Food for our party of 4 was varied- from a really excellent dolcelatte chicken with chorizo risotto main course, to very tough lamb and mediocre desserts. Disappointed with gin selection- it used to be excellent, but if you don’t like flavoured gins, there was only a couple of choices. Good selection of draft beers. Very pleasant atmosphere.

Food was good. Deserts way overpriced. Noise level from one group was ridiculous. Management please note: you can ask people to quiet down. I appreciate they were celebrating a birthday, but there are other diners present that wanted a nice meal and a chat, meal was nice but chat was difficult.

What a lovely country pub. The interior was such a surprise - restaurant was decorated like a Tudor banqueting hall - very grand. The staff were very friendly and helpful and attentive enough for us to feel well looked after. The food was freshly cooked, with good quality ingredients, served hot and tasted delicious. Overall, an excellent experience which everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you to all involved :-)

Cold food, no condiments, dry food, tables being moved round in preparation for the next days arrangements, over priced, ran out of food we ordered on the menu. Main course came out 1 min after finishing starters. Poor overall . Bread not toasted for pate dish. No butter. Awful . Would not recommend

Duck rolls and sticky chicken bites went down very well and the American beef burger was loved for the teenagers in the group

Food was beautiful however I did have the rack of lamb but I politely asked the waitress if I could send it back as it was too tough. This was not a problem at all she was great and reassured me she would sort this out. I never usually complain but I couldn’t chew the lamb at all. I had a fresh plate of food which was amazing and I would definitely recommend and order again. The staff were wonderful at making me feel at ease about sending my food back. They were very professional and very apologetic throughout our time here. My partner loved his food to he had the pork belly. We will definitely return. Absolutely fantastic food!

Yet again the Shrew exceeded our expectation.

The food was fantastic cooked as ordered and well presented.

The mix of high quality produce and attention to detail in the preparation of the dishes is a winner.

The menu is balanced and innovative with some real crowd pleasers I must try the chateaubriand next time looked amazing!

Anyone looking for something special above the chain eateries our there give the Shrew a go you won’t regret it.

Very disappointed with my meal, I was expecting black pudding crumble for starters, was just slices of black pudding.

Overall not a place I would visit again.

Bar staff ( youngish girl) not very friendly

Totally disappointed

It was a birthday treat for my wife.

Sorry

This was our first visit and it will not be our last. Food quality was lovely, good offer on steak night which included a really nice bottle of white wine. Food served on hot plates which is a must for my husband, he cannot stand food served on cold plates, staff were attentive but not intrusive, we would have loved a bit of piano music in the background but this may not have been the case due to the night we attended. We will certainly be back, thank you.

A long time since we've been back here, we were not disappointed, food was amazing, varied menu, good value, gorgeous grand surroundings as ever, polite and attentive staff, the only issue was a large (loud) party with disco going on really spoilt the atmosphere/ambience, bit loud, bit too much!perhaps a function room would have suited them better?

We had been given a voucher for a gift and thought we would have a treat. What a disappointment. Roast beef was one thin slice that looked as though it came from A deli counter warned up with gravy. Pork also was not freshly cooked. We waited 30 minutes from when we ordered the dessert until it finally came. We had one small wine and a pint of beer. We had a bill for 48.60 a total rip off. We could have had two meals for that price elsewhere and far better quality.

Externally the Shrewsbury Arms is great looking building. Retaining a lot of the external original features, it also extends to the inside. It’s character, real fires, friendly staff and good food all make for a relaxing and enjoyable visit. Ideal for most occasions, be it celebrating, eating or simply for a quiet drink. It offers something for all. It also has a nice outdoor garden area, with heaters for the winter months.

We was early by 15 mins and our table was ready which was great ... my sons choice of main had run out not only once but his second choice too , he had to pick 3 meals ... our Sunday platter was nice but there was no cranberry available then when I asked for apple sauce it was definitely the left overs from another table .. meal was nice but a bit disappointed for not been offered any thing for all the things which was not available...
will give it the benefit of the doubt & try again .. it was also very noisy with load children

The food was excellent and the establishment a pleasure to be in. Staff were warm and friendly but a couple of let downs in the fact that the condiments fell apart in our hands and they got our dessert order wrong. Otherwise, a most pleasant experience and we will be going again in the future.
