We turned up for our reservation on a busy Friday only to be told that they had private parties booked and there was no table for us. They had left a message on our home phone but as we were away for the weekend we hadn’t received it.
Our main issue was the offhand attitude of the staff who were rude and not at all helpful. Heard from another restaurant that they are closing in the New Year- good riddance!!
Restaurant phoned to say they didn’t serve food as late as our booking through open table so we moved time to half an hour earlier. Then they phoned later and cancelled our booking half an hour before the re-arranged time.
We weren’t in a hurry so the slow service didn’t matter. Food was very good. Cheese board for two with a half bottle of port was excellent.
This is the 2nd visit we have made to this restaurant and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Will be back soon.
We had a delightful meal. All the food was excellent, the fillet steak was cooked to the perfect temperature. The chicken supreme was very good. We will definitely be back.
A good standard of food for all of us.
Really good place, friendly staff and v good food.
The food was dissapoibting. I had vegatarian pie the pastry was inedible it was not just soggy but slimy. Green beans were so undercooked you could not cut them the potatoes were lovely. The wine was mediocre
Very enjoyable, nothing too much bother. Will definitely return.
Food was excellent, but service was very slow - two hours for two courses.
Lovely atmosphere and fantastic food! We had a brilliant evening at the Suffolk kitchen- would highly recommend it.
A totally delightful experience - great service, great food
Food was great. Someone in our group was lactose intolerant and they were very accommodating.
The food quality and service are always to a consistant standard, this is my go to Restaurant in Cheltenham.
Its been a long time since i have left a restaurant hungry and so dissatisfied. We had one of the worst meals here that i can recall for a very long time.
I really don't recommend this place to anyone until they find a chef who can cook!
Note the only other occupied table was also complaining about the food.
Another great evening at The Suffolk Kitchen - food and service fantastic.
A very nice meal, had the ribeye, perfect, scallops for starter, nuce relaxed atmosphere
First time we ate here was good but second visit food was no good, undercooked and just not as expected.
As always a wonderful meal - friendly atmosphere, helping to make the evening complete .
It’s a must visit restaurant in Cheltenham , relaxed dining with fantastic food .
The menu isn’t pages long ensuring the choices are of a high standard .... so if you haven’t been then you must try 😊
We were visiting Cheltenham for the first time and found ourselves walking up Suffolk Ave during Friday afternoon. The menu look good and it was within walking distance so we booked the table.
The restaurant was quite, with few customers but the ones there were being very well looked after, as were we. Our host for the evening was quite young but very polite and attentive without bothering us.
Then the first course arrived, quite simple shredded duck in a hoisin sauce on toasted sourdough..... it was absolutely gorgeous! I could have happily eaten another two courses of the same as a main. The lamb main course was good also, followed by a raspberry sorbet... a lot of raspberry sorbet... much more than I could eat in fact.
All in all, I will definitely return next time we are in town.
Great food. Loved the chorizo cassoulet fusion to accompany the sea bass
Oddly charming. I think there were a few issues when we dined, limited ice cream selection, some wines out of stock, service was not fast but it was fine. The food was ok too, nice sharing platter to start, nice risotto, big portions. If you were to don a foodie critics head you could say a lot more but frankly, why? It’s a nice local restaurant and they do a good job with warm and friendly service.
Excellent locally sourced produce crafted into hearty meals, full of flavour. A extremely friendly and attentive service. The current meal and a drink offer provides great value.
Enjoyed a very tasty vegetable Wellington and fish of the day...nice ambiance, friendly service would highly recommend!
Great food and really friendly service. Chilled atmosphere for midweek supper. Good value too.
We were out for a meal for our anniversary and found it extremely noisy as were right by a table of 14! We were asked if we wanted to move and were given a quieter table which was much better. Our experience was strongly let down strongly by the service from one of the waitresses. We also found the food ok but not what you’d expect for a pricey fillet steak...found the meal bland and had to ask for a fork!
Lovely evening celebrating our anniversary. Great food, great service - especially on a busy night with a big group also in the restaurant. Thanks for a lovely night.
We couldn’t fault the food here, it was all seasonal and beautifully prepared and presented. We had one young waitress who seemed a little grumpy, but everyone has their off days and everyone else was really friendly and attentive. I will be wholeheartedly recommending this place to all my friends and family.
A hidden gem, great for a casual get together.
We met friends for a quiet meal and were pleased to find this restaurant tucked away in Montpellier. This area is fast becoming the place to eat in Cheltenham.
Good menu, excellent fish catch of the day, friendly waiters, good service. An enjoyable evening.
Gary and Jackie.
Friendly service. Good value £10.95 menu. Well seasoned steak. Will go again
The service was excellent but the presentation of the food was ordinary and the restaurant lacked atmosphere
We use The Suffolk Kitchen on a fairly regular basis and have yet to be disappointed by the experience.
Good food, great choice of wine and excellent service.
As always a joy to eat here - friendly, fresh and well prepared food, friendly and helpful service
Great combination of laid back dining and high quality food at just right prices
Unfortunately the restaurant had run out of rib eye steaks by the time we arrived at 8pm. Service was not as good as usual, wine and water not served all guests. Warm weather all week meant the dining room was hot and stuffy, some of our guests were struggling with the lack of airflow.
Incredible gnocchi , great veggie option. Husband said the steak was one of the best he’s had in town.
Lovely - restaurant was very quiet the evening we went. We had an early sitting and had been warned we may be asked to leave at 8 but sat I disturbed for much longer. Food was amazing - shame nobody had room for the delicious sounding puddings. Service was attentive but staff didn’t hover. Great value too. My new favourite place to eat with friends
Local resident recommended this place, superb food, very tasty and great atmosphere. Staff really helpful, great gin and wine!! Loved the feel of the place.
Well-presented, piping hot, well-cooked Full English breakfasts. Service was prompt without being hurried, owner on the premises was attentive and friendly. All in all just a very pleasant experience, good value as well and thoroughly enjoyed by the three of us.
Wonderful Sunday lunch, great service and good value for money
