Situated by a river in a tiny hamlet, the Swan is a beautifully presented, cosy, authentic Cotswold pub with fabulous food and friendly staff. We had a traditional Sunday lunch and it was delicious. The food was fresh, well cooked and seasoned. We loved it.
Such a lovely ambience here with a spacious dining area. The service was perfectly low key, the manager was most engaging and the food delicious. I loved the history of the locality - the Mitfords, the church and neighbouring Widford with its tiny early medieval church.
A simply beautiful setting and great service
We had lunch after a tour round the area and it was a perfect spot with a varied menu for traditional pub lunches or something with a twist. The cockerel was brilliant entertainment!
Stayed at the Swan for two nights for our Silver Wedding Anniversary. Situated in an idyllic, quiet location, on the edge of the village; we had a lovely large room with a huge comfy bed and large bathroom with a range of locally produced toiletries. There was a door leading out into our own garden area with patio chairs and table, where we sat in the evening listening to the bird song and the river rushing by. Had a wonderful meal in one of intimate rooms of the beautiful inn; all the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Great breakfast in the bright, open conservatory that looks out onto a large garden with outdoor seating. Highly recommend the location, food and friendly service.
This is a lovely pub in a picturesque location. The staff are friendly, extremely courteous and the food is outstanding. In the summer you can enjoy their beautiful garden with nothing but cotswold stone and wisteria in sight. Not to mention it is located in Swinbrook which is a great example of the Cotswolds.
A very pleasant pub/restaurant with an interesting menu and very good cooking and presentation. It is located in a beautiful village near the river, an idyliic setting on a warm summer evening.
It was our first visit to the Swan which came highly recommended from friends. As the weather was good we were lucky enough to sit outside. The food and the service were also good resulting in a lovely time being had by all. It was very busy and everyone else seemed to be having a good time too.
The Swan Inn is a beautiful B & B in an idyllic peaceful location. The website does not do it justice. Just across the road from the front door there is a grassy area with picnic tables, the perfect place to relax with a drink by the River Windrush and watch the world go by. Clean comfortable accommodation with large flat screen TV’s. Good food including the English breakfast, or cereals and toast if you prefer. Friendly helpful staff. Drinks at the bar are a bit pricy but probably typical for the area. Overall excellent value for money, at least 9 out of 10. Highly recommended, would love to visit again.
Friendly locals, animal fiendly, though didn't notice any in the dining area.
We booked a table and on arriving was shown to a lovely table. The food was excellent and the service we received was warm and friendly. I would recommend the Swan to friends and family and we will definitely be visiting again.
We took our three Grandchildren out for dinner. They are 10, 9 and 6 years. Although we eat in the conservatory, the garden was large enough for the children to play, talk to the chickens, and watch the horses in the next field.
Good choice of menu, smaller sizes on some dishes for those of us with smaller appetites. All freshly cooked and very good chips and fries.
Lovely garden, friendly staff although our order got a little muddled the food was delicious!
Most accommodating staff and kitchen as our arrival was delayed by a late rail journey from London, surprise eh!?
Food and service up to its usual high standard, in a very friendly yet discreet way , lovely.
Thanks to everyone who looked after us
We had a wonderful meal at the Swan, everything was beautifully cooked and presented, the staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended
We have visited the Swan several occasions, normally very good, however, they had an off evening last Saturday
the staff kept forgetting orders and had to be reminded on a couple of occasions, the air dried beef starter was
very average , basically a plate of rocket , still we won’t give up , everyone has an off day.
As usual we had a lovely tasty meal with warm welcoming staff
Just finished of a very pleasant afternoon.would throughly recommend the Swan
Very good food & service. Revisited after several years away and was not disappointed
New experience relaxed atmosphere service great
Idyllic setting full of history. Delicious food in a stylish but rustic ambience.
We had a table in the garden on a lovely sunny day. Everything was very good, but what made the lunch particularly enjoyable and memorable was the outstanding service. All the staff were pleasant, eager to please and all requests were accepted happily, and handled efficiently
All were very good. Very attentive .will definitely go again.
Friendly efficient staff. Good food in a lovely environment.
Idyllic spot in a tiny Cotswold village. Delicious food, many creative choices.
The food was lovely but the portions were small, especially the deserts. We ordered the longhorn steaks which were £25 but were disappointed.
This a lovely spot in the Windrush valley best approached by walking to/from Burford.? 4 miles in total.
Charming old riverside pub in a glorious Cotswold location. Friendly and attentive staff and cosy bar / dining area plus pretty conservatory dining area to the rear. Excellently prepared and presented food although not a huge menu. Well kept ales and good choice of wines. The lamb on the specials board was gorgeous as was the chocolate fondant to follow. Very popular pub so recommend booking.
I spent a lovely evening with my son, who I don't see very often. Lovely drink in the garden, fantastic meal. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff.
Delicious sunday lunch on a sunny day. Food delicious, wine tasty, service brilliant
Delicious food in a beautiful setting. Lively family friendly ambience. Delightful friendly staff.
Nice pub. Especially on a sunny day. Food was good but not exceptional. Friendly attentive service.
The food was lovely, beautifully cooked and presented. The service was excellent and a lovely setting. Couldn't have asked for more, would definitely recommend it
Lovely dinner, delicious food and great atmosphere. They also have great garden for sunny days
Went here Saturday night for my husband’s birthday. Started with two glasses of English sparkling wine non the less - surprisingly very nice. Had a lovely bottle of Franshoek cab to accompany our dinner. We had scallops and tiger prawns to start and shared the Hake as main. All beautifully done and soooo tasty. Service was very efficient and friendly without being overbearing. Lovely evening - thank you.
A great day in the Cotswolds where we were meeting up with friends, the village is the perfect location, we even got THE sunny day of the week so a stroll to the church was possible. Great pub in a cottage atmosphere, friendly guests and staff, very attentive, fine choice on the menu, will go back and highly recommend , MClaire
Wonderful cosy pub with a lovely atmosphere & the perfect location for Sunday lunch. Lunch was delicious but as we’d booked for 2.30 I’m guessing that the roast potatoes had been cooked earlier, as they were rather over cooked. Everything else was delicious especially the lemon tart.
A fairly traditional pub in a lovely valley and beautiful setting with friendly and efficient service. We ate in the conservatory which was light with plenty of space between tables and we enjoyed watching the bantams!
However the food was a little disappointing! I had the " double baked cheese souffle" which had been pre-cooked and was cold. My son had tender lamb but it had been kept warm for sometime..... not while they were waiting for my cold souffle??
However we couldn't fault the deserts which were excellent.
Very cosy on a cold night
Excellent Sunday lunch in a lovely, riverside setting with great service. We would highly recommend the Swan for those looking for a cut above the rest.
Nice lunch. Ate from bar menu so cannot comment on quality of the more inventive a la carte, but the quality of food was good, though prices are high (although in line with local prices). Service was friendly but a bit slow and felt forgotten about a couple of times.
