celebrating my birthday and one of the staff made a point of acknowledging it which I thought was a very nice touch. I had the crayfish risotto - huge dish but I ate the lot as so delicious. Staff attentive but have the right balance. Would highly recommend to any of my friends and family. Great ambience!
We went to the sandbar for the first time for our wedding anniversary.
We arrived at about 830 on Saturday and it was busy and had a good atmosphere. The food was excellent and very reasonable.
We had a few glasses of champagne and 2 courses each for about £60!
We'll definitely be going back again
Went here last week for dinner and a catch up with a close friend. We were so impressed with the menu and found it hard to choose!
The goats cheese and tomato salad was amazing. The size of the dish was very generous too. Really lovely vege dishes on the menu and great value with lots of items from the starters and main courses being included in the 2 for £14.99 option.
The staff were friendly and polite, service was good and well timed. We sat upstairs which was quiet and comfortable. Downstairs the bar area looked trendy and sophisticated.
I will definitely go again and would highly recommend this restaurant for great food and lovely surroundings.
Came here with my husband for dinner, food is delicious and plentiful, we were stuffed after two courses but still squeezed down some room for their homemade ice cream- definitely worth it! Service is great, drinks are great, food amazing- highly recommend:)
The second time we have eaten here and an equally good experience. Obviously bistro style on a Saturday evening it is lively but not too noisy to stop conversation. There is plenty of street parking close. It is very much fish and seafood with a good imaginative menu, well cooked and presented. Service is very good - friendly and attentive and neither too rushed nor too slow. If you stick to the special deal which gives a wide selection value for money is outstanding and even without that good value. Thoroughly recommended.
A lovely quaint fish restaurant in Leigh on Sea.
Came here with my husband for a pre Christmas night out!
Food was of a very high standard, huge King prawns, Crab cake & octopus kebab to share as starter.
Our mains were just as fab: fillet of salmon on fried chillis and tomatoes with chunky chips
Fillet of Swordfish (looked like a sirloin steak!) chunky chips
Staff were really friendly and very efficient. I highly recommend this little gem of a restaurant 5*
Particularly impressed with the friendly staff, and not leaving guests unattended for long spells like other restaurants in the Broadway such as The Estuary who tend to neglect customers. Good value, and the highlight have to the be the Oysters and cosy seating areas by the windows. A thoroughly deserved 5 out of 5 for The Sand Bar, and a definite one for recommending.
It was my wife's birthday and we were looking for somewhere new to try. I selected this due to recommendations on another site and my wife had no idea where we were going. There is parking available on the street on the Broadway, but if you cannot get a space, there is a public car park just behind in North Street which I believe is free after 6pm and it is just a short walk back.
The downstairs bar was full of life and the upstairs restaurant, which was at the top of a sweeping spiral staircase, was charming. There was plenty of noise and that is what we like.
After being shown to our table we ordered a bottle of Prosecco and a large bottle of water. On the menu most dishes are included in their 2 courses for £14.99 offer. However, if you deviate from this, the remaining dishes are also good value for money.
For starters, my wife had Potted Shrimps and I had the Marinated Herring salad, which was delicious. For mains, we both ordered the 4 Argentine Prawns with a bowl of Fries. We do not have big appetites but if you are a big eater, there were plenty of other dishes with generous portions on the menu.
One small thing really made my wife's evening. On the dessert menu the restaurant offers home made ice cream and one flavour was 'Parma Violets' - one of my wife's favourite childhood sweets! She absolutely loved it! One portion at £2.50 was enough, but you can order more at £2.50 a scoop. Including the £23 bottle of Prosecco, the total bill was just over £60 and that was a very pleasant surprise!
We are glad we tried this restaurant and we will definitely be back! Excellent!
I booked the Sand Bar for our 3rd anniversary dinner, the reviews on Trip Advisor were good and it is local and always looked nice when I've walked past.
We were not disappointed, the service, menu and food were all excellent.
The bar downstairs gets very busy and is noisy but the restaurant upstairs was not affected and it added to the ambience.
As a vegetarian I was unsure whether to book a seafood restaurant but the vegetarian variety was excellent and the homemade ice cream was delicious and my husband loves seafood so it was perfect.
I would highly recommend a meal here and we will definitely return.
A great restaurant, good atmosphere, intimate enough and great front-of-house staff. Possibly a little too candle-lit for a friend's school reunion dinner, which was why we were there, however the food was excellent, service was fantastic and great to carry on the evening downstairs at the bar. I would highly recommend.
Starters are very large, almost the same size as the main dishes! Great vegetarian selection, really big menu and very good value especially on the set menu (which covers almost the entire a la carte, on any day of the week) you dont need to book as set menu offer, you just get the normal menu and if you order two or three courses they automatically give you the set menu price. great place, will go back soon!
Not a special occasion ... just taking mum out for lunch. Rather than a train journey to London, my daughter drove the 20 miles to Leigh. We thoroughly enjoyed the meals and the relaxed atmosphere. It was a lovely day and from our table we could see the tidal changes on the estuary.
