The Square Pig
Juxtaposing the industrial and the delicate we are an eclectic mix of long lunching tables, comfy cosy corners or private areas for drinks with collages and friends.
Our chefs prepare all our dishes fresh in house with the very best seasonal produce. We’ve also put together a collection of our favourite British dishes into tapas style to enjoy 2 or 3 choices at a time. We have a myriad of new and exciting drinks, organic and biodynamic wines, locally produced beer and a wide range of soft drinks for those off the booze.
Music too loud to be able to have conversations.
Really enjoy it here and food was great! Thanks so much.
Good little spot
Unfortunately we had a bad experience for lunch. The service was really slow, they messed up our orders and the food was disappointing. I would not come
Emailed various times by Square Pig about table confirmation and food orders; I replied saying that we may have food on the day however on the night we were told that due to a party downstairs, no food would be available. Very disappointing as we were all starving! Table also reserved for 10 but had to ask for more chairs as only 7 chairs were at the table! Otherwise a good night, with no other issues!
Arrived with our group of 6 to be told that they weren't accepting online bookings and the had no table for us. Appalling customer service and restaurant management. Book at your peril!
didn't even have a table booked when we turned up.
Very enjoyable experience!! Booked on the day for a pre-theatre meal. Pub was busy but table was reserved for us. I was glad we had booked as I don't think we would have got a table without a booking. Staff very friendly and the food was delicious, I had the pulled pork burger. The service was great we were offered drinks immediately and did not have to wait long for the food. There was a great atmosphere and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Great service, really friendly and welcoming. Lovely atmosphere. Lunch with friends, will definitely be back
I have booked tables at the Square Pigs several times before for groups of 10-15 people opening a bar tap.
Staff in general is very friendly, the service is good and quick.
However, during my last visit I experienced an unpleasant incident. One person of the group was in need to recharge her phone using the App ChargedUp, a service offered by the Square Pig with several portable chargers at the bar desk. The group member in question needed to charge her phone urgently as her electronic ticket for the return train was saved on her phone. Unfortunately it didn't work and the customer service of the app told us to verify if the charger station was connected to the power supply. We asked the bar lady to check and she liaised with the manager who then just told her that she should not deal with it as it is "third party item". This is quite disappointing as the only thing they were asked to do was check the connectivity between the charger and the power socket at the bar desk which would have taken three seconds.
We ended up asking other bar guests for a regular charger.
Had the small plates and tostados, washed down with a nice pint or 2 from the Truman Brewery. Nice lunch on a rainy Friday...
I booked a table same day for 6, arrived slightly late and was helped by a lovely barman! Table was cleared and set up, food menu provided and we ordered at th bar. Food arrived about 15mins after we ordered, it was all delicious - options for vegetarians too!
Its a fine place as always. Less food choice than I remember but maybe I am wrong. Service was very slow. One chap kept loading and unloading the dish washer in front of me and my friend without asking us for our order (we assumed he was a busboy but it turned out he was the manager!) I asked for a glass for a ginger ale to be told “we don’t have glasses”. Yikes!
The food was delicious shame there is no drinks menu, the staff were friendly.
Nice place, good food and drink options. Enjoyed it.
Came here with a colleague a few weeks ago on our lunch break. When we got there we were told that they haven't got our booking and all the tables were full so we'd have to sit on the table with the bar stools which wasn't a problem although you can't sit facing the people you're with. Took ages to be served considering it was empty, ordered the steak and asked for no corn on the cob which I was given anyway and our chips were cold, my friend ordered a bacon cheese burger that had no bacon or BBQ sauce and had to ask for it to be added. Wouldn't come back in a rush
My team at work were very pleased with the Square Pig. There is a good variety of food choices for a reasonable price, will definitely book again.
Good food good ambient - you can also book for celebrations they have enough space to host you ! Cheers
Booked here and didn’t realise there was no restaurant area.
It took me 20mins just to get an answer from someone about where the table I had booked was because it was so busy and far too loud to have a catch up with friends.
Needless to say we didn’t stay to eat or drink as you had to queue up to order food and drink at the bar! It would have ended up taking all night.
Having said this I would like to head back for a drink sometime as it looked very popular.
Nice place with something for everyone. Astonishing drinks prices but typical for London. Food good.
Extremely noisy. Good for a drink. Not ideal for a sit down and chat meal.
Booked a table to watch the WC semi-finals and wasn't disappointed. Great vibe and selection of tap beers and ciders. Also, super friendly staff as they were nice to make sure the table will be facing a TV when called them.
We booked through OT 4 hours before going. Arrived to find no evidence of booking, and the place was heaving. Would not return and wouldn't use OT either
Met a friend for lunch and made the mistake of choosing a Friday - luckily I had booked a table as it was packed, mainly with quite large groups. They were very understaffed so the service was slow but ever so pleasant and the food was nice when it came.
We had a lovely evening as part of my hubby's birthday celebrations. There was good beer/wine options and lovely ribs. I imagine we'll be back :-)
Selected this restaurant as it had a 2/3 course Christmas Set menu however when we finally got menus we were told we could not have Christmas Dinner as we did not inform them at the time of booking. We were told we had to have the bar menu but there was only 4 out of 7 main courses left. When we arrived they tried to sit us on a table by the door that had not been cleared of empty drinks and had no chairs, we then found an empty table which had been reserved for us but the waiter thought it was for somebody else. We didn't even bother ordering food as the staff were rude, un-apologetic and full of lame excuses. I will never go back here again!!!
No heating.....only 2 options of food (no del due to snow)
Came here for a Christmas party last night.
Food was reasonably tasty, but was lacking in any heat. Also my friends sent back their profiteroles (very hard, like they’d been sat out along time) we were a bit late - sadly lots of suicides on the tube that evening so everyone was held up - but still felt a little let down by the food. Hake was well cooked though.
We were sat at ground level. It’s very loud in there, and they put our table right by the door to the terrace, so my friend was being knocked every time someone tried to go outside.
Staff were all lovely though, swiftly replacing a pint they knocked over when putting our mains down.
Wouldn’t say I’d be back necessarily, but wasn’t too bad. I’m sure there are much better places for a meal.
Nice and quiet for a business meeting, consistent food and perfect for what I needed.
Terrible experience with extremely loud, rude and drunk patrons. Food was expensive yet looked and tasted like it was deep fried straight from the freezer.
Great venue. Nice decor. Food ok. Service good. Would go again but won't rush back.
Really disappointing. Booked in advance through opentable , was a special occasion and arrived to find closed restaurant.
A real shame that the food took almost an hour to come out with no warning of the longevity of the wait. I was recommended this from a friend and whilst the food was good, service was average.
Perfectly satisfactory but nothing special and a menu that didn't quite live up to its promises on the page when it reached the table.Snail-like service didn't help but the staff were friendly.
Walked in for our reservation and the noise was so loud we couldn't hear each other. So, we had to find someone, since there was no apparent staff, except a bartender who was blocked by three large crowd, and then cancelled our reservation and ate elsewhere.
Mixed experience on this occasion. Seems to be a fun place on the whole. We have booked a table to have dinner and catch up with friends. When we got to the table it was right next to a busy walkway in a very busy pub. Location for diners could have been better. Luckily we fancied cocktails so moved downstairs to a better table and excellent service by mixologists at bar down there.
The venue did not have our booking, even though we had an email confirmation, but they made every effort to find us a table and within 10 minutes we were sat down. Very friendly staff.
Very poor service. Booked a table for dinner - firstly they didn't give us menus for ages, then when we ordered food they delivered it to the wrong table so we were waiting for over an hour whilst our friends on same table ate and finished their meals. After complaint the burgers arrived which were mediocre and didn't include all components listed on menu. Management gave full refund after we asked, and a free round of drinks, but will definitely not be dining here again. The drinks were good though.
We visited the Square Pig for their relaunch and were very disappointed. The service was extremely slow and the food was disappointing. I got the teriyaki swordfish and whilst the presentation was fun, the food was a let down. Very oily and not much flavour.
We used to enjoy visiting the Square Pig but I don't think we'll be back now.
