Great experience in a stunning location
Good Sunday lunch. Busy, clearly a local favorite. Well worth a visit.
Very pretty - Christmas lights understated and tasteful. Lovely warm welcome from waitress who looked after us very well without being intrusive. Nice food.
Particularly impressed by response to our wine accident and no charge for replacement
Lovely walk from Burford to Swinbrook and the Swan did not disappoint. Beautiful location, warm friendly welcome and delicious food .
We love coming here . Has been a favourite for many years Always a warm welcoming atmosphere and delicious food
Perfect stop after a long walk
Love the new ladies !
Found this pub on the internet while staying in Whitney just a short drive away. There was a warm greeting and settled at a table for two. The food was excellent and so was the service (the beef and mushroom pie was to die for). Will definitely visit again when in the area again.
This was our third visit for Sunday lunch. The food never disappoints us. The meat is always cooked to perfection. Have also stayed over in one of the lovely rooms and enjoyed a lovely breakfast. Staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble to please us.
Excellent roast. Service a little slow. We were edgy because we had left the small people at home though - so normal people may be less bothered or not even notice. Fab staff, lovely food, great atmosphere.
Supper for 2 - thoroughly enjoyed our meal, great starter (salt and pepper squid and smoked chicken salad) and mains (partridge and burger) and good wine list. Relaxed ambience but stylishly presented interior, from people enjoying a drink, with their (well behaved) dogs, to families, groups of friends, all ages.
Friendly relaxed atmosphere. Great surroundings, classical Cotswolds.
Really great food, well presented and fab surroundings..........we'll be back
The food and service was fantastic. From the moment we arrived we were looked after with a smile and quick and efficient service. The food was fantastic, the menu small but with something for everyone on. The conservatory at the back was beautifully lit.
I am an infrequent visitor - business and Lunch for Clients who live in the locality.
On all occasions the thing that impresses me most is the helpful and courteous attention received from all members of staff.
The menu is always good and seasonal and the food has been of a consistently high standard.
Fantastic Cotswold pub. Delicious Food. Beautiful location.
Really well kept and presented country pub/restaurant in a beautiful setting alongside the Windrush river. Full of history with the Mitford connection (photos all over the walls), but more importantly the food was excellent. Some of the best we have had in a country inn of this type. Thoroughly recommended.
Maintaining a high standard of service and quality of food, completely reliable value.
Beautiful and very good food, best food in cotswolds 👍👍👍
We had a wonderful lunch on Saturday with friends tucked up by the log burner. The pub was warm and welcoming and so were the staff. Great menu and excellent quality food with plenty of choice. We stayed longer than we intended because the atmosphere was so relaxing - thank you
A friendly welcome and good service though the restaurant became very full. Noise levels initially were a bit high but we must have got used to it. Food was excellent
Relaxed midweek lunchtime atmosphere, buzzy but not intrusive. Balanced menu, freshly prepared tasty food. We thought reasonably priced. Fabulous riverside setting. Thouroughly enjoyed our afternoon. Would definitely recommend.
Absolutely delightful historic pub in picture perfect setting delicious food great gin selection and friendly efficient waiters
Beautiful location, attractive interior and lovely food. A little pricey but worth it for a birthday or special occassion.
Lovely old pub. Excellent bar.
Sunday roast meal was not great. Could improve. Service was very friendly and very good.
Small point but the flowers on the table were rather tired.
I commend the Swan for its front of house training you are made to feel special and even though the staff are often run off their feet when they interact with your table you feel you are the only people there. The dog is welcomed as a member of the family and without asking biscuits and a water bowl are offered whether inside or outside. the chef is quality and whilst this is expensive pub food it is worth every penny on a special occasion or when taking guests and wanting to be sure of a consistent quality !
Fantastic Gastro pub with great ambiance, great food, excellent service highly recommend
Located on the River Windrush, next to a cricket ground but close to the A40, this is a perfect place to enjoy some high quality food and drink in relaxed surroundings. I have been on Sunday lunchtime and on a Saturday night and the food on each occasion has been very high class using fresh, local ingredients. Definitely recommended if you're in the area.
Pretty pub with good service. My lunch was delicious and I would go there again.
The Swan was worth driving a bit around to find it. It’s lovely pub with garden, great in nice weather. Good selection of food also on Sunday - not only roasts. Service was very attentive although it was quite busy.
Great place to visit, in a quiet area of Oxfordshire with delicious food and excellent, friendly service.
we regularly choose this restaurant for special occasions or to treat visiting friends as it ticks all our boxes - good menus, nice places to sit whether in or out, very obliging staff and a lovely area then for a walk, besides the specific interest of the pub itself
Once owned by the Mitfords, this pub is hard to find, but we'll worth the drive.
The service was not very professional- e.g. the waitress screwed the top back on the wine when she had poured it, which she should not have done and also she didn't really know how to serve wine properly. The staff were too casually dressed and could have been smarter. The bar didn't have the wine we wanted and the alternative Australian wine we did have was very young - 2017- and our Australian guest didn't rate it.
The food, however, was good. and well presented.
We think the restaurant has changed hands since we were there about a year ago and it is not so classy as before. It's perfectly OK but not for a special night out, which was what we had planned.
A table of guests close to us were very loud and we found them rather intrusive.
The great and the good may call but there were more of the eccentric and well heeled there. The Mitford memorabilia appeals. Serving staff were most assiduous. However, don’t have the table for two by the entrance to the garden as you have to keep moving to allow people to enter. Food was simple, seasonal and delicious...
Food was very good. Service was poor with a 40 minute+ wait between first and second courses. Our table was next to the bar which was extremely noisy throughout the whole evening. We had expected a more sophisticated dining experience.
Situated by a river in a tiny hamlet, the Swan is a beautifully presented, cosy, authentic Cotswold pub with fabulous food and friendly staff. We had a traditional Sunday lunch and it was delicious. The food was fresh, well cooked and seasoned. We loved it.
My Husband and I enjoyed the incredible food and atmosphere very much. Service was perfect and friendly, too.
Such a lovely ambience here with a spacious dining area. The service was perfectly low key, the manager was most engaging and the food delicious. I loved the history of the locality - the Mitfords, the church and neighbouring Widford with its tiny early medieval church.
A simply beautiful setting and great service
We had lunch after a tour round the area and it was a perfect spot with a varied menu for traditional pub lunches or something with a twist. The cockerel was brilliant entertainment!
Stayed at the Swan for two nights for our Silver Wedding Anniversary. Situated in an idyllic, quiet location, on the edge of the village; we had a lovely large room with a huge comfy bed and large bathroom with a range of locally produced toiletries. There was a door leading out into our own garden area with patio chairs and table, where we sat in the evening listening to the bird song and the river rushing by. Had a wonderful meal in one of intimate rooms of the beautiful inn; all the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Great breakfast in the bright, open conservatory that looks out onto a large garden with outdoor seating. Highly recommend the location, food and friendly service.
