The Victoria and Albert Restaurant
Was a christmas present, great experience would definately go again.
I would like to mention two members of Staff which made our Evening Meal extra special, one was called Barbara and the other was called Matteo. Please ensure they get the bonus they deserve made our meal very special and made us feel welcome. Great team in the Restaurant and excellent value for money. Heads up to the Chef too as my Vegan dish was delicious! Will definetley be back
Excellent vegan afternoon tea. Staff were amazing!
Lovely food and service . Very polite waiter. Wowcher deal was really good value.
Excellent value . Two meals had to be returned they were cold. This was rectified immediately.
Food was lovely as was the atmosphere. Had to wait for a while for the table that had been booked in advance but the Manager was excellent and would highly recommend
Fantastic place, food and value, we love it so much we intend to go every 8 weeks for our girlie catch up
Good afternoon Ronnie, Thank you for visiting the hotel, I am glad you all had a great time! Please do let me know if you have any special occasions upcoming and I will be delighted to assist, please feel free to contact me via email - firstname.lastname@example.org. Kind Regards Melissa Hallatt Food & Beverage Management team
Went via a Living Social stay and dine deal.
Honestly probably the worst service and food I have experienced. The waiter didn't even ask if we would like a drink, surely that's how ever order should begin, so for the entire 2 hour service we didn't have a drink.
The waiter was totally uninterested and clearly unhappy in his role. I had steak meaning I had to pay an additional £4, so he took our room number. So after the meal we got up to leave, we went to buy a bottle of water from the bar and he chased us out with a receipt for £4. We left as we assumed he was adding the cost to our room, not that we was trying to run away with out paying all of £4.
The dinner service lasted around 2 hours as everything was extremely slow. The food wasn't great but honestly the service was appalling. I would never attend here again.

Lovely vegetarian afternoon tea, fantastic scones.Great scenic view of the canal.Superb building .
This is not a restaurant, it is more like a dining pub, they have no proper a la carte menu, just a bar menu but you can eat in the so called restaurant. The service was non existent, the management was the worst I have ever experienced. The food was of poor quality, the cheese for dessert had mold on. There was no atmosphere at all. Avoid this place at all costs, we would never go back even if it was free.
Lovely afternoon tea, served overlooking the water.
Staff were very nice and attentive
Went for Festive afternoon tea. It wasn’t festive in the slightest. We had almost finished and had to ask for our tea/coffee. But on the positive note I took my 2 grandsons (2 & 10 months) who did make a bit of a mess with the chocolate mousse. We used a Wowcher coupon so was value for money
Nothing special. They are up against some really nice deals. They must know this, however it wasn't special , not bad, just ordinary.
The lady who served us was great, freindly and professional service. Food was lovely, cooked perfectly could not fault it. Rather hidden location but worth finding.
The service was quick but not skilful
The seating isn’t comfortable table not adjustable you feel far away
The river isn’t attractive and seems unused .
The food was good but choice on menu limited with some odd mixtures .
No real atmosphere and a good deep clean needs to happen and in bedrooms .
Ours was dark .
I thought this was the Victoria and Albert at the Grand Floridian at Disney. One of my favorite restaurants in the world. Got there with no reservation and did not get seated on my Birthday. Don't make the same mistake I did!!
Very poor menu choice, absolutely no atmosphere, almost dark inside. There are much better places, don't waste your money on here.
We dined with a living social voucher. But the experience was much less good than 15 months ago when we also had a voucher. The menu was a special one and wasn't as good as on our previous visit. My starter was hot smoked salmon which was well presented and good quality food but was barely warm. My husband's ham and leek pie was very tasty but the portion size was very small. Two of the four desserts on the menu - the ones we would have chosen - were no longer available and we feel that the main menu should have been offered to us for this course in these circumstances. But the problem which really spoiled the meal was that we were in the conservatory and it was just so cold. I quickly put my coat back on and kept it on! And my husband rued the fact he hadn't put a jumper underneath his jacket. So it was a disappointing evening especially when we went with high expectations from our previous visit. With the half price voucher the meal was reasonable value. It most certainly wouldn't have been without the voucher! It's a shame we now don't feel we can recommend the V&A. It's in a lovely location, the quality of food is good and the staff are very good. But sadly overall it was a poor dining experience.
On arriving we was given a menu with plenty of choices, when I let them no I had purchased a living social voucher our menu was promptly changed to a menu with four choices, soup of the day was tomato which arrived green in colour the waitress wasn't sure what it was but it was ok, I then had ham and leek pie which was a tiny sliver with 2pieces of ham in it and the sweet that was ordered berry pavlova was terrible no meringue a couple of strawberrys and a mass of cream, they had put in a few marshmallows instead of the meringue had we hadn't have had a living social voucher maybe our experience would have been different.
We went there on a Wowcher deal which we usually find very good on this occasion we were not very pleased. When we arrived we had a drink in the bar which was very nice,we then gave the waitress our Wowcher voucher and were taken to our table and given a menu which we thought was very good, the waitress came and took our order for the three courses and brought us another drink. Ten minutes later she came back and said it was the wrong menu and gave us another menu which as I said to another girl who asked about our meal I have seen better in our local chippy, I am not surprised we were the only people in the restaurant. I am afraid I won't be recommending this deal or restaurant to anyone else.
We booked to have an early dinner in the conservatory. Staff had to be prompted to set the table, provide drinks and bring consecutive courses. Most disappointing.
The food was very disappointing. Every course was bland with no taste. The menu did not reflect the sample menu displayed with the offer
My wife and i dined here on sunday evening 7.30 to celabrate our anniversary , very nice experience , the waitress was very friendly and attentative , the food was delicious and the service excellent could not fault , the waitress ordered us a taxi after meal came no problem .
Booked a pre birthday meal with a friend using a living social voucher. The staff were friendly and helped us choose .Fabulous view of the river and the food was just amazing. Will definitley visit again.
hotel of a very high standard but food very poor standard
We arrived at the Hotel staff very nice was shown to the restuarant, waitress very nice, brought the crockery one cup was very badly stained, which we pointed out to the waitress she swopped it we were very disappointed with the crockery, thick white cups and saucers, we were expecting china crockery which is usual for afternoon tea that is part of the ambiance, sandwiches came on a flat plate not even a even number for 3 people two people had 3 sandwiches 1 person had 2 they were only bite size after all, then we were served with cakes again not the right number for 3 people again, then more sandwiches came surely that is not right, savoury first then sweets isnt it? Overall a very disappointing afternoon tea, we got it at a special price after doing the Midnight Walk I am glad we didnt have to pay full price
Staff very helpful and obliging. Food lovely and service was prompt however very relaxed.
In this restaurant, food is not cooked. It is abused, harassed, desecrated, corrupted, vilified and insulted until it looses all traces of dignity. It was disheartening to see the produce treated like this.
We were about to book the hotel to hold our wedding next year and thought lets go and taste the food in the restaurant first. We were the only ones in there so was expecting excellent food, seen as the kitchen wouldn't be busy.
What a shame, starter was luke warm at best, would of been nicer if hot. Then we had a Chicken dish as our main, this was as dry as any chicken we have ever had. We both couldn't finish it. We didn't complain at the time, we just waited for dessert. They redeemed themselves here with 2 rather nice desserts that to be honest could of been bought in. So overall not impressed at all.
I'm afraid the V&A has just lost our business to hold our wedding which would of netted them many thousands. Looking for alternative venues now. What a shame !!!!
Great service from a lovely young lady waitress....very polite and attentative service.
Great food fantastically presented without enduring long wait.
I must admit, having eaten here before, Saturday was not up to par.
Unusual to have pate without bread/toast/crackers as the starter. The fries were underdone with the main and my pudding (sticky toffee) had the hardest base any 'sponge' could have.
Sorry, but it has been better.
Good food and lovely restaurant, only problem was serving chocolate sauce with starter instead of brown sauce, but complimentary drinks as an apology. Gave us a good laugh though and no harm done.
Pre theatre meal.....great food set menu choices, ambiance and service excellently received.
Gorgeous lamb and sticky toffee pudding just a shame it was early on and there was no atmosphere in there
Really enjoyed our meal here we went to celebrate ours friends 70 th birthday the staff were really good and made the occasion very special we went to the opera house in the evening so we had the pre theatre menu we were allowed to keep our car on their car park which saved us a fortune in car park fees I would have no hesitation in highly recommending this dining experience
The restaurant was great. Nice food, served reasonably quickly and without fuss. I was in fact staying in the hotel anyway and could just as easily have phoned room service to book a table but had been thinking of eating elsewhere and had left it too late on a Friday night. Since I was already on your website I somewhat lazily used your app to book a table in my own hotel instead.
The bad news for you guys is your app didn't do its job. The table was never booked and the staff knew nothing about it. So 5 stars for them because they found me a table irrespective and 0 stars for Open Table who sent back a confirmation but forgot to tell the restaurant. I'd have hated to have booked a well known city centre restaurant instead and found out too late they weren't expecting me.
Tut tut Open Table. Must do better. V &A nice one and thanks for a great stay.
Unfortunately the hotel/restaurant looks very tired and dated.
We had the evening set menu. This was very good value at £20 for 3 courses. As a non meat eater I was happy with the choice I had. Service was good and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Will go again and happy to take friends there. I believe the restaurant are considering introducing an equivalent set lunch menu and I would encourage this.
We had a wowcher voucher which cost £35. It wasn't worth half of that.
We both had mushroom soup to start which was the nicest part of the meal.
Mains, I had the steak. I ask for it medium rare and it was served well done. I sent it back and the next steak was served medium, which just tasted burnt. It was clearly cooked on a dirty griddle. I couldn't even eat it.
My partner had chicken which was completely over cooked. It was hard and chewy.
We then ordered the desserts. After 30 minutes of waiting we had to leave as our taxi arrived.
When I asked for the bill they removed 2 drinks which actually was an insult. The 3 drinks we paid for cost £20. Therefore the whole experience cost £55 which was extremely poor.
The manager didn't even apologise. The waiter was more attentive but the whole experience was very bad.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
When booking the restaraunt we were informed that the time we would have liked was fully booked.
we had to accept an earlier time which was inconvenient due to work commitments.
We were in the restaurant for nearly three hours and noticed it didn't get busy at all.
We had to ask for the glass of projector each and he gave us the wrong menu
We asked what catch of the day was.
The waiter wasnt sure -cod or haddock or something lke that he replied.
which turned out to be fish pie.
The fishufish underneath was hot but the potatoe on top was like warm and lumpy.
The greens on the side were very salty.
On a positive note the manager gave us a complimentary bottle of wine which would have been satisfactory if we weren't driving (because we had to due to the inconvenient time of the booking)
The venue itself was lovely but the staff need some guidance
In all it was a disappointing experience and the savings weren't particularly good after comparing the menu prices.
For these reasons I would not recommend this venue
