The Swan Inn - Swinbrook
A good country pub with first rate food and wonderful staff.
We had a lovely time.
Disappointing, slow service, insensitive staff, fish and chips like school dinner.
Well what a difference a week makes, last Sunday was, as reviewed, excellent but sadly our experience today was the total opposite.
It all started with the doombar running out with no replacement, the pigeon written on the special board was not available today, the fish and chips with “hand cut chips” on the menu, turned up 45 minutes after the order was placed with.... frozen french fries and the mushy peas were cold, my order of roe deer came with just 2 small slices of the aforementioned meat, meagre to say the least and certainly not worth the £20 price tag.
I am sorry to say that the high standard experienced last week did not materialise on this Saturday lunchtime.
Not so good unlike previous visit. Food was a bit disappointing and service was slow probably because the restaurant and bar were jam packed.
A little on the pricey side for the standard of food served but over all very nice .
After a 5 mile hike around this lovely countryside, we followed this with Sunday lunch. Delicious food, served in a very cosy spot next to the log burning stove, staff were polite and attentive and we are looking forward to a return visit. thank you.
Have eaten here a few times over the last 3 years as it is well located to meet family. Sadly the overall experience has diminished over this time. The actual food is excellent but the menu lacks variety for some people. We noticed that yesterday’s menu offered no chicken, there was partridge or duck. Have come to the conclusion that if we are 4 people it works, there are some lovely cozy tables. Larger parties tend to be in the conservatory area which has the kitchen door and outside door which creates inevitable traffic. Chairs being scraped across floor when an an extremely large table was being reset to two large tables was painful to the ear. Appreciate that it is difficult to accommodate everyone’s needs
Very nice pub with good menu options and very accommodating to me being a coeliac. Warm and friendly vibe.
fabulous food, friendly relaxed atmosphere, beautiful setting......definitely going again next week !!
I had a simple open beef sandwich. The beef was outstanding, beautifully cooked and gorgeous taste.
The good: nice location, very smart inside, very tasty food
The bad: incredibly slow service, not very attentive, limited car parking
Lovely Cotswold pub. Great food and good selection of beers.
Delicious food, perfect dining spot by the fire and a lovely warm welcome
We chose the Swan to catch up with friends as it was halfway travelling for both of us. They drove up from London and we came from Herefordshire it was well worth the drive. Tastefully decorated, warm & friendly good menu and food did not disappoint.
Our first visit. Very pleasant and food delicious. Pretty area for walks and dog friendly too🐈.
Great experience in a stunning location
Good Sunday lunch. Busy, clearly a local favorite. Well worth a visit.
Very pretty - Christmas lights understated and tasteful. Lovely warm welcome from waitress who looked after us very well without being intrusive. Nice food.
Particularly impressed by response to our wine accident and no charge for replacement
Lovely walk from Burford to Swinbrook and the Swan did not disappoint. Beautiful location, warm friendly welcome and delicious food .
We love coming here . Has been a favourite for many years Always a warm welcoming atmosphere and delicious food
Perfect stop after a long walk
Love the new ladies !
Found this pub on the internet while staying in Whitney just a short drive away. There was a warm greeting and settled at a table for two. The food was excellent and so was the service (the beef and mushroom pie was to die for). Will definitely visit again when in the area again.
This was our third visit for Sunday lunch. The food never disappoints us. The meat is always cooked to perfection. Have also stayed over in one of the lovely rooms and enjoyed a lovely breakfast. Staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble to please us.
Excellent roast. Service a little slow. We were edgy because we had left the small people at home though - so normal people may be less bothered or not even notice. Fab staff, lovely food, great atmosphere.
Supper for 2 - thoroughly enjoyed our meal, great starter (salt and pepper squid and smoked chicken salad) and mains (partridge and burger) and good wine list. Relaxed ambience but stylishly presented interior, from people enjoying a drink, with their (well behaved) dogs, to families, groups of friends, all ages.
Friendly relaxed atmosphere. Great surroundings, classical Cotswolds.
Really great food, well presented and fab surroundings..........we'll be back
The food and service was fantastic. From the moment we arrived we were looked after with a smile and quick and efficient service. The food was fantastic, the menu small but with something for everyone on. The conservatory at the back was beautifully lit.
I am an infrequent visitor - business and Lunch for Clients who live in the locality.
On all occasions the thing that impresses me most is the helpful and courteous attention received from all members of staff.
The menu is always good and seasonal and the food has been of a consistently high standard.
Fantastic Cotswold pub. Delicious Food. Beautiful location.
Really well kept and presented country pub/restaurant in a beautiful setting alongside the Windrush river. Full of history with the Mitford connection (photos all over the walls), but more importantly the food was excellent. Some of the best we have had in a country inn of this type. Thoroughly recommended.
Maintaining a high standard of service and quality of food, completely reliable value.
Beautiful and very good food, best food in cotswolds 👍👍👍
We had a wonderful lunch on Saturday with friends tucked up by the log burner. The pub was warm and welcoming and so were the staff. Great menu and excellent quality food with plenty of choice. We stayed longer than we intended because the atmosphere was so relaxing - thank you
A friendly welcome and good service though the restaurant became very full. Noise levels initially were a bit high but we must have got used to it. Food was excellent
Relaxed midweek lunchtime atmosphere, buzzy but not intrusive. Balanced menu, freshly prepared tasty food. We thought reasonably priced. Fabulous riverside setting. Thouroughly enjoyed our afternoon. Would definitely recommend.
Absolutely delightful historic pub in picture perfect setting delicious food great gin selection and friendly efficient waiters
Beautiful location, attractive interior and lovely food. A little pricey but worth it for a birthday or special occassion.
Lovely old pub. Excellent bar.
Sunday roast meal was not great. Could improve. Service was very friendly and very good.
Small point but the flowers on the table were rather tired.
I commend the Swan for its front of house training you are made to feel special and even though the staff are often run off their feet when they interact with your table you feel you are the only people there. The dog is welcomed as a member of the family and without asking biscuits and a water bowl are offered whether inside or outside. the chef is quality and whilst this is expensive pub food it is worth every penny on a special occasion or when taking guests and wanting to be sure of a consistent quality !
