About The Seashell of Lisson Grove
Marylebone restaurant The Seashell of Lisson Grove promises to fulfill the fish and chips dreams of any discerning London diner. This fabulous kitchen, according to food critic Alain Ducasse serves up ‘the best fish and chips in London’, which really is saying quite something in this old chip-happy town. The differences between The Seashell of Lisson Grove and your usual neighbourhood F&C peddler are too many and varied to list here but let’s begin with the décor; a superb combination of comfort and style, the space appropriately relaxed but still quite refined enough for special dinners or business lunching. Then of course there’s the location, in chichi Marylebone, close to the West End and London’s many sights and shops but still with the feel of a local restaurant.

The Seashell of Lisson Grove Ratings and Reviews
Our last visit coincided with an equipment crisis in the kitchen but this time everything was back to normal. The fish we ordered, rock salmon, was grilled to perfection and the accompanying chips/salad equally delicious. The waiters were efficient and friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant, although quite full, was relaxing.
Service very friendly. The food - outstanding. Delicious piece of cod. Light, crispy batter. Very reasonably priced wine list. It would have been nice to sit near the aquarium but clearly a popular spot on a Friday night. The restaurant is very brightly lit - the only thing I could possibly comment on. Otherwise nearly top marks. I'm going back this Friday!
We have been coming to the Sea Shell in Lisson Grove for more than thirty years and every time they never fail to excell with the freshness of their fish and the food generally. We dine with confidence and anticipation of the good service and excellent food, we believe the 'Best in Town'
Well done and thank you,
If you want fish and chips, this is the place!! My husband had a salmon fillet which he said was cooked beautifully. I had battered cod- so light!! After the meal you don't feel stodgy like you do after some fish n chip meals!! Have visited a few times previously and the food is consistently spot on!
The Seashell serves fish of outstanding quality. The menu offers a wide variety of fish cooked as the diner wishes as well as specialities such as fish pie. We were all impressed with the excellent presentation of the dishes. The wine list is extensive with some original vintages at reasonable prices. The service is excellent, discreet, friendly, unhurried and genuine. Please note that service is not included in the final bill and gratuities cannot be added to this on credit or debit cards so please ensure you have enough for this. It is well deserved. An excellent fish restaurant in all respects.
I have been going to the seashell with my family since I was a little girl. The ambience and the amazing good always brings back amazing waves of nostalgia! Now that I am older I have brought all my friends, my partner and they all rave of how amazing the food is. The best fish you'll find in london, and the staff make every plate you get that much new special.
The food was absolutely fantastic. We went back the next day, because the popcorn cod was that good! The only thing I'd say is that the take-away side of the restaurant is a bit hectic. We ate in the restaurant part the first time, which was excellent. The second time we got take-away, and it wasn't such a great experience. The food was still excellent, but they ran out of coleslaw, and the server was very scatterbrained. Still, absolutely excellent fish and chips!
To get a really fresh piece of fish, cooked to a turn, there's few places more dependable than the Sea Shell. I've been coming since it was a little place down the road. I was worried when it moved up the road and into a bigger place that standards might drop, but it hasn't and I look forward to coming again and again. This last time was with some Koreans who had had 'some fish and chips' before. Their verdict was that it was simply delicious.
