All of the options we provides at The Tavern at Diamond Mills are handcrafted and many menu items are made with locally-sourced ingredients.
Whether dining al fresco on the Grand Terrace overlooking the majestic falls, or cozying up in a booth by the fire of the main dining room, The Tavern at Diamond Mills is the perfect place to meet friends, have a romantic dinner or grab a quick bite at the bar.
We went for brunch on Sunday, March 8. The lemon ricotta pancakes were light, fluffy and delicious. Our server was beyond professional and personable. The space is beautiful and offers a wonderful River view from huge windows. Will be back for sure.
Service very poor. Waiter in attentive and slow. Numerous errors in orders, checks inaccurate. We dined with another couple and we were clear on wanting separate checks. We were frequent patrons in the past. We called on the Manager to assist in clearing up all of the confusion. After telling her how displeased we were her answer was I am sorry. Very concerning customer service.
We will be back and I already recommended to my friends who will be up in a few weeks
We were surprised to discover this gem, which has fine Italian-inspired cuisine prepared by a CIA-trained chef at prices that were incredibly reasonable. Brunch was delicious! Baked goods were scrumptious, omelets were tasty. Younger adults loved the pizze. A new prickly pear semifreddo desert was amazing. We're looking forward to eating there again and trying other dishes. The dining room was almost empty, and service was enthusiastic. Restaurant is in a converted former sawmill factory, with lots of light, plus a great deck and view of the manmade Esopus falls. We were there in winter, but I'm sure it's fantastic in the spring/summer/fall, with dining on the deck.
Tanee was exceptional with his service, the food was amazing from the french kiss oysters to the veal parm! Definitely will be visiting again.
I love eating at Diamond Mills. It’s always saved for a special night. The service is always excellent as well.
Consistently good service, food and can not beat the view of the waterfall. Simply amazing.
If I have colleagues who are in that area I would recommend the Tavern.
Excellent food. Delicious and beautifully served. My only complaint was that on a busy Valentine's night, they could have used another barman. It took forever to get our first drinks, and the drink pairings didn't come until our food had arrived, even though we ordered them in advance. But the food was the star. Everything we ordered was a huge hit.
We had such high expectations for our Valentine’s Day dinner at diamond mills. My fiancé and I got engaged less than a month ago and I took her here in hopes that it would be truly memorable. We were so disappointed. This is in no way a reflection of the waiter, he was very kind and attentive. The appetizers were wonderful, however, then it took nearly 30 minutes for our entrees to come out. My filet mignon was ice cold and her roasted chicken and risotto had a watery consistency and absolutely no flavor. I sent mine back to be reheated and an additional 30 mins later our waiter said “I hope your steak was better when it came back out” to which I let him know, my meal never came back out. By the time my steak got to me my fiancé’s plate had already been cleared. They brought dessert that tasted less impressive than a grocery store’s and was topped with a soggy strawberry. The icing on the cake was that when the bill came, we noticed only one entree listed. We appreciated this as we truly felt the missing entree deserved to be comped. THEN, The waiter approaches and tells us he accidentally didn’t charge us for one entree and reprinted the bill to the higher price. Worst experience we’ve had out in 7 years. Totally disappointed in the quality of the food and the timing of its delivery. Will absolutely not return.
Food and service are always fabulous. The views are also spectacular.
Very attentive staff. Delicious food. Always a sure bet to walk away very satisfied.
one of the best places for our family to meet, stay and eat.
Can’t wait to go back. The seven layer chocolate cake is now my favorite cake! Great birthday dinner! Recommending the farro beet salad!
We all enjoyed our brunch, food was tasty and a nice presentation. Service was friendly & a bit slow but I think they had new staffing and need a little more experience. Requested a hot latte but it came out cold which was strange. There might be a issue with their espresso machine (my friend’s latte was luke warm)I asked for ice to make it an iced latte and that took 10 minutes for a glass with just a few cubes.. We’ll be back to give it another try
We always enjoy our meals here; the food is consistently good, service professional, and atmosphere pleasant. My only complaint is that during most of our visits the restaurant is only partially full, which in such a larger room has it pluses and minuses. Of course, this is not the kitchen's fault and it would be great if the local community would frequent this fine establishment.
We picked the Diamond Mills hotel to stay the night before a ski day at Hunter Mountain. We were pleasantly surprised how nice the hotel was. We didn’t expect the restaurant to be exceptional but it was amazingly good. We started with the barley mushroom soup which was excellent. We had a stuffed pork chop and pasta alla Norma and cherry tart for dessert. The service staff were very pleasant. The only minus we experienced was a lack of knowledge about specific ingredients listed for various dishes. Our drinks and soup came at the same time. It would have been nice to enjoy our drinks before the arrival of the first course. But it still was an excellent meal.
As usual, the foods and wines were excellent as well as services.
We arrived early for our 5:30pm reservation and were seated immediately. The room was very nice and behind the main the room with the fireplace. We were greeted by a lovely waitress who informed us it was her first day and to be patient with her - no need - she was great! We were offered menus and ordered drinks. All of us decided on the First Friday buffet. Drinks arrived (I had the best Cosmo ever!), bread arrived with different spreads and we were off to the buffet. The selections were good especially for the price. Since it was early, the buffet was orderly and well stocked. We started with hard cheese, mozzarella pearls, 2 types of mushrooms, prosciutto, salami, marinated artichokes and there were other items we did not sample. We moved on to the salads which were beautifully presented as well as tasty. There was a soup, pasta fagoli which was quite oily but flavorful. The mozzarella in-crute was delicious. There was eggplant parm, chicken scarpiello (which was not my preference since it was just legs and thighs and a little difficult to eat) trout (did not try) and huge stuffed pork which was sliced to order and a delicious risotto with or without shrimp. In all, we made 3 trips to buffet to sample the food. I did notice that it took a while for the trays to be refilled as some were empty by our second pass although we were lucky to have already tried it so we were not disappointed but not so sure how others felt about that. Everything we ate was delicious. The dessert table held a good selection BUT there was a person ahead of us who emptied the tiramisu dish completely leaving nothing for others. The ricotta cake was delicious as well as the zabaglione. Did not like the cookies and the cannoli was dry. We were not offered coffee but I'm sure we could have asked and it would have been provided. We are really looking forward to the next First Friday. We had a great time, the Tavern was beautiful and we were not rushed.
The wait staff (Mya especially), bartender and the guys at the carving station & omelette station were all fabulous! Your staff did a phenomenal job. This has become a New Year’s Day tradition for us and we look forward to it...it’s a fabulous way to end the holiday season & begin the new year.
Fabulous dinner and atmosphere! Everything was top notch. Staff were exceptional and made the evening unforgettable. Highly recommend!!!
Christmas Day, our oven broke, and we scrambled for Plan B. Thankfully, Open Table led us to The Tavern at Diamond Mills. While we expected to be getting dinner to-orders when we arrived, we found ourselves nearing the restaurant’s end of brunch buffet, which was nicely presented, tasty and offered varied choices of foods . The outdoor view of the the waterfall is spectacular, though we wished we’d been seated at a table where we could see it from inside, or even near the fireplace for a cozier Christmas feeling. Overall, the service was pleasant, cheery even, and our holiday mealtime was saved!
The brunch was very good. We have been several times and it is always very good. The only thing was the waffles tasted like St. Pierre Belgin Waffles from a package and not home made. The service was excellent and it is a pretty place.
Very friendly staff, excellent holiday buffet, especially the waffles & poached salmon. The desserts were good but not particularly inventive. Tasteful holiday decor. I love the bar area & waterfall view.
I think my answers to the previous questions said it all.
Fabulous menu and food. Staff very friendly and courteous.
Really awful ... had not been there in years because service was always bad ... nothing has changed .... service terrible and it was almost empty .... first courses were wrong for two ... main course wrong for one , had to ask for water three times and wine came almost at the end of meal ... will not return ... huge disappointment...
A vast improvement in food selection and quality as well as congenial and professional service. The price point was excellent as well
I love eating at their first fridays dinner. It is so delicious!
Our Waiter informed us that it was his first day on the job and he didn’t receive any training as way of apologizing for the poor experience he was sure we had. He was so overwhelmed and was clueless on the use of the computers that we saw him once to drop a drink to the table and close to 90 minutes later after we struggled to find him to pay our check. When the check finally came it was for another table who had already swiped their credit card for payment the waiter was unaware of this and didn’t know how to rectify it as his manager seemed unable to help so I was forced to pay with cash.
What added to overall dreadful experience I had booked a table in the tavern the website showed pictures of crisp well decorated tables, a well lit room with large windows facing the river, only on arrival to be ushered to the building next door to be sat in what was like a college cafeteria.
We drove 120 miles from New Jersey to sit and enjoy someone else cooking Thanksgiving dinner for a change sadly this was not the experience we had hoped for.
This was our 3rd Thanksgiving at Diamond Mills It appears the same problems keep reoccurring. Always an issue with the prime rib being raw. Since you already have sides on your plate they get cold while you wait 5-10 minutes for another prime rib. Platters are not replenished in a timely manner. Many platters are left empty for long periods of time. I'm not sure what the issue is with the serving spoons but for a
some reason the food is stuck to the spoon i.e. mashed potatoes, stuffing, etc and you cannot get a serving on your plate. The servers are polite and friendly. On the whole food is good but I was not pleased with my prime rib after I finally got it. It was an end piece which I usually like but this had a lot of gristle. We do like this place. It is convenient for us but wish some of these problems could be remedied.
As much as we wanted to love Thanksgiving at Diamond Mills, we couldn't. Our young waitress in the ballroom was forgetful, unhelpful, focused more on drink orders at other tables. The buffet was poorly replenished (soup/salad; warm-only vegetables; 3 trips I never saw a roasted brussel sprout). Kitchen runners refilled right in front of guests (dangerous), not behind the table, which there should have been two rectangles, not one square, which shouldn't have been in the center of the room, instead by the 2 middle exit doors for safe, efficient replenishment. Dinner rolls were dry, day old - sorry. Roast beef and turkey were, in fact, moist and flavorful, but the salmon encroute was fishy and dry. Our waitress never told our table where the desserts were. She twice forgot to serve a spoon with coffee. But she was prompt with our check. A former waiter from way back when, I always tip 20% or more; that day, on a $270 check, 10%, reflecting my frustration. We've wanted to dine at Diamond Mills for some time. Perhaps it's better in the Tavern. Oh, no valet parking; I had to walk some 400 yards up on the hill, in the cold, especially after a meal - ugh! Maybe others had a better experience. Wish I could have.
Excellent! Great experience for our first Thanksgiving dinner out. Thank you. We’ll be back!
Beautiful location - even in winter months. :) Ambiance is wonderful and relaxing. Selection of food for Thanksgiving was diverse and tasty. As this was Thanksgiving, the turkey was reheated and dry, but the other options were good. Even with a reservation and early seating, our table was set near the service station.
- Mediocre service at best
- Artichokes were overcooked and greasy
- Florentine steak advertised as being served rare came to the table medium well
- Worst of all: the bartender. Loud, obnoxious and said terrible things to the other wait staff about about customers they were servicing. He should be let go.
Dinner was fantastic! Loved the atmosphere and the food was nicely portioned and delicious! Could not be happier with the experience!
The old mill is full of character and the food and service was just wonderful!
It was our first time at Diamond Mills and we were delightfully surprised. The Tavern is beautiful, the food wonderful, and the staff couldn't have been any nicer or more attentive. We will definitely be back.
It was a very lovely spot! Rather hidden down the hill in Saugerties and located in the hotel it is def a “hidden gem”. My boyfriend and I went for Hudson. Valley Restaurant week to check it out. The service was great! Everyone was very attentive. It was all delicious! Each course was presented with flair - it was very impressive. I especially loved the sour cherry and Italian pastry dessert it was scrumptious and presented upon the slate it was beautiful! My boyfriend had the veal Milanese who’s was so Amazing and large it barely fit on the plate with a gorgeous plating job with arugula for a pop of color. The frisée and arugska salad was tasty as it was striking and the artichokes crunchy, creamy and tart! I had the filet mignon Pizzaiola with mashed potatoes and superb spinach and roasted garlic bits.
