The Savoy, Thames Foyer Ratings and Reviews
I took three friends to The Savoy today for afternoon tea and we had such a wonderful time. The sandwiches were delicious and plentiful, scones were warm and served with delicious clotted cream and jams and the cakes looked so beautiful and tasted delicious. The highlight for all of us was the exemplary service we received from the attentive staff who looked after us so well. From the young man who greeted us at the desk with a smile and was kind enough to take our coats to the cloakroom to the charming and attentive young ladies who made sure we had enough to eat and our cups were always full, we were so happy with the help and attention we received. I have wanted to visit The Savoy since moving to London in 1970 and my visit today did not disappoint. The building and the Thames Foyer were beautiful and added to our enjoyment. We had a wonderful afternoon and would certainly recommend it to everyone. Thanks to everyone at The Savoy for making it so special.
We had afternoon tea on Jan 14th. It was a celebration of my daughter's 30th Birthday and my mother's Christmas present. We had a fabulous time.
The waitresses were very attentive and the sandwiches and cakes were delicious.
The staff were very helpful with arranging a wheelchair for my mother (aged 94) and helping her to the table. Nothing was too much trouble.
This is the second time I've been and it didn't disappoint. Thank you for making it so special.
The Savoy is an absolute must for Londoners and visitors alike. I had high afternoon tea with one of my bestfriends that I have known for over 30 years and top it off, The Savoy presented me with a birthday cake as happy birthday was played by the pianist. We will return to the Savoy. Their hospitality is second to none!
Lovely afternoon tea experience at the Savoy for my sisters birthday. They service and staff were excellent and we had so much food we couldn't eat anymore. They kindly arranged my request for a small birthday cake and candle and a piano tribute to my sister which was .o special! Highly recommended.
Had a lovely Afternoon Tea experience. All the staff with whom we dealt were extremely polite, courteous and helpful. Daisy, in particular, made our visit very memorable - what an asset to the staff team at the Thames Foyer. Lovely food, very tasty, plenty of it, a good selection of everything and delicious rose tea options (in fact, lots of tea choices available). The decor and ambience was to our liking as was the live piano accompaniment.
We throughly enjoyed the experience. It was the first time we’d had afternoon tea at the Savoy and it didn’t disappoint. It was a special way to celebrate my birthday and very convenient for our booking at the theatre later that evening. Only downside was the cost .... but it was a special occasion.
Overall, it was a great expierence. However, I might say I was disappointed due to the fact that when I arrived at the salon on the 31st december, I was told my reservation has been cancelled (I booked to 15h30m and they said that because of a NYE partyy, the afternoon tea was served only to reservations to 14:15.) I complained about that, and in the end I could have the afternoon tea. It wasn’t perfect, because the staff started rearranging the salon to the party, but the experience was nice.
the food is of course exceptional, as is the service. As much food as you could possibly want. Every sandwich is delicious - even the cucumber! the scones are to die for and the cakes completely unique and stunning. The piano accompaniment was varied and unobtrusive but significantly added to the afternoon. Nothing is rushed and there is plenty of time to just sit and savour incredible British opulence at its best! With the automatic service charge, this is probably the most expensive afternoon tea you could buy - but for a special treat is totally worth it.
What a lovely afternoon out, having a Festive Afternoon Tea at this wonderful gem. I took my partner and my parents out for my birthday and was offered a nice piece of birthday cake accompanied by a live piano version of 'Happy Birthday'. The service was absolutely perfect and the whole experience, from being seated to leaving was one of the most relaxing things I've ever done. We stayed for cocktails afterwards as no-one wanted to leave. A beautiful restaurant in a gorgeous hotel with the friendliest of staff. Highly recommended.
A wonderful English afternoon tea, and the most delicious scones with clotted cream I've ever had. Amazing ambience with a live pianist and brilliant service. Will definitely go there again, especially for a romantic date or a get-together with girlfriends.
