Absolutely amazing fish and chips!! The calamari was delicious, very tender, not rubbery as some restaurants tend to serve up. Our waitress was so nice, very attentive and on the ball. If she didn’t know something, she went away and asked !
I had the grilled cod which was amazing, my friends had the battered cod which was devoured and the chips were just yummy. They did forget the cup of tea my friend ordered but think she was OK with her wine lol. Slightly pricey than your local fish and chip shop but you are in Marylebone and the restaurant, ambiance is amazing.
Will definitely be back next time we are up town and highly recommend
I was incredibly impressed by the friendliness of the staff. They were all helpful, polite and respectful. The food was superb, fresh and delicious. I will definitely recommend 'The Seashell ' and look forward to another visit in the, not to distant future.
The food, staff and restaurant were outstanding. Really enjoyed out visit and will return without a doubt.
Service was great, waitress was very attentive. Food was good, wish there was more variety! Known for their fresh fish and chips, but wanted to try something else.
Fabulous food! Only reason for mediocre service review was the lack of staff at the restaurant. This is a problem with all dining establishments since Covid.
My family had a delicious fish lunch. Service was friendly and efficient.
An enjoyable time was had by all.
Nice, clean food.
Great fish and chips
The Scottish salmon was, truly, the best I’ve ever had and, as an American, I have had salmon quite frequently not only here in California, but, especially, in Portland and Seattle. The Scottish salmon at this restaurant was the best.
Quality food well prepared and presented, excellent service. Surprised the restaurant was so quiet for a Friday lunchtime.
Staff are very attentive and delivered a first class service. A huge shout out to the Chef who made us an absolutely Delish lunch. Faultless
That rare thing. Crisp batter, fresh flakey haddock and perfect chips for my wife and 450gms of superb Dover sole. Only the weak tea had nul points but they brought us another one with extra tea bags and didn't charge us at all for the tea. Another rare thing: service charge not added but left up to us. Cheerful, friendly service with a smile and joke.
Many years ago I have been to this restaurant, it was lovely. This time I invited friends, I was surprised it became smaller with only one floor.
Good fish and chips, very friendly waitress and nice ambiance.
Only the floor waa very sticky, needed some cleaning
Delicious high quality fish and chips x was our 4 th visit .., whenever we in London we try to go x
I arrived about 10 minutes early for a 7pm booking. The restaurant was only about half full, and yet the 2 people serving were literally running around, and were therefore not very attentive when I arrived. But when I did catch their eye they were very friendly and efficient. We had a bottle of Chardonnay which was not much below room temperature, but tasted really good. The food, as ever, was very good - we had grilled cod and battered haddock, with some lovely breaded cauliflower florettes and excellent chips. The decor is a bit tired these days, but still welcoming and clean. We loved the giant Octopus! Overall very enjoyable.
Since our last visit 2 years ago, SeaShell has lost something. We dont know whether that is due to the "Covid impact", post pandemic legacy, new ownership, or what, but we would encourage Seashells to regain its former glory. Where once we ecstatically endorsed Seashell we cant right now. Having frequented this place for nearly 20 years, it was somewhere we always looked forward to visiting on trips to London. We will give it another chance on our next visit but there had better be a return to what we were used to, otherwise that will be the last time. And put Spotted Dick back on the menu!!
Great place with great taste of food, nice and helpful staff.
Vanessa was excellent. She made my friends and I feel very welcome.
We have known the Seashell for 40 years now and have witnessed with delight it’s transformation into the present elegant restaurant and bar, and traditional takeaway .
The food is always fresh and delicious and the staff pleasant and efficient. There are additions and changes to the menu and wine list from time to time, but you will never be disappointed with the matchless crispy cod/haddock, wonderful chips, and mushy peas.
Not only a ‘plaice’ to go on a Friday night but also a great venu for a special occasion. Enjoy!
Service very good, sad to see reduced wine & pudding choices since last visit.
Unfortunately not too many other customers. Rather noisy.
Fish & chips upto usual standard.
I took an elderly American friend to eat what I believe to be the best fish and chip supper in London. We both spent a terrific evening with unsurpassed meals (intimidatingly huge portions), even swapping pleasantries with adjacent tables.
We love that we feel so welcomed at the restaurant.
Very casual, but the fish and ships are amazing!
Food was very good service was great nice resturant we will.go back
Very nice food, good restaurant
Best fish in town. Fantastic cooking of great fresh fish. Generous portions particularly grilled sea bass. Wonderful ambiance , decoration and tropical aquarium really striking.
I booked dinner for a group of 5 for dinner at 6pm. We arrived to an unwelcoming and noisy restaurant.
1. There were only two waiters to look after the entire restaurant. The lady waitress, to give her credit was polite and tried her best. The other waiter seemed to be angry, unhelpful and at time could be heard shouting, banging plates and constantly complaining about the kitchen staff.
2. Food arrived at different time and one of the dishes was forgotten.
3. Food bland and overpriced.
4. No hand sanitiser on the table.
5. The restaurant was playing loud music which I asked to be turned down on at least 2 occasions because we could hardly hear ourselves speak let alone think. If we amongst other guest wanted to listen to Micheal Jackson, Whitney Houston, house beat music we would have visited a club not a restaurant.
Avoid at all costs. It use to be a good restaurant many years ago but has sadly lost the plot.
We are very sorry you were not happy with your experience. We will look into the issue with music you raised and we appreciate the time you have taken to share your review
Stunning bar with huge octopus sculpture, no fuss fish & chips, my cod & the mother in law’s haddock were fresh, flaky and tender with batter and chips just like your local chippie. Warm attentive waitress. Sadly we were among only 2 other dining parties, in a very quiet room. Hopefully their takeaway thrives while business picks up again.
Awesome fish and chips and nice relaxed atmosphere
A classy Fish Restaurant that oozes style . Nice varied menu of starters & mains . The highlight of the starters are without doubt the garlic prawns, as for the mains the Cod was lovely and fresh & cooked to perfection. The chips were really good as well especially when dipped into the delicious curry sauce.
The service was very good and very friendly. The reputation that seashell has for being one of the top Fish Restaurants in London is well deserved .
Excellent fish and chips with friendly and efficient service, still quieter than would be expected for a Friday night but that was probably due to the Bank Holiday weekend, will definitely return
This is a fish and chip shop but the nicest i have ever been in. Lovely batter on the cod and delicious chips
Good to see the Seashell continuing to thrive. I think prices have gone up but as like most businesses they are probably in recovery mode after covid that’s understandable. As loyal customers we can’t fault them really. Would be nice to see the place busier on a Saturday night so hope more people will return in the coming weeks. Highly recommended.
Ladies were very helpful, there were 4 of us with fish & chips or scampi and chips
This restaurant has so much character – the giant squid curving round the bar is a great touch. The food was excellent too.
Lovely food and great service. I did also notice that the gentleman on the table next to me was blind and the level of service and care he was given by the staff was exemplary.
Fabulous fish & chip, batter so light & not greasy. Bottomless CHIPS !!!
It's been nearly 5 years since we last visited but I am pleased to say that the standard of food has not dropped. We had haddock and chips, the batter as light and crispy as I remember it, no grease in sight. The fish was beautiful and flaky. Chips (which are bottomless) were cooked to perfection. Staff were friendly and helpful. So glad we were able to visit again, well done.
Always top notch. Delicious ! Fab service too. We will be back !
Thank you for such a great review, we look forward to welcoming you back soon!
