Sunday: 9am - 9pm
Great atmosphere, very classy, and amazing, fresh seafood... We had a wonderful evening, thank you!
delicious food and excellent value for the good quality
Visited the Sandbar with my wife whilst visiting Southend. The Food and Service were excellent and we will definitely be returning on our next trip to the area.
Sandbar never lets me down
Food is amazing 👍😁stAff very friendly
Very nice table upstairs but bit crushed in with table next to us. Food very good. Wine reasonable price. Very noisy downstairs so be warned when booking table.
Lovely restaurant, outstanding food. Loads to choose from would recommend to everyone and definitely will be going back again
food was nfine but foe ther second time in two weeks there were no oysters. Not impressed
We always come here for a catch up! Lovely food and peaceful surroundings.
Great ambience and friendly staff. Food was delicious and great value for money. This is in my top 3 of local restaurants.
A perfectly pleasant place for lunch but certainly not extraordinary. When we arrived it was buzzing downstairs but even though we had booked no table had been reserved. We were put upstairs and had a nice windows seat but were the only people up there throughout our meal despite being assured others had booked. So a tad quiet and no atmosphere. The menu was varied with lots of seafood which was the reason we selected the restaurant. It is not that clear what constitutes a starter and how the set price meal can be assembled. The physical menu itself is not a great advertisement for the restaurant - just a amateurish word document using different colours .
Our starters were very nice - my herring salad was tasty with a sharp dressing and my partner enjoyed his fishcake. We did have an issue with our main. We both ordered bouillabaisse which was advertised as containing cod, clams and prawn. I had zero cod in mine but salmon instead whilst my partner had mainly salmon with a tiny piece of cod. Salmon is considerably cheaper than cod and is questionably farmed which is an issue for my fisherman partner in particular. When raised with our waitress the response from the chef was not convincing. The fish is ordered as a mixed pack and contains so little salmon it is not worth listing on the menu.Anyhow it tasted fine but was not what it should have been. Wines selection was reasonable and complemented the meal. Waiting staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful.
Terrible food.Avoid. Cold greasy food.
Really friendly staff, we arrived early but they managed to get us table. They did forget to bring dessert for birthday like requested on opentable . If you are going for special occasion be sure to call them first to arrange surprise dessert if you like that sort of thing
Have eaten here before and never had any problems in the past but the most recent visit was a whole other story!
My friend asked what was recommended on the menu as she is gluten free so just wanted some advise from the staff, but was told by the manager that she should know her own allergies better then the staff which we found really rude.
Everyone received their drinks at the same time apart for one of our group who had to wait 10 extra minutes.
Mains didn't all arrive at the same time.
My friends partner also had a small complaint about one of the desserts and was told he can just go into the kitchen and complain to the chef (which he did as the waitress wouldn't have dealt with it).
Overall wasn't the best dining experience for my birthday!
Welcoming venue. Every time we have been to the restaurant, staff are friendly and attentive. Previously we had been for lunch which has been calm and inviting with a range of food to meet all diners needs. This time we attended on a Saturday evening. Down by the bar was vibrant and welcoming with a good atmosphere. We were seated upstairs which was quiet but fairly well attended by other diners.
The food is great value for money and well worth a visit.
Had a lovely evening, food was delicious and the mood felt very cosy and romantic. Will be going back!
Service was very slow and unorganised, food was average and waited over 10 minutes for my side dishes to go with our main course after asking for them twice. Shame
Lovely food, very large portions! Good value for money. Bar downstairs is a little noisy but this can’t be heard upstairs, overall would recommend if you’re a food lover!
Fantastic food, service and ambiance 😀😀
Very good value for money
Good food with friendly staff. Special attention was paid to my two children (2 years and 7 months respectively) with nothing too much problem for the staff. All-in-all a really pleasant dining experience
Lovely food attentive service and good value. Certainly be visiting again.
Absolute gem! Food was excellent and very reasonable considering the quality and varied menu on offer. Service was great and very friendly, whole place had a lovely atmosphere.... 2 courses including drinks came to £55.... will definitely return!
Took my daughter here for her birthday. She loved it. The 15.99 menu for 2 courses was fabulous.
Although the prices are very reasonable, the food quality was very poor. I ordered the jambalaya and I sent it back as it was extremely bland (just tasted of rice and tomatoes) and very little seafood was in there. Very disappointing but the waitresses were very attentive. I won't be going back in a hurry which is a real shame because it's a lovely local venue
Friends over from Australia and really wanted decent food in a decent restaurant and we were not disappointed. Fantastic place and the food was excellent. Waitress was superb.
I was celebrating my birthday and one of the staff made a point of acknowledging it which I thought was a very nice touch. I had the crayfish risotto - huge dish but I ate the lot as so delicious. Staff attentive but have the right balance. Would highly recommend to any of my friends and family. Great ambience!
As usual we felt very welcome. The food is tasty and good value for money.
Wonderful service so friendly. The food was superb , very decent size portions and really tasty. The restaurant is deecortated so well. A great experience throughout
Lovely food and good selection make sure you change the menu though as choice limited.
Friendly staff, good food and dog friendly!!
We were at the table under the stairs : nice view, great for people watching but chilly.
One of the best seafood meals we have eaten will 200% visit again
We have been to this restaurant a number of times and love the tables in the windows. To sit there with my husband and enjoy good food and wine is perfect - we’ll be back!
Opentable allowed me to book a table for 9.30pm. When we arrived we were told that the kitchen closed at that time - on a Saturday night! Very odd.
Good value two course offer and lots of choice . Wish they would go back to their white dinnerware though as makes it feel more fine dining .
The bar area can be off putting when dining. Would be good to separate the areas more
The whole dining experience was a pleasure, good food, good wine, great ambience and excellent service. I would recommend The Sand Bar to anyone, especially those who love their seafood dishes at not extortionate prices... :-)
Went for mid week dinner great value very nice food
The service, food and atmosphere was amazing. Great way to spend our anniversary
The food is just excellent. Specialising in fish and seafood it has never disappointed. Service is also great. It does get busy as it so popular so not for those looking for a quiet night out but it does have a good atmosphere.
Really good seafood choice both on starters and main courseds
Lovely meal. Friendly service & will defiantly be returning! Thank you
