The Swan Inn - Swinbrook
A very relaxed lunch with good food and unobtrusive but very prompt service.
Delicious soup!!! Lovely atmosphere, good service.
Lovely pub, great service and equally great food, would definitely recommend
The food was outstanding. Our party of four commented that in every section of the menu there were multiple things we would have chosen. The presentation and the food itself were really really good. The atmosphere is really buzzing and fun but not so loud that you can’t have easy conversations. We were there in winter and the fire and cosy charm of the pub made it the perfect setting for a very special evening. We absolutely loved it!!
Friends had recommended the Swan. We went for a valentine’s day lunch and the experience was very poor.
The noise of crashing dishes in the kitchen was unacceptable.
My starter of Broccoli and Stilton soup was foul and had to be sent back, they did take this from the bill, but this wasn’t the quality of food we were expecting.
The main courses were also terrible. My wife’s fish cakes appeared to be reheated from the day before, they were rock hard and I could have used my burger to re-sole my boots. The mayonnaise came with a thick skin on it.
The service was slow and distinctly average.
There are much better places to eat in the surrounding area.
A beautiful pub on the outside, a little too modern on the inside for my taste, which compromises the atmosphere. The staff were friendly and efficient but ultimately I thought the food was expensive for what is was.
First time I have been to The Swan at Swinbrook and I would definitely go again. The food was delicious and the staff were efficient and friendly. One suggestion, whilst I am a huge fan of dogs and I have one myself, there was a dog in the restaurant that barked consistently throughout our meal which led us to leave earlier than we would have done normally, whilst I appreciate this is not The Swan’s fault I don’t think it would have been unreasonable to ask the owner to take the dog out for a while until it settled down or put it in the car (as long as this didn’t cause stress to the dog). It is difficult for diners to thoroughly enjoy a meal with a dog constantly barking And I noted other diners getting irritated also. I would however come back again and hope there wasn’t another barking dog!
We had a wonderful lunch at the Swan. The atmosphere and decor is elegant but comfortable and the service impeccable. Everything we ate was wonderful - I had the hake as my main course and loved the combination of flavours and textures, particularly the kipper potato cake which I would happily eat on its own. I chose the affogato for dessert because it’s a favourite of mine and I wasn’t disappointed but I did experience a bit of pudding envy when my family described their rhubarb fool desserts as the best they had ever had! We were very pleased with the selection of wine which was available in a half litre carafe. I would definitely return again and we have already talked about staying next time so we could explore the wine list further.
The food was delicious and innovative. Everything was fresh - lovely vegetables. Staff very informal and welcoming.
We had an excellent lunch with friends at the Swan , and will be returning next time we meet up.
This was our first trip to The Swan Inn and we were thrilled with the location and accommodation, which was clean and very comfortable. We dined in the restaurant where the staff were very friendly and informative. The restaurant itself is charming as befits a property of its age and had welcoming fires in each room. We throughly enjoyed our meal which was delicious and would not hesitate recommending the Swan Inn to any of our friends and family.
Lovely building with lots of history. Waiter/manager very attentive and helpful. Food really good though courses came a little too quickly together. Been here several times and never disappoints
We were given another tables food (at this point our bread was taken away and then it was a while before our food came) & the staff tried to take our coffee order after a colleague already had - bad communication between staff
I went as it was my mother s 89 birthday, they made us very welcome with some candles on my mothers dessert! Food excellent
The food was excellent, well cooked and very tasty.
We had a good lunch at a lovely table by the fire. Comfortable but not too hot. We were well looked after. There are three circular walks on the website so we did one of these after lunch. Good views, soggy at points!
We visit the Swan several times a year and it always achieves a high standard of food and service
The menu has just enough variety and the staff always very professional and attentive
Incredible food, awful service. Might just have been a one off but our waiter was incredibly slow - incredibly slow- and eventually the other waitresses sorted us out. Sad times because the food when it came was excellent
Almost perfect - I just wish there had been spinach in my ‘spinach and mushroom tagliatelle’!
Quick stop for lunch before a nice walk in the Cotswolds (to Burford from the pub). Hearty open sandwich, great value. Thoroughly recommend this place
Excellent. Wouldn't change a thing. Service exactly as it should be. Great food, perfectly seasoned, fairly priced.
Very good food and service. Didn't like dogs being allowed in restaurant
Very friendly place food was good although not exceptional but value for money. Small menu but no problems with that. Would recommend the Cotswolds lager.
We had a very nice time at the SWan Inn. Thnkas so much for the good atmosphere and food.
Enjoyed a revisit to the Swan. Not disappointed except they seem to be one of only a few pubs that don’t offer the roast beef as pink. Have some weak excuse. Lamb fatty and if anything underdone.
Excellent food, gorgeous pub. Service needs a little work as does the ambience but overall I would recommend.
We weren't disappointed in the least with the Swan. Good food but not overly fussy, cosy rooms and
great service without being intrusive. Will return. Thank you.
Very good food which was very nicely presented. There is a lovely atmosphere in the pub which is set in beautiful countryside.
Very helpful on arrival, in parking my car; good, timely service, good food, beer and wine. Great ambience.
We blew in on a wintry day to a warm fire and a gentle, easy warm welcome. Service was kind, immediate and unobtrusive. The pub, itself, is a charming old Cotswold building with beautiful additions, seamlessly added. The extended dining area is in aged, green oak with glass instead of walls. It sits on the garden side and has been made to meld into the rest of the buildings perfectly. The food was delicious. It was a pheasant schnitzel with a delicious, thin slice of bacon, a poached egg and an intriguing sauce that brought it all together with a “Wow” from both of us. The ambiance was quiet, yet quite full, and great for a good chat with an old friend. All in all it was just what we needed and with great warmth and style. Thank you.
We enjoyed meeting up with cousins who we have not seen for a while - you are 1 hour either north or south of where we both live. Food was lovely. My only complaint was that when my husband paid, his card was rejected (in spite of having plenty of money in the account) the waiter came to the table and announced to the whole room that it had been rejected. This was embarrassing The waiter should have called him to one side to explain the problem - some training is needed.
Excellent food, ambience and service. Thanks! Will return soon.
I Had the battered Haddock and chips and it delicious. Lovely venue for a cosy meal. Good range of beer and wine. Beautiful location. Thoroughly recommended.
We really enjoyed our light lunch. there were not many people around so it was quiet but I don't think noise would have been a problem if there had been more people due to the arrangement of the tables. The setting is idyllic and having visited in the Summer as well, we appreciated that the ambience was as good in November.
Our friends thought it was great as well and we would all love to come back and have a full meal and possibly stay over-night.
Lovely old Cotswold pub full of character , Lovely food with prompt service with log fire nice and cosy
Without a doubt the food was excellent it is well worth the trip.
Been there on a number of occasions food always great.
Lovely pub/restaurant - we went for lunch and didn’t think it would be very busy but actually it was a good job I’d booked a table. Food was presented really nicely and tasted great - only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because open cheese and chutney sandwiches didn’t have any chutney.
Staff really welcoming and whole place well maintained and clean.
Definitely worth a visit - menu more suited to evening meal/main meal rather than lite bite lunches.
The food and service was excellent, and we had a great time!
Always love coming here. We are lucky to live locally. Love the ambience, the friendly service, the setting and the food was delicious. Thank you.
Traditional Sunday Lunch in a fabulous pub. Excellent choice of real ales served by attentive staff Overall great experience
