Overall 1food service ambience

We came for a birthday celebration and were assigned to table in the back where they also serve food. We were about eight people and all had drinks when a man with a strong French accent referring to himself as the manager, said we had to leave the table. He said it was reserved and the guests would come soon and we responded that that was fine as we were heading elsewhere shortly. He did not accept that for an answer and he kept repeating that we had to leave in the next 20 minutes. The whole thing escalated and at one point, he was shouting at us – threatening to kick us out. He was rude and the whole group felt it was a very was very unpleasant experience. Definitely, not something you would expect in a service establishment. We finished our drinks and paid but by the time we left, the guests had not yet arrived. I would not recommend this place unless you are up for a public shaming from the manager. Shame since the waiters were friendly and helpful and drinks were nice.

Really unpleasant experience. Booked a table for 22.30pm to dine, was told on arrival that the kitchen closes soon so we had to be quick to make a choice. Felt pressured to pick the sharing menu, which was overpriced and nothing special. Cocktails are also extremely overpriced for mainly just large chunks of ice, all the pretentious bells and whistles but not as good as you'd expect for £12 a time.
The waitress was lovely but given the overall experience we didn't tip, the service charge was enough on top of the already ridiculous bill. Won't be going back.

Wanted to try something different for a girls night out and this cosy spot more than provided ! Staff couldn't be more helpful navigating the amazing & extensive cocktail menu. The sharing menu was fantastic and we couldn't finish all 3 courses between us. Definitely a find!

As always, I had a wonderful time at Shrub and Shutter! It is my favourite place to go in London for a cocktail as they're all amazing no matter which one you choose! However this time I went for the food... AMAZING! Loved every second and the service as always was great! Can't believe they can cook such tasty dishes in such a tiny kitchen!
I'll always be back for cocktails but definitely the food too!
Thank you Shrub and Shutter!

Lively and cosy restaurant, with good food and cocktails. We went while Tem Ban Thai pop-up were in residence and the food was great - particularly recommend the aubergine. Cocktail menu was good and not just the standards. Fairly noisy with the sounds of guests enjoying themselves :)

The cocktails we had were really tasty, and so was the food! It is a very small restaurant and quite loud. Good service, cocktails can take a while to come but that's expected. The food is fresh and interesting. The bill can add up if you're drinking cocktails, we spent £95 for 2 of us and we shared 2 nibbles, 2 small plates, 1 big plate, 2 desserts and 4 cocktails.

Cocktails awesome as ever but food wasn't as good - way too heavy on the chilli and vinegar for the salads and had to send back the undercooked chicken. For such good cocktails I'd prefer more nuanced food to match

Sadly we found Shrub and Shutter to be very disappointing - the cocktail menu is unnecessarily fussy (one of the cocktails we had, Pining for the Fjords, has an aftertaste that was reminiscent of a car air freshener) and the food was really poor: The steamed chicken in particular was pretty painfully undercooked.

I liked this little place. Cocktails were delicious and so was the food. The only thing I did not like was being warned that the table is needed back 40 min! before the due time. We were aware that we had the table was for two hours and didn't need to reminded of it three times.

Amazing food - Tem Ban pop up served the most amazing thai food I have ever tried - we tried everything on the menu and couldn't fault one thing - the venison and the bettle leaves were incredible. Cocktails never fail to impress. All round very creative menu (both food and drink) and great low key atmosphere.

Service can be slow, and it can get very busy, but the cocktails are easily some of the best in London. The Thai pop-up was great if a bit pricey compared to local alternatives (Begging Bowl, Kao Sarn).

We have been to this restaurant each month for seven months as it was where we had our first date. Each time we've been it has been a truly wonderful experience, worth the cost (~£100 for two). However, this time it was far worse: the chef has changed, beyond their control admittedly, but the replacement fairly average Vietnamese inspired food is far below the quality we had come to expect. Additionally, the system forgot our order leaving us to wait an hour for our food. Finally the maitre d' offered us *free* drinks (the cocktails have also reduced in quality) to apologise. However, a knock down price was charged on the bill for these drinks which we wouldn't have ordered if they weren't free. Sadly it seems we'll have to find a new restaurant for our anniversary. We won't be going back.

The main reason for this visit was a celebration of colleagues so our concentration was on the cocktails. These were fantastic and topical. Ask if you do not like anything too sweet and the barman will make changes depending on your likes and dislikes. The food was to go with cocktails. The belly pork was wonderful melt in the mouth stuff and the hot sauce was hot for the pork crackling. We even liked their rice cakes. So if you want an interesting drink with food then this is the place - hidden away in Brixton.

The Tem Ban pop-up restaurant is nothing short of amazing. The food was absolutely delicious, and was what made the evening.
The service was a bit slow at the start (there was a huge group booking there too) but once we got our food order in, it was absolutely perfect timing. We didn't get rushed off of our table and the staff are so friendly and helpful.
Drinks are expensive, if you're only drinking cocktails, but they are very tasty and look like art.
