Everything was fab food drinks music and the just beatles 😀
We came here for our 10th Wedding Anniversary having been here on our last visit. The staff where very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. We both thoroughly enjoy our meals.
This was our second visit to the voodoo rooms to celebrate our anniversary which we were really looking forward to. Unfortunately this time the service was absolutely appalling, the waiter took ages to ask if we wanted drinks, then just pretty much dumped a bottle of wine and glasses on the table and walked off, I've not been out for a meal where they dont even open the bottle for you, let alone pour it. The food came after a long wait and again was pretty much dumped on the table, the attitude of the waiter was so bad but then he was more interested in joining his loud obnoxious friends sat in the centre table where he joined them for tequila slammers shouting and swearing at the top of his voice and rallying around them getting their cocktails. They were so loud lots of other tables were turning round looking at them. The waiter took no notice of our table to ask if everything was alright, or if we wanted more drinks. We sat waiting so long to ask for the bill that in the end I just got up and walked round the corner to ask. When he finally came back to take our payment I asked for the service charge to be removed as I said the service was appalling. Instead of apologising or asking what the problem was he just turned even more rude and aggressive and said well it's only £6.50. My point was it wasnt how much it was but I'm not paying a service charge for pretty much being treat like we were getting in the way of him and his mates all night. The food was lovely and the other waiter who came to our table twice was great but unfortunately the guy who was our main waiter was up there with being one of the most rude arrogant people I've ever met. We went on to another two bars after, I'm pleased to say the service was fantastic.
An atmospheric and laidback restaurant . Food was lovely but could have been a lot better .
Perhaps it was just too busy or short staffed
Gorgeous decor. Incredibly slow unfortunately. We’d been in the restaurant for 1 hour 20 mins before food arrived. Portions a bit on the mean side.
The setting and atmosphere was fine, albeit the decoration was a little confusing. The service was also a little inconsistent and rushed... we asked for some vinegar and was served vinegar in a Saracens old plastic bottle, with broken lid... the service did not match the customer which The Voodoo Room was hoping to attract...
Cara and the female manager were fantastic
The ambience, food, service and value were excellent
Excellent food, creative appetizers. I loved it, will make a point of returning here on our next trip to Edinburgh.
I thoroughly enjoyed eating at this restaurant & the drinking the cocktails. It was all delicious and well worth trying out. The staff were friendly & professional. The vibe in the place was good, we even chatted to another couple on the next table, it was so nice & relaxed.
Service was extremely slow and restaurant wasn't too busy. Bar service was even slower and it was quiet. Food was good when it arrived, but tables were very close together and made it difficult to serve and move around.
Food was absolutely amazing! The restaurant was decorated beautifully!
Poor service poor food. Didn’t eat 80% of my food. I would have paid in full but the restaurant gave me £4 off...,big deal. I gave it to the waitress and will never go back.
Visited the Voodoo Rooms before going to McMagic Moments . First visit and was amazed at what an amazing place it is. This place has such a great atmosphere the food is amazing and cocktails are out of this world. Will definitely be back. It is very old Edinburgh and so old world . Couldn't fault it at all. So glad I've found that little bit of Edinburgh.
I love The Voodoo Rooms! There is always a great atmosphere and the staff are friendly, professional and attentive. The decor is elegant and comfortable. Varied delicious menu and great selection of drinks to choose from. I would highly recommend a visit. I also love the music events organised there by The Edinburgh Blues Club.
We had the pre-theatre menu; the food was very nice, well presented and good flavours. The portion sizes were good, not too large but not small either. The service we enjoyed was prompt and very courteous and attentive. The decor is good and the ambient music was also very good without being too loud. I would very strongly recommend the restaurant for good food, good value and good ambience.
I had an excelent dinner with my family at Voodoo Rooms and the food was so good! My option was the cod with special vegetables... delicious! We reccomend this Restaurant in Edimburgh👍🏻
v.good food and service, will be back when i can. found the lighting a bit low, but overall a great place and staff warming and helpful
The drinks were incredible and the place itself is beautiful however after waiting so long to visit edinburgh, book this reservation and looking forward to this special meal the 'hot platter' 50% off it was cold. They'd managed to forget to put our check on, instead of just telling us they'd made a mistake which we would have understood they came back and said 'what did you order again the check was cut in half' to which all was missed off was the wedges after this conversation it was a further 15 minutes if waiting while other tables who arrived after us all got served. This put quite a bit of a downer on the evening which was picked up by visiting Panda and Sons & 52 Canoes cocktails bats everyone should try! as well as Bryant and Mack!
The food here was tasty and not too complicated. The cocktaiks were superb. Surroundings were so very cool!
Food and service superb. Good value for money too.
Food and drink were excellent - exactly what we wanted for a Sunday lunch. The only hiccup was the staff had no knowledge of the booking I'd placed (and received confirmation of) on OpenTable.
I choose this place for a date and this wasn't good idea. First thing bar and tables where people eating their dinners are too close each other so there is really loud all the time. No chance to talk. This is the biggest problem. Service was fantastic food not so bad.
The venue consits of a bar, a restaurant area and another room which had live music. I had dinner with my family to celebrate my birthday and booked a table for five.
Food and service were very good, the menu had something to offer for every taste - more vegetarian or vegan options would be great, but I had no trouble choosing something. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great, I loved the decor and how relaxed everything was despite looking quite fancy. The only downside was the music: the restaurant had background music playing, which would have been nice on its own, but mixed with the live music it was quite confusing and difficult to have a conversation. As the live music was played next doors it wasn't possible to block it from the restaurant. But maybe it would be a good idea to turn down the volume of the background music a bit, so that you can listen to the live music when it's playing and have the background music in the breaks only instead of a constant mix of both.
Nevertheless, I will visit Voodoo Rooms again for another dinner and/or bar visit.
The Voodoo rooms manages to combine good food, great service and a manic atmosphere (especially at festival time) resulting in a fantastic experience!
A pleasant enough dining room with attentive waiting staff albeit with some inappropriate language on occasion. The food was perfectly acceptable but nothing show stopping. The music being played over the speakers was far too loud to affect a pleasurable dining experience.
Gorgeous looking venue full of character. Very busy on Friday night not suitable for a quiet romantic meal or drink but atmosphere friendly and upbeat. Very mixed clientele which was nice. Server friendly and efficient, nice to get water brought to table right at the start. Meal was very nice, generous portions and nicely presented. Will definately be back.
The cocktails were really bad value, out of 4 we ordered, only 1 tasted like it was worth the £8 price tag, just strange flavours, not good balance. Food menu was very limited for vegetarians, pretty basic options.
Not a huge menu but what they did, they did well. I had the Aranchini balls as a starter and they were outstanding. My partner had the squid and chorizo which was good but a little salty. We both had the fillet steak and it was cooked to perfection. The bar after was buzzing and the cocktails good. It was so good, we went back two nights later with friends for drinks and ended up eating again. Just be careful of the Absenthe......
We make a reservation for a party of 4 about 6 hours bevor arriving, but they didn't update the reservation list in this time and there was no table for us available. The manger didn't care about that situation but the Maître dhotel was very dedicated and found us a table within 20 minutes.
Restaurant and Bar are looking amazing, but if there is a concert in one of the other rooms you hear a mix among the live and the bar music!
But the Ambience is outstanding and worth to stop by!
A lot to like about the Voodoo Rooms, and not much to dislike. Food was very good rather than great, extensive drinks menu was well utilised, relaxed atmosphere with varied music selection on in the background the night we were there, service was spot on.
Nice place for a drink, building interesting, very hot with no air con or open windows, had to ask to be seated for dinner, menu limited, food cheap but pub food at best, nothing outstanding, staff friendly, would go again but only for drinks.
We ate here on Saturday evening. It was busy and it took a while to order our food but once ordered, the starters came fairly quickly. One of our main courses arrived cold but we were so impressed with the way in which the waitressing staff dealt with it and a new main course was provided without charge. Definitely will come back.
Great styling and decor. Cocktails are a must here, we didn't realise they were specialists in rum and tequila. Good little find off the main tourist track
Voodoo rooms is always worth a visit and great value for money. Even with current refurbishments moving the bar, it didn't feel over crowded and the services was good
We shared the hot & cold platter washed down with some beautiful selection of wine. The music & lighting was perfect. The staff were warm & friendly.
The only negative was the despite checking the evening before the meal conditions of the deal (amazon local).. We got billed full price.. It required some negotiation before the bill was resolved...
We will definitely be returning & recommend Vodoo rooms for various meetings & functions.
A great atmosphere, food was amazing. Enjoyed cocktails in the bar afterwards. Would definitely recommend.
Good for drinks if you don't mind rude staff serving them. Don't bother eating there though
Great place for a romantic meal, food and service excellent. Great decor and good low level lighting.
Meal was lovely, as was the wine. It was a shame that we almost joined the table next to us, well you would have thought so with closeness. Felt a bit rushed out the door.
The Voodoo Rooms is rated 4 stars by 103 OpenTable diners.
