Very quiet - we were the only diners so it lacked atmosphere. Very attentive service but the food (burger) was mediocre - rather dry. Unusually, I wasn't asked how I would like it cooked
Always lovely to come here. Wonderful local pub and perfect for lunch.
Canlara!!! Thank you so much. It wouldnt be a wonderful local pub without you guys!! Spread the word and see you soon.
Food was bland and was cooked hours in advanced, no flavour meat very poor quality wine was tasteless
Overall very poor Sunday lunch
Waiting staff re very good pity the kitchen let them down badly
My first visit! Very good food, service and atmosphere. I’ll be back!
Waiting staff were great, food not so much on this occasion.
Main course food only just reached warm, roast potatoes were so hard (Not crispy) and tasted like they had been kept warm for a long time. Quite disappointed as my last visit was great and prompted me to take my daughter there for her 40th birthday lunch 🙁
We enjoyed a good lunch with friendly and helpful staff. The smoked salmon starter was disappointing but the roast beef and roast lamb main courses were delicious - the meat was very tender.
Really gone down hill the food was bland and the place was near empty for a Friday night. It needs to rethink its menu & pricing £35 for a bottle of Prosecco is a total rip off.
I was staying at the Victoria so decided to eat there - Tuesday is steak night but I went for fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce. Service was excellent - friendly and efficient without being overwhelming and the food was really good.
Great venue for a family Sunday Roast
Very Nice Valentine's meal. The food was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Dessert was yummy. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and overall we enjoyed our evening.
Great location, very cosy environment, wonderful service, reasonably priced and very good variety. My guest was a vegan and enjoyed the curry & desert. I had the fish-n-chips for the second time in a week and its amazing!
This latest visit was on a Vegetarian Monday night, and it sadly almost empty. I really cannot understand why - the food as always was perfect, the service courteous and helpful, and the price extremely reasonable. It can only be the out of the way location is letting it down. My advice, find this place, you'll love it!
Nice location and friendly staff. Starters were good, the mains (two roasts) were very average and overpriced but would come here again and perhaps try something different.
Really lovely pub. Warm, cosy, dog friendly and great food. Would definitely go again.
Disappointing meal at The Victoria on New Year’s Day. Portions were extremely small and my husband’s steak, which was a very over priced £25, was barely edible. Tough and flavourless. Our dog liked it though. I had the vegan curry and it was tasty but the centres of the cauliflower florets were cold, so it had clearly been reheated, and not enough. The size of the portion of rice was laughable. We both got home and had to eat again, we were both so hungry. Service was friendly and our dog was made welcome. We would have complained about the food but were with friends and didn’t want to make a fuss. Our friends both had fish and chips, which they said was nice, although again portion size very small - the mushy peas were about a tablespoons-worth?! We’ve eaten here twice before but not sure we would again now. Pity!
As usual the food is superb but the manager is really not fitted for the job.
Never smile... Not sure this is the right job for her.
Excellent roast beef! Good attentive service. Nice cozy buzzy atmosphere. Family style clientele on New Years Day.
Lovely food and atmosphere as well as Child friendly.
Wonderful neighbourhood pub serving excellent Sunday lunch in warm, comfy surroundings. Highly recommended - one of the best in the area.
We had a very good Sunday lunch. The roast beef and lamb were cooked to perfection. Mashed root vegetables were delicious and the ultimate test was the spring cabbage - still green and just the right amount of crunch. Staff were friendly and attentive.
Lovely staff and great food. Not the best choice for a vegetarian on the day we visited as it wasn't their usual expansive menu but great food nonetheless.
The visit to The Victoria was very good with excellent service and a wide range of food to choose from.
Very tasty 2 course meal, good service.I missed the more open feel which the ‘ glasshouse extension provides, perhaps because it was in the day. Of course I can see why it was closed off in midwinter.
Lovely as always but particularly at Christmas. Food was delicious and service was great
Thanks so much Demalad!! We glad you came and enjoyed the Christmas festivities with us. Merry Christmas and Happy new year to you.
It was our first time at the Victoria and we will most certainly be returning. It was welcoming without being too noisy and the service was good without being pushy. Food was good quality and good portion sizes.
We had a small Christmas gathering here ! It was lovely not hugely busy but welcoming and good attentive service . I ordered Partridge which as a cook I know is a dangerous choice , yes it was a tad dry but still pretty good . Cocktails excellent and some lovely choices in wine
Excellent food, good service, kids happy/safe and welcomed. Well done Victoria!
Very nice first visit, staff was amazingly accommodating. Really enjoyed it
Very good food. A lovely surprise. Great waiter and staff
excellent food, great service, wonderful location - will be back
Helpful, welcoming staff with a charming interior and ambiance. Food was delicious as well!
Hi James, Thank you so much for your review! We really appreciate the positive feedback. Hopefully see you here again soon. The Victoria
We regularly have lunch at the Victoria with friends and the food and service is always good. As the food and service is consistently good we will return on a regular basis. Thank you to you all.
The food was nice, but u fortunately can out on the cooler side. A warm plate is a must, especially given the cost.
Disappointed at 1pm on a Saturday to be given a BRUNCH MENU with limited choices.
Amazing food and service
Great place to chat as it is quiet ie no music. Food is good and homey and the service is excellent, really friendly staff.
The starter was good main course was bad potatoes overcooked lamb tough as boot leather wine tasted bitter
Great Sunday roast in the conservatory. Appreciated the team’s efforts to indulge my last minute request to change the table I booked.
I would and have recommended The Victoria. The food is always very good. My only problem with this visit was that it was rather forlorn in that we were the only people dining so there was little atmosphere. And it's much nicer in the conservatory which was not opened because of the lack of customers. But the meal was very good.
Yes enjoyed the evening but the pork chop tough so had to be returned
Replaced with Hake which was excellent
