The Three Oaks
The staff were very welcoming and the service was great. The food was delicious. Would definitely recommend it.
Excellent service and food as ever. Highly recommend as always a high standard and very well priced. The staff are extremely polite and professional.
When we arrived and set in the restaurant the air conditioner was to cold for us.
We moved outside , without any problems by the staff to complacence us and had a very nice time.
We go there all the time for a good meal and always enjoy it.
Great lunch as always !
Steak night is good - reduced rates and a 'bring your own' policy is great.
No compulsory service charge is added to the bill (unlike the Jolly Farmer at 12.5%) - I'm happy to leave a tip but at my discretion as it should be.
We ate at the Three Oaks with friends yesterday whom we hadn’t seen for some time so it was intended to be special. We chose the lunch time specials and quite enjoyed our starters but personally I found our main courses to be poorly presented and unexciting. Having just returned from Ireland where eating black pudding was delicious this didn’t really resemble the product at all.
In summing up, neither the food nor venue matched the internet description.
Had a very enjoyable Saturday lunch for my Mom's Birthday. Would Definitely go back again
This is the one restaurant where we are happy to choose fish when not on the coast. The meal was excellent: they use ingredients from their garden and have a personal supplier of fish. The style is haute cuisine so not huge portions but intricate flavours.
Friendly and efficient staff
Prices are reasonable, with the set menu being good value for money.
What’s there not to like ?
Simply put, a superb place to eat, and it's mainly down to the excellence that comes out of the kitchen on the plates of food . The Monday night offer of BYOB plus discounted steak prices makes the place unbeatable. But it's good on any night. I highly recommend it.
Great food , sat outside on a beautiful day in very pleasant surroundings . The set menu had a good range of options which we had and were not disappointed. The staff were attentive but not obtrusive... can’t wait to go back
Was a really nice family lunch
Superb service and food
Very disappointed in the long wait considering it wasn’t that full. Over an hour wait before we had our meal but when it did arrive it was ok. Was always looking forward to coming to your restaurant but what a shame it’s not up to parr.
Excellent food, friendly service but problem with the communication to the bar so drinks took awhile. Found the room too be too warm.
Been here many times over the last few years.
Always great food,service & atmosphere!
The welcome and service when you arrive was excellent. Friendly and accommodating. Will definitely go again.
Great service. Sunday roast amazing and dessert very yummy, all tasted so fresh! Definitely be back!
Lost its wow factor , the starter and the dessert was average although the main course was very good
Outstanding original food and service. A great pub
Great venue and excellent food. I had the hake which was superb - really tasty and my wife had a very generous portion of a chicken dish. We had bread to start - 3 different types and 2 types of hummus- which was really tasty. I had the set menu so 2 courses for £19 which was a bargain. Great waitress and good ambience in the main restaurant. We’ll be coming back soon.
lovely staff and food made are night. thank you lovely restrurant
Consistently great food and service, the staff couldn't be more helpful. BYO Monday's are a great deal!
We had an outstanding lunch here - excellent food, really interesting flavours, good service. Can't ask for more than that, can you?
I find the menu varied and interesting along with the choice of wines. We had a very enjoyable lunch. I'm Coleiac and dairy intolerant so l can only eat in restaurants that cook from scratch without pre-added ingrediants. They always adapt something off the menu for me.
Another wonderful celebration lunch. The lunch menu was exquisite - chicken rillettes and crusted hake. Great service. Delicious wine and a birthday surprise for our guest. Thank you
I usually come with 6-8 friends once s month and we enjoy the 3 course set menu for lunch. Although the food is very good the menu has been the same for the last 3 months. We would like a change.
Great evening- the service was very good & the food was excellent as always, very well presented.
Birthday dinner with my wife. Fabulous food, great service and sooo polite too. A great experience
Always love going to the three oaks, the food is always amazing and so is the service! Will be back soon
Excellent service and delicious food
Yes would definitely recommend service was excellent and the food very good. The lamb was very good. The only downside was the amount of fish on the menu, slightly awkward when dining with a Hindu partner who does not eat beef or fish. The wine was also very good.
Have been a few times with friends I had roasted cod, it was delicious, also staff very attentive will go back again soo
Place empty & took us to table next to kitchen door which can be annoying if your are prone to
be irritated by swooshing doors-why do they take you to the worst table in the restaurant? Not just here -must be a policy. Changed seats no quibble. Hair or what looked like a hair in my starter- quickly changed for fresh starter and not charged for it. Wrong accompaniment with one of main courses. Not that busy so service a bit lazy....but well meaning, quick to put things right and food is very nice especially the steaks and puddings. Oh and a very nice champagne available by the glass. Will be going back & would recommend.
Had a lovely meal, all diners thoroughly enjoyed their choices. Only negative was the bill was quite pricey.
This was the first time we’d been to the Three Oaks in 18 months, when we had a similar experience to the one last night ....The food was good, but the service was slow, it was 20 minutes before our order was taken and the wine we’d ordered, to go with the food, was served at the same time as our aperitifs, there were long gaps between courses where we sat in front of dirty plates and although the waiting staff were pleasant, there was no finesse, as there used to be and when we were being served, it was all rather rushed ... essentially, it would seem, that there are now too many covers, for the size of the kitchen and it shows ... going to the Three Oaks used to be a real treat and there was a special quality about it, which is now sadly missing and it’s just a pub that serves nice food ... no doubt we will return at some point, but not in a hurry.
Bit disappointed this time. Food took an age to come And mixed thoughts on food. Celeriac main was enjoyed very much but pasta was Luke warm and hake very bland. Not up to the usual high standards of this great restaurant
Took my father for his 87 birthday food was amazing with great choices of wine and a very pleasant waitress good night
Great place to meet up for lunch . Set lunch menu is great value , using all local ingredients. Lovely setting , good tables .
Staff are knowledgeable about the menu which is a real bonus. Great food, slightly smaller portions than we would like as the food is SO good, we want more of it (fish in particular).
Great tasty desserts too, will be back
Service was good and professional and with the right amount of attention but the main event, the food, left a lot to be desired. The portions were tiny and yet super expensive. We had the main course of Charred BBQ celeriac - it was about the size of a starter. One slice of celeriac, about the thickness of a pineapple ring, with a teaspoon of chopped hazelnuts, an insignificant amount of the hummus that looked like a jus, two tiny pieces of kale, no pickled celeriac...for £15! A whole celeriac in Waitrose is 98p.
The vegetarian pasta was equally small. I didn't count but I'd be surprised if there were more than 10 pieces of pasta. I can't find the menu item to check what the other ingredients were, but there wasn't enough of anything. The pasta itself was hard and I would guess not freshly made. This dish was also around £15.
We chose the cheeseboard for a dessert, a dish that cost £9 but contained 3 cubes of cheese that hardly amounted to a mouthful of each, no onions, no fruit/nuts and the two other items were merely small blobs that looked more for decoration than eating.
We're not the kind of people to moan, nor to complete online reviews, but after hearing so many good things about the restaurant, left feeling very disappointed.
