Was an excellent experience with good food attentive staff looking after your needs.
Would highly recommend, perhaps not for every day dining but definitely for a special occasion.
This is the second time I have been to the Savoy but the first for afternoon tea. It was a lovely experience and the food and service was superb - everyone should go to the Savoy once.
We went for afternoon tea for our 49th wedding anniversary. The food was amazing, the staff were very friendly and helpful but not pushy. The pianist played a wide variety of music to suit all tastes.
A brilliant way to celebrate any occasion.
The location and ambience could not have been better for a family celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary. We greatly appreciated the spacing of the tables so that other customers did not intrude upon us. The live piano was at just the right level - in the background but not intrusive - and so much better than piped music.
As for the sandwiches and cakes they exceeded expectations - we could not imagine better.
Our Afternoon Tea at The Savoy exceeded all expectations. Fabulous food, fabulous surroundings and fabulous staff!
Staff are amazing, very tentative. They made us feel extremely special and went above and beyond expectations. We would definitely visit again.
Fantastic high tea at the Thames foyer. Very attentive service, and surprise birthday cake candle and card as well as a live piano played happy birthday sing by waiter too very unexpected. Got us through the 3 courses (due to different types of high tea) with only 1hr 20mins before whizzing off to the theatre next door. Would highly recommend to anyone. The Deutz pink champagne was delicious and the room is beautiful and spacious.
We had afternoon tea which was a birthday treat for my partner, she loved it, she was in tears when the pianist played happy birthday and she was brought a small birthday cake, was a surprise to us both, it's the small things........its The Savoy
The food, the service and the ambience were great but there is one big flaw in the management. To my horror and disbelief, they allowed a Westerner with a neck less T shirt, a pair of shorts and worst of all flip flops to dine at the restaurant during high tea. I put on my best attire appropriate to the reputation of the restaurant by wearing a jacket and tie and I was hoping that other patrons would behave the same. Alas, it were not to be and I think the management has a duty to advise the offending patrons that they needed to adhere strictly to the dress code, if it had one!
It was a surprise treat for my wife, for our wedding anniversary. The timing (17.45) was perfect for afternoon tea prior to watching a show.
Thank you to all the waiting staff, you are the people at the coal face, you either make or break a lovely experience. You certainly gave us a lovel experience.
This was a ‘thank you’ meal for a couple of my friends and I wanted to take them out somewhere special in London. We had a pleasant afternoon tea in the beautiful and unique ambiance of the Thames Foyer at the Savoy. The seats were exceedingly comfortable, the pianist provided subtle background entertainment and the cakes were delicious. However, I had a couple of issues:
1. One of my friends has a severe allergy to garlic and raw onions. We alerted the staff about this before ordering. My friend was given half of the selection of sandwiches that the rest of us got. All of her sandwiches were on white bread. When she saw that we were eating roast beef with mustard on seeded granary bread, she asked if the chef could make up a sandwich like that for her. The waitress was obliging enough and said she would ask the chef but returned to tell us that it was not possible for the kitchens to provide a made-to-order sandwich. We were disappointed by this attitude. When you are paying £85 per person for afternoon tea, it seems rather churlish to refuse to prepare a simple sandwich.
2. The tea was often cold and/or stewed. We had to ask for our cups to be replenished repeatedly. The waitress was abliging enough but I would have thought that an afternoon tea venue would have got this right from the start, especially at the price charged. Leaving the pots of tea on the table rather than serving from a sidetable might get around the problem.
Overall, we enjoyed ourselves but I won’t be bringing my friends here again as it is poor value for money.
Amazing experience - great food, exceptional service and wonderful music while we sat back and enjoyed our catch up. Importantly, we were not rushed to vacate our table for the next sitting which made us feel we were valued guests.
My mum was absolutely happy with everything. I had been back in May as I was visiting from Toronto. It felt just so relaxing abs magical.
Everything was so magical. My mother and I traveled from the US and we were searching for a special tea experience which we surely enjoyed at The Savoy. What made it especially memorable was our server, Byron. He made helpful suggestions regarding teas, the menu, and treated us with much respect. We so enjoyed the pace of our tea; we never felt rushed and it will be an experience we will value forever.
Service, Food...was Bad.
It's my second time in Savoy. Two years ago in the Christmas time time was really great. Everything was perfect. This time was for me not enough good. It's very, vety pity.
The perfect English tea experience! Lovely from beginning to end!
Really enjoyed the attentive staff, live music and food was wonderful. Must go!
Beautiful surroundings and scrumptious food! Service was amazing! Loved it!!
Great staff, great ambiance, and wonderful experience! The tea, champagne and savory dishes were delicious!
Can't say anything bad about the Savoy Hotel it's the 1st time we have ever been in there it was my partners birthday and a special day we was greeted with very helpful and polite young ladies we was shown to our table which was perfect the piano was delightful wasn't to loud but you could hear it and still able to talk the lady servicing us explained everything about the cream tea what was in the sandwiches and then done the same when the cakes come we had a lovely glass of champagne to start they was there every time out tea cups were empty they couldn't do enough for us they were all friendly .polite and helpful and to top it all off there brought my partner a piece of birthday cake and card that made him feel very special there was no rush at all great experience Thank you
Amazing food, service and surroundings. We were made to feel special from the moment we arrived and the Savoy's reputation for a superb afternoon tea experiences is well deserved.
Service was excellent the cakes were not that great, far too sickly but overall a good wxperience
The presentation was superb and the staff very welcoming. The piano music, nice but too loud for our table
Exceptional on every level! Old style, utterly professional service (with warmth). Fantastic food...space to chat without overhearing everyone's conversation. A complete winner!
The service was poor, we were never once asked if we needed more of anything, yet we could see other tables we being offered more sandwiches. Our scones came with one jam and two lemon curd bowls which we found out later that one was supposed to be clotted cream. The waiter did not speak very good English so was hard to understand.
When it came to paying the bill he hurried us along as he said he needed the table. We felt pushed out with his manner when he could have politely suggested we could retire to the bar area. As this was our first visit to this hotel we not aware or advised of where we could sit and relax before entering the theatre for the evening show. We had my 84 year old mother with us and we had to leave the hotel and walk her to a coffee shop as we felt unwelcome.
Very disappointed as we chose the Savoy Hotel because the theatre was attached as we had our disabled Mum who cannot walk without a stick.
Had afternoon tea for my sisters 60th birthday. It was an amazing experience made very special by excellent service and staff
The pinnacle of Afternoon Tea in London.
The service and atmosphere were wonderful. A pianist provided live music. All around a wonderful experience created by an attentive staff.
High tea at the Savoy was the perfect experience to celebrate a mother/daughter trip to London! Excellent service!
I took my partner here for a surprise Birthday treat and she loved it. The staff were very attentive and very happy to help out with photos so that we could record the occasion. They marked her Birthday with a Birthday Cake and the pianist played Happy Birthday momentarily - a lovely little surprise.
The food was amazing and the ambiance exactly what you would hope for. All in all a perfect Birthday treat!
Great staff in a lovely environment with a pianist playing while you eat amazing tartlets, sandwiches and scones. What could be better.
Exceptional service and a beautiful atmosphere.
The food was delicious, as ever, but the service left much to be desired. I had to refill our teacups on several occasions, and our hot water was never replenished. We were left with used dishes on the table for quite a while, and it took far too long to receive and pay the bill. I can enjoy a cheaper tea at many other restaurants; I have always chosen the Savoy because of its excellent service. On this evidence, standards have slipped.
Very enjoyable afternoon. Outstanding service and atmosphere with delicious tea and food. Highly recommend the glass of champagne.
Brilliant on all counts . It was my birthday and it was made very special. All 4 of us really enjoyed it .
Our favourite venue for Afternoon Tea. Excellent food and service. Thank you.
My friend and I went for afternoon tea as a joint birthday treat. The service we received was impeccable throughout, without feeling stuffy. A few other customers were also celebrating birthdays and we all enjoyed a 'happy birthday' tune on the piano, along with extra cake and candles, and birthday cards. So thoughtful.
We couldn't finish our cakes and were asked if we'd like to take them home. Two lovely boxes arrived with not only our leftovers, but extra little cakes as well. We were very touched by this and I was happy to share a little bit of my lovely day with my family when I got home. Thank you again, very much!
Great ambience, great food!
Great and polite service, very attentive service, our tea cups were never empty! Good gluten and dairy free options. Would have been great to have dairy free butter in sandwiches and for scones. Very relaxed atmosphere and did not feel rushed at all. Would do it again anytime!
The Afternoon Tea was a belated 70th Birthday present. It was certainly worth the wait. It was an amazing experience..Really hope to come again
