The Savoy, Thames Foyer
Guests can also indulge in Afternoon Tea in this comfortable and intimate spot accompanied by the hotel's resident pianist. Afternoon Tea at The Savoy is an enduring custom where guests can choose from a range of teas served with finger sandwiches, homemade scones with clotted cream & jam and a mouthwatering selection of cakes and pastries.
Afternoon Tea starts from £60.00 per person.
Afternoon Tea in the Thames Foyer as a post Xmas present for our parents.
Beautiful surroundings, fantastic service, the pianist kept us entertained for the whole time we were there and the afternoon tea was delicious...
A perfect treat for a Sunday afternoon in style....
I thoroughly enjoyed the high tea experience and would highly recommend this to anyone.
A wonderful afternoon tea with only a couple of minor improvements (for me personally!)
The piano was wonderful but why mic it?
I prefer to pour my own tea instead of waiting to be waited.
It is very pricey which is obviously expected but I've been to many other teas of the same standard for slightly less!
High points- scones, mushroom tartlets, apple things!
Had to wait 20min for a table, even though we turned up in time for our reservation while other people who turned up later were seated immediately. Lack of silverware on the table, had to ask for a teaspoon. Had to ask twice for cream before it arrived, had to ask twice for a glass of water before it arrived. Minor issues but expected a faultless service given the venue and price tag
Amazing experience. Booked Afternoon Tea for 2 people to celebrate 50th birthday. Exceptional staff, beautiful food, more good than we could eat. Extra was taken away in special take away parcel. Dietary requirements were met with plenty of choices for non dietary needs. As it was a birthday celebration, a cake with candles bad a hand written card was brought to the table along with piano music. Even though I did not request the cake. Amazing.
Afternoon tea/high tea - unfortunately they muddled up our dietary requirements and gave us both the same food even though our needs were very different. My husband was not impressed with his sandwiches being made with tofu and vegan cheese on gluten free bread when he was really looking forward to egg and normal cheese on normal bread. I was looking forward to smoked salmon sandwiches but sadly there weren't any served. My husband's foie gras was served after the sweet pastries instead of before and despite informing them we were restricted in time as we were pre-theatre, the service was very slow.
Breakfast - I ordered GF granola and we both ordered one cooked option each. The staff were polite and tried hard but the service was very slow, an hour and three quarters from start to finish. I was offered a GF blueberry muffin which took over an hour to arrive. The waiter poured my tea from the right side but stretched across my husband to pour his, instead of walking around to his right side. I can only assume they were going through a period of training and recruiting new staff. The food was delicious when it arrived though. It just meant we had to get the taxi straight to the station rather than have time to explore locally before returning home.
Birthday cake - my husband was offered a complimentary cake which I thanked them for and asked if they could avoid chocolate (it gives him migraine) but unfortunately they served a chocolate one. It looked beautiful but unfortunately remained untouched by us.
The atmosphere was lovely and the food was well presented but just a few things they needed to address.
I felt the service was not the standard I have had before. There was what looked like a small fly in the milk.
Small friendly restaurant. Sandwiches were delicious but the cakes were slightly bland.
Great atmosphere for my birthday celebration in the company of my lovely wife. We shall definitely return, as the food was delicious!
Lovely Afternoon Tea for my daughters birthday.
Fantastic service, beautiful place.
Our waitress Daisy was a delight.
Everyone must experience afternoon tea at the Savoy.
Beautiful flowers and decor. Staff were all very pleasant and very attentive. We appreciated that afternoon tea was not hurried . We felt we had all the time in the world to savour the experience
The whole Afternoon Tea experience was incredible. Since the moment we arrived, the whole atmosphere felt really special. The Savoy is beautiful and the staff is super friendly and nice. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. I wish they had a cook book for sale so I could recreate some of their delicious food back in Mexico! There's live piano music while you have your afternoon tea, which started with a great glass of champagne. We had one of the most memorable afternoons of our trip and it was a really nice way to say good bye to London.
Beautiful afternoon team at the Thames Foyer. Wonderful pianist, lovely attentive staff and a very enjoyable atmosphere. The food and drink were - overall - very good. HIghlights were the champagne, great tea selection and beautiful sandwiches. Scones were very night. Cakes were decidedly average overall, which was slightly disappointing (the cakes at Fortnum & Mason win hands down!), but overall it was a wonderful experience and we thoroughly enjoyed our unhurried, relaxed 2.5 hours at The Savoy.
Wonderful afternoon tea with friends , excellent gluten free . Lovely viriety of teas . What a wonderful special place . Highly recommend
Perfect for a vegan tea. Scones were amazing with vegan cream!!! Wonderful
This was our first visit to the Thames Foyer for afternoon tea to celebrate my wife's Birthday. The occasion fully met expectations, helped greatly by the excellent service we received from 'Daisy'. Do pass on a special thank you to her.
The pianist also deserves recognition for making the afternoon so pleasurable.
Generally, a thank you to all the staff.
Perfect birthday breakfast with my husband, the savoy is my favourite for breakfast in London .. it does look tired now so needs refreshing and updating in the breakfast room
But food doesn’t disappoint and service is amazing as good as the ritz but not as special as the mandarin
It was disappointing that the festive tea was served without the festive decorations, with them having been taken down the day before. It would be advisable to stop the festive tea and take down the festive decorations at the same time to avoid patrons being bitterly disappointed for what had been a much looked forward to special occasion.
Wonderful experience in a fantastic setting with excellent service. Would definitely recommend.
excellent venue to celebrate and enjoy the moment at the famous Savoy
We booked for the Festive Afternoon Tea and requested the fish and Vegetarian sandwich range as opposed to the meat.
The selection of sandwiches was too die for! Wonderful scones and stunning cakes and patisseries. So pleased we came here as opposed to The Ritz !
We simply could not finish anymore so the remains of the stand ( see photo!) was put in a box for us to enjoy at our leisure .
It was our last day in London, and the perfect way to celebrate. The food was wonderful, especially the tea sandwiches and the service was elegant and friendly. We all felt so well taken care of and we had a very happy time.
Visiting London and wanted a classic afternoon tea. The Thames Foyer didn’t disappoint. Mathew our server was lovely.
The most beautiful tea served by the best staff.
I ordered the traditional afternoon tea with the peony and rose white tea. Everything was fabulous.
Second time we have been for afternoon tea and scones. The hotel is fantastic and if I ever win the lottery I will definitely book in for a night
Loved the afternoon tea experience. Loved everything except for the scones, rather dry. Service was impeccable. Atmosphere was relaxing, quiet, yet classy. Highly recommend The Savoy for tea!
Slow but good SERVICE, lovely ambience
Special Tea time in London while on family vacation
We had a very enjoyable afternoon tea , pianist was superb and the hotel was extra special as it was the xmas week
We would definitely recommend to others
As me and my boyfriend were celebrating our 2nd Anniversary, I booked us the Afternoon Tea at the Thames Foyer in the Savoy. From the moment we stepped inside, everything was perfect. The Christmassy entrance, the welcoming team, and the faultless service made the experience completely memorable. Couldn't recommend more highly.
Beautiful setting and excellent service. Only thing I would say is I think 1hr 45 is too short as there were moments we felt a little rushed.
This was a Christmas outing. We enjoyed the visit, but had to wait 10 minutes for our table and then I had to ask what was happening, seemed fairly chaotic.
But The Savoy has its own charm which is why I chose the venue.
You get your money's worth here. Definitely recommend to anyone traveling and looking for a great way to spend an afternoon.
Great food, great service, amazing history, superb atmosphere and outstanding band.
I scheduled afternoon tea on Christmas. It was my very first afternoon tea ever. I don’t really know what my expectations were, but the Savoy is expensive and I decided to splurge for a special day. I wish I hadn’t. The food was good, but our service was the worst. We saw our server 3 times total. I could go on and on. Was it because we didn’t order champagne so our bill was only £300 instead of £500? I’ve always wanted to experience a proper hotel afternoon tea and this is NOT the place if that’s what you’re looking for.
We love afternoon teas so we are quite picky about them but the Savoy was an amazing experience in a very festive atmosphere. The staff was extremely nice and helpful and the food was very original while delicious. The egg and truffle was amazing and so was the shrimps marinated in champagne. We had two servings of each sandwich. The turkey mini tart was to die for. On the sweet side, the chestnut cake and the scones were winners. The live piano in the carrousel was a plus. We’ll come back!
We had a wonderful afternoon and were beautifully looked after by the staff who could not have done more. Our favourite place for afternoon. Thank you to the Savoy for such a special day.
