The Food was to a good standard. However we were squished onto a table between the food service area and a large group. This made it an uncomfortable experience as we had no room to move and were constantly having the waiters rush past us meaning we couldn't relax and enjoy the overall experience. Given that it is relatively expensive and the food is to a good standard but not anything outstanding, you would expect a better overall service and dining experience. To add to this, we were left waiting to be offered desert for a long time after mains had been cleared, we eventually just asked for the bill from one of the many waiters that by this point were just standing around.

A fun evening - tables were a bit too close -we had a party next to ours and the people kept moving around to mingle but had to keep squeezing onto us...

Great location will try for dry and bright weather next time!

Wonderful meal by the side of the canal. The restaurant was busy but the service from the staff was first class. Recommend.

The Summerhouse is a unique restaurant in an amazing setting directly adjacent to the Canal. I like taking clients there and they are always so impressed. There is nothing else like it.
I love it and i am constantly looking for reasons to go there.
It maintains that very difficult balance of being very relaxed and comfortable, whilst at the same time providing a five star service with five star cuisine.

Great food and a beautiful setting, however the service started off okay and then ended badly. We were given the dessert menu then no one came back to the table to take our order, even after trying to flag members of staff down. We’d finished our drink too and was ready to order more, but being left for too long we just decided to take our custom elsewhere and just asked for the bill. When the bill came we mentioned this and was given a ‘sorry, very busy tonight’. Not an excuse really as there looked to be plenty of staff working. A shame as like I mentioned, the food and the place itself is lovely.

AMAZING food, service and atmosphere overall. Just disappointed by the fact we couldn’t get a table next to the window even if we had reserved and called much time in advance. Also, they should clarify the 12% optional service on the bill is OPTIONAL and shouldn’t be already included in the subtotal.

Unfortunately on this occasion we received very poor service from the manager and after being regular here for many years, and a party of 9 people, none of us will be returning.

Had dinner here for my father’s birthday on Saturday at 6pm, asked for a table by the window and got it, so we were happy! The service was exceptional - They brought out a candle and sang “Happy Birthday” for my Father, and the food was very delicious. Would definitely go back.

This lovely restaurant just gets better and better. Food always good although my clam chowder was a bit disappointing - (full of potato instead of fish !! ) but the whole sea bass more than made up for it and everyone else seemed to enjoy their starters ! Too full for pudding but had an absolutely delicious decaf cuppucino instead. Staff were all delightful - even the young man (new ?) who tried to take our order before the rest of our party had even arrived - there were two of us sitting at a table for 6 . The restaurant looked lovely - loads of flowers everywhere and surprisingly delightful view over the algae ridden Canal .

I would recommend this local eatery, but I did think it was very expensive at almost £130 for two sharing a starter and desert and two main course specials , one glass of wine and soft drinks ! Very tasty but too pricey

I been for the first time with my best friend and my 2 kids, I made reservation in advance, when we got there we been told that we must order straight away, they took us to a table at the end of the restaurant in the corner, they where hiding me with the kids, the staff been unorganised, lost, unprepared, many times either them either the client drop things on the floor, very noisy, I was very disappointed. Very disappointed how I been treated, is like every parent must stay home instead, because if you go to restaurant they would give you the worst seat ever. I am disgusted of the service they offered. I felt so embarrassed towards my friend which she came such a long way to meet me at this restaurant. Food was good at least. Rest of the service very down.

I really enjoyed our visit to The Summerhouse. Considering the hustle and bustle of nearby Paddington, the location of this restuarant is very calming. I really enjoyed my Sea Bream and particularly liked the pea puree that came with it. The open kitchen gives an intimate feel, and as London goes I found the prices very reasonable. Definitely worth a visit if you're a seafood fan and want something a little more relaxing from your London dining experience.

Thoroughly enjoyed lunch with two friends on Friday 5 July at The SummerHouse. Service was excellent; so was the food; and what a unique ambiance for me, a visiting Ozzie, next to the canal, watching narrow boats and water birds popping up through the algae on the water. And their coffee can grace an Australian eatery any time!! Thanks so much, SummerHouse. And thanks to my lovely friends who shouted me lunch.

A beautiful sunny Sunday, nice table. but not a canal-side table as requested a good time in advance. One first course was wrong and there was a considerable wait for replacement whilst one of us had to eat as first course was hot. Many apologies from staff but it was a bit uncomfortable. Food was good and enjoyable, but we did find that the jersey new potatoes were lacking butter, mint or parsley and were a bit plain. We have been coming to the summerhouse for many years and will most certainly be coming again.

So a very mixed picture here.....lovely location, lovely wait staff, food - good enough (i'll say some more in a bit).

However, the welcome left everything to be desired. booked a lunch table for lunch on Sunday They have a 2 hour rule....which I get,...

Anyway, arrived at 12:40, asked for my table (restaurant nearly empty), told I could have it early, but my 2 hours starts from the moment i sit down (yes this was the second sentence from the host!). I said as the others had yet to arrive I would wait outside. I decided not to make an issue as it was an important family get together (3 people in total). Anyway stayed and noted that at no point was restaurant 100% full, people were not queuing at the door for our table. So all in all felt un-welcomed for no restaurant benefit at all.!!!

Food wise, generally ok. Greek salad...was odd in the extreme. A deconstructed number with fried feta balls and an olive tapanade...did not work for me.

Other dishes were good.

despite the location, the lack of welcome, approaching rude behaviour of the door will dissuade me from returning!

Our dinner at The Summerhouse was fantastic, we had our parents visiting and wanted treat them to a lovely dinner. Both the food and service was great, we had certain dietary requirements that needed to be considered but the staff and kitchen were very accommodating and made all guests feel at ease.

The location was great with views of the canal made our experience all the better.

Will definitely be returning!
