It was a gathering of six family members. It was our first visit even though we’re live locally
Full restaurant on arrival, warm ambience, staff friendly and efficient Our table was canal waterside
Luckily blankets were on our chairs which were used and appreciated by some of our party The waiter surprised our birthday guest with a mini desert and candle - nice fun touch
Our overall comments would describe our meals as “ just ok” .
The shelled prawns on the sharing platter were tasteless, my sons enjoyed the other items on the platter My husbands main dish of fish was just ok My mashed potatoes and spinach with my salmon dish was tasteless We all ordered starters, mains and desert so feel we as a group ate a good selection of food and thus able to comment as “mediocre food all round”. Would we return ...my son said he would probably would to sample their brunch menu
Lovely restaurant in a great location. No gluten free bread was available for brunch but after speaking to the owner they are going to start offering it soon
Nice fish restaurant on the canal. Friendly service and great menu.
Lovely meal - service from kitchen was very slow - amazing waiter had to apologise to use as we waited 35 mins between starter and main course. Shame as location, ambience and attentiveness was all great.
Nice restaurant - the 1kg seebass was really good!
Every time we land in London we book a table at the Summerhouse. As usual, we were given a table facing the counter, a busy area where the staff are based, despite the fact that the restaurant wasn't full and it was a Thursday evening. Yet, faced with my remark the manager offered another table. As usual we chose the Sancerre (white). This time its temperature wasn't good but a solution was promptly offered: an ice bucket, but no napkin (it was provided upon request). As usual too, we ordered the whole baked sea bass to share and it was delicious. The staff was friendly and almost competent. The ice cream was very good and the new chocolate mousse, with several pistachio nuts on top, would get a 5 star if it were a darker.. But we still miss the first version of the cheery chocolate pot. We will return.
The restaurant was quaint and special. I did specifically book for a birthday and I am not sure they really did set aside a table for us as it was a 4 seater and they changed it to 2 when we arrived.
There seem to be a really big table next to us and unfortunately the service was poor as a result. Food was brilliant but the service was very slow and quite poor.
Otherwise it was a good evening and I'd like to come back.
Same as before, and before that. We love the Summerhouse, and will always go there for occasions.
Service was great
Oysters were all badly shucked: all had broken shell pieces in the meat :-(
Starters and main (daily special) were great
Menu could use some changes, it's been pretty much the same for about two years
Tight seating arrangements
Stunning place but the service was slow, they should employ more staff.
A lovely atmosphere. Busy restaurant with a light and summery vibe by the canal. Forgot that it was a rainy day outside. Good fish dishes and service was friendly and efficient
We were lucky enough to have a canal side table and enjoyed watching the traffic on the water. We were warmly greeted and immediately felt comfortable in the relaxed atmosphere. The service was attentive and courteous and pleasantly informal. Our meal was promptly served and was delicious. We shared a sea bass as our main which was beautifully cooked. We’ll definitely be going back.
Great fish food, we loved the canal side location, the pleasing tranquillity of the place, and the service was excellent. Thanks for making it a memorable lunch, I intend to repeat the experience as soon as possible
Had lunch on a beautiful sunny day and this was the perfect location for it, with all.of the windows open it felt like we were sitting on a boat.
Chips were wonderful, swordfish good, though criss-crossing the top with mayonnaise and then topping it with mango salsa was a little odd! My dining companion had the bream which looked, and apparently taste, great
I've erred on 'no' regarding a recommendation. This is principally because my experience of the restaurant was quite different from the summer (as it was bound to be in some areas). Because of the density of tables, it was extremely noisy . My guest and I had to lean in across the table to hear each other because of the cacophony. Relaxed conversation was impossible. The food isn't bad, but everything is was rushed, and for the prices, it is really only average. It's not a bad restaurant, but I will think twice before booking it again over the Autumn/Winter period.
Delicious food, always a delight! Everything is fab here from the food, setting and service! Perfect for all occasions!
Lovely, buzzy atmosphere in this great canal-side seafood restaurant. Helpful, friendly staff. Delicious food and good decor. Hard to move around the tables as they are packed in to maximise seating capacity. Best on a sunny day but good all year round. They were super-busy during our visit, so service was a little slow but understandably so. Parking is free on the street right outside (at weekends), which was a bonus. Highly recommend and we look forward to returning soon.
Delicious food, great ambiance and excellent service
Pleasant atmosphere. Lack of variety for food but overall a nice experience.
Lovely place. Nice setting. Good food. Friendly service
We had a really nice diner with a view on the canal. Food was delicious and noise level for an evening was decent. Service was a bit brusque and you’d expect excellence from this kind of restaurant (wine poured too fast from too far ends up dripping on the table cloth, mix up of whose dish belongs to whom). Overall very pleasant
We were given a table in the middle, which was good as we still had views to the canal and were not too close to the kitchen. Amazing food and service.
Great overall experience
Very nice seafood restaurant with great atmosphere and very nicely decorated inside. Slightly on the pricier side but what you would expect for good quality seafood. Service was friendly and fast. Had the seabream and swordfish as mains and brownie and eton mess for dessert, would recommend them all and will definitely be going back to try the rest of the menu!
Lovely food, perfect service, great atmosphere. I requested a canal side table as it was a birthday celebration, which we were given. Special place, would definitely go again.
Delicious swordfish and beautifully presented. Lovely airy restaurant on the canal.
Thank you, it was fantastic! Great service too.
My fish came smothered in mayonnaise which was a bit tacky, but everything else great
The place is really nice with beautiful
views to the canal. It makes you feel like you are in a seaside town somewhere in France. We had fish dishes and the food was good albeit a bit overpriced which was not surprising considering the area. Still, I would recommend the place for a nice Sunday lunch.
The food is good, the staff excellent, it was a shame we didn't get our request for a table overlooking the canal as we took friends with us that had not been there before.
Yet again another lovely lunch with friends thanks for the delicious food and fabulous service
Lovely restaurant! We visited for breakfast and the food was delicious - we opted for the full English and vegetarian which were excellent.
We found the location great, but service was a bit hit and miss! Also, the tables were very close together- felt like you were sat on top of one another. Ask for a table by the canal if you can!
Absolutely outstanding place for dinner. The atmosphere was incredible, layout and decoration beautiful and the food was beyond amazing!
My date was impressed!
I would highly recommend.
Beautiful setting and good food but the service let us down a bit. The waiters were very slow and quite grumpy.
Love this place. Recommend this restaurant to all my family/friends.
Delightful venue, friendly staff and delicious food. A perfect venue for a summers evening and a celebration event.
This was my first visit having found out about the Summerhouse from a friend. The occasion was a dinner for two and there was a small bit of romance in the air so I was pleased to finds that it was in a very nice location alongside the canal. We had been advised to book and were able to get a seat almost overlooking the water. On the evening of our meal there was quite a lot of activity on the water which made for pleasant viewing while dining. We were met as soon as we arrived and promptly led to our table. All the staff were very helpful and pleasant throughout dealing with all request and orders in a very efficient manner. The standard they set is high, even down to small details like the cloth napkins they provide. The food was also of a high standard and was also very enjoyable. The atmosphere was always pleasant and we felt relaxed and comfy. After the meal we asked if we could be finish off our drinks at the lounge end and we were shown to a small area out over the water which was intimate and a added to our enjoyment of the experience.
The Summerhouse for Sunday brunch was fantastic. We got there early enough to get a seat by the water and that made it a special meal and day.
Only whole milk, so bizarre. And no gluten free bread.
Food was excellent but the service could have been better. However it was really busy. Overall we all enjoyed
Very nice and curated atmosphere. The fish was fresh and delicious but it lacked a bit of creativity in the dishes. Overall it is a very good and chic traditional fish restaurant.
