The Sand Bar & Seafood Company
Thursday - Saturday: 9am - 1am
Sunday: 9am - 9pm
This is the 3rd time I have been to the sandbar and once again it was amazing. The food is fabulous and the atmosphere is great. We were a little late for our booking but the lovely staff saved our table and even called my friend a cab at the end of the night. Will certainly be back.
Goats cheese salads never disappoints
Love this place and the nice chilled atmosphere
Had a lovely evening with my sons. Food was good although my skate was a little overdone. Only issue was that my son left his hat behind, we went back some five minutes later and it had been given to another client. Surely the waitress knew who had been at that table?
Food was just ok, probably would not go back, not child friendly.
Lovely sea food very reasonably priced, nice atmosphere and the owner and bar staff were very hospitable. Will be returning for the crab filled sea shells delicious
Service started well, but got forgotten about half way through- ie. Took 20 minute to get a dessert menu.
For was nice but ice-cream was 2.99 per scoop which is rather expensive.
Overall it was a nice meal. I would go back but not in any rush.
On the whole I really like the athmosphere, the menu and the friendly reception. We struggled a bit with the noise level. A group of young ladies were having a great time boozing, but they were very loud and we had trouble hearing each other. This happens a lot these days unfortunately. I feel if people are so overpowering, the restaurant owner should address it.
Another fantastic meal at the Sandbar. Both food and service up to their usual high standard. Great selection of vegan dishes. Will be back sooon.
Really nice friendly bar and restaurant staff all really good and service was excellent would definitely recommend to friends and would go again
The menu is very good value but sometimes I feel there is too much choice! The crab and prawn cakes with puy lentils and the goats cheese and butternut squash salad still delicious . I stick to the things I know are nice as been disappointed before.
Great ambience upstairs .
This was our third visit and our anniversary lunch on a Saturday at 2pm. It was fairly quiet and the staff were polite and attentive. The starter of roll mops with beetroot and horseradish was very good however our main courses of seafood linguine and clam linguine lacked flavour and the sauces were watery, particularly in the clam linguine. Being reasonable cooks ourselves, both dishes are normally fairly simple to prepare and make tasty therefore we were disappointed, particularly as we had enjoyed the food here on previous visits. The ambience is always good, the prices reasonable and Leigh has plenty to offer so still worth a visit aside from these comments.
Really lovely birthday lunch - highly recommend and looking forward to our next visit
Nice local restaurant. Good choice of food and a nice atmosphere. Service was good too.
My dads 70th birthday
Excellent seafood and very friendly service. Will definitely recommend
We booked a table on opentable, only to arrive and be told there were no tables but they would see what they could do. We were told to get a drink at the bar and we would be shown to our table, we bought drinks and were then told there was no table. This all happened after the manager accused a member of my party of being drunk. We then had to stand in the rain with our drinks to finish them and couldn’t leave quick enough!!
Food was very good. Most of our group had either fish or seafood and that was both fresh and cooked as listed on the menu. Very popular so noise levels were quite high. Well worth a visit.
Second time i've been here in the last few months and still impressed. great to have a seafood focused restaurant right on our doorstep.
I spent a Saturday evening here with my family and we had a lovely meal. The restaurant was extremely busy so service a little slow and just felt the staff could have been a little more attentive. Will certainly go back though as food always to a very good standard.
First visit to the Sand Bar, was recommended by a friend and would definitely return! A varied menu and would like to return to try something else. Great for seafood lovers. I pre-booked and requested an outdoor table, was perfect for a sunny day.
Love it here.... 3rd time in under 6 months... great menu and great value for money. It was really noisy on this visit as a golf club had descended earlier but once they had gone the ambience was brilliant!!!😂
Another very good evening at the Sandbar. Great food, attentive but not pushy service in a lovely dining room. Great value for money as well. Will certainly be returning.
Great value and lovely food! V extensive menu
Fantastic vegetarian choices, very good prices and a great atmosphere. Serving staff were first class, a credit to the younger generation.
One of my favourite restaurants/bar to come back to when I visit home. Nice atmosphere and good food.
The restaurant was attractive and I liked that the tables were not too crammed in.
We sat at the bar 15 mins before our table was booked and nobody came to get us when the table was ready so we were still waiting 15 mins after our booking. The bar tender then said we should hurry up as the kitchen would close in 15 mins! We explained we were waiting to be taken upstairs to our table, he was quite rude and just repeated that “well you better hurry up”. We had overheard this male bar tender being quite unsavoury to another customer, just not very friendly and a little abrupt in our opinion!!!
The table service was good upstairs, the food was nice and good value. For us personally it lacked something, we found ourselves critiquing the food in a positive way I suppose but this is not something we’d normat find ourselves doing, an example, the scallops which were delicious could have been presented with a little more finess, all was good apart from the whole slice of bacon laid across the top-just a bit odd! I had the king prawns which were also delicious but the dish just lacked something. The sauces with all dishes were excellent!
It was a nice enjoyable experience but could have been better.
Good value but we wouldn’t rush back, sorry 😕
Staff were friendly enough, but the food was very amateurish , poorly presented and just not good enough.
Will not go again.
Friendly, helpful staff, fantastic service and excellent food. Will definitely return.
Went here for my husband's birthday celebrations with family, have had lunch before downstairs which was lovely and the dinner was just as lovely, service was good and the very friendly.overall a nice evening
Great atmosphere, very classy, and amazing, fresh seafood... We had a wonderful evening, thank you!
delicious food and excellent value for the good quality
Visited the Sandbar with my wife whilst visiting Southend. The Food and Service were excellent and we will definitely be returning on our next trip to the area.
Sandbar never lets me down
Food is amazing 👍😁stAff very friendly
Very nice table upstairs but bit crushed in with table next to us. Food very good. Wine reasonable price. Very noisy downstairs so be warned when booking table.
Lovely restaurant, outstanding food. Loads to choose from would recommend to everyone and definitely will be going back again
food was nfine but foe ther second time in two weeks there were no oysters. Not impressed
We always come here for a catch up! Lovely food and peaceful surroundings.
Great ambience and friendly staff. Food was delicious and great value for money. This is in my top 3 of local restaurants.
A perfectly pleasant place for lunch but certainly not extraordinary. When we arrived it was buzzing downstairs but even though we had booked no table had been reserved. We were put upstairs and had a nice windows seat but were the only people up there throughout our meal despite being assured others had booked. So a tad quiet and no atmosphere. The menu was varied with lots of seafood which was the reason we selected the restaurant. It is not that clear what constitutes a starter and how the set price meal can be assembled. The physical menu itself is not a great advertisement for the restaurant - just a amateurish word document using different colours .
Our starters were very nice - my herring salad was tasty with a sharp dressing and my partner enjoyed his fishcake. We did have an issue with our main. We both ordered bouillabaisse which was advertised as containing cod, clams and prawn. I had zero cod in mine but salmon instead whilst my partner had mainly salmon with a tiny piece of cod. Salmon is considerably cheaper than cod and is questionably farmed which is an issue for my fisherman partner in particular. When raised with our waitress the response from the chef was not convincing. The fish is ordered as a mixed pack and contains so little salmon it is not worth listing on the menu.Anyhow it tasted fine but was not what it should have been. Wines selection was reasonable and complemented the meal. Waiting staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful.
Terrible food.Avoid. Cold greasy food.
